Zero used to be such a badass. I still remember how it blew our fucking minds when we suddenly got to ccontrol him in X3. That was awesome.

@@UnCreativeDeconstructionism Yeah the Zero series was the legacy he deserved. From the beginning of X when Zero had to protect him, to Zero having to carry on the fight alone to let X finally rest in peace.

That Flame Hyenard boss fight blows my mind to this day. It's one of the biggest dumpster fires in gaming history.
Wholeheartedly recommend Megaman X8. It's a masterpiece compared to this game, and stands on its own merits really well, allowing the player to make use of all three protagonists from the start. Capcom definitely learned from its mistakes with this trash.
I actually beaten this game...don't ask how as it was a rough experience, lol.

So this was my first introduction to the Megaman X series since I didn't own a SNES or a PS1. I had played Megaman Legends and loved it and I wanted to get my hands on anything Megaman related that I could. When I saw this was being released, I got it for Christmas and was really excited to try it. I was very lukewarm towards he game, but I didn't know anything about Megaman or Megaman X at the time for comparison. I wondered if there was something I was missing as to why people love Megaman games? It wasn't until I got Megaman X on the WiiU virtual console that I understood what makes a good Megaman X game and what was wrong with Megaman X7.

This lock-on + toggle mechanic is pretty common.
The controls in this game suck.

Once you get used to this game it is not that bad. It is actually really easy especially with X. He is so OP in this game.

I remember buying and trying this one. I just couldn't get into a 3d Mega Man. -Or Castlevania, or Metroid, or Zelda. Guess I'm hooked on platform and overhead games.
Bad 3D games aren't a personal problem, but it is if you're throwing Metroid Prime and the Zeldas under the bus.
@@ActionGamerAaron Metroid Prime is awesome, but I gotta admit Metroid works best in 2D. Really hope Prime 4 takes some pointers from BotW.
The Japanese version of Flame Hyenard is a wee bit better, they did a bit more laughing and their audio isn't as comedically compressed. It actually shows some signs of some direction to the voicing rather than weirdly alternating between a whimsical "Whoop!" when they jump and constantly yelling "Burn to the ground!" in anger with every attack.

Wow, these invasive tutorials that drag on were already considered a bad idea by the time this game came out. I'm really confused how Capcom could screw this one up so bad. I noticed that they did not list a director in the credits. Whoever it was knew they screwed this one up and asked for their name to be discluded. A most shameful product by Capcom.
The one thing I can say I liked about this game was Axl's design. I'm a sucker for Wing/Tail Binders. Or things that look and function like them, anyway.
I always heard it was terrible and avoided even playing it even though I'm a huge fan of the series. Glad I didn't ever bother trying it.
There should be an option to turn the voices off, or have them speak Japanese (the latter of which makes the game a bit more tolerable). The game also wants you to utilize Axl’s duplicate ability. And you can play as X after beating two bosses.
@D Trust me, it's worth it to turn the voices to Japanese. Unless you enjoy the bad English voice acting lol

Kinda reminds me of Silver Surfer when James wasn't able to beat any of the stages, but was also able to cycle thru all of them at his own convenience. So, before I even finish the vid, I'm gonna assume all the levels are either impossible or just way too difficult to complete. Either way, love the vid, Mike!
AS a megaman classic and X fan i give this game a 6/10... It's still much better than many other bad games out there ! ;)

I am an X-X3 kind of guy. After that, it became so different to me. Love the original style of X-X3, just has a nice feel to it.
Ive been thinking about X3 lately, and realized that its a really weird game compared to everything else in the series. Getting all those different robot armors, having to choose between one pink capsule except if you pick none of them you can get them all, having to deal with Bit, Byte and Vile in a weirdly specific manner or the entire last part of the game is differnet.. And of couse, the *one time* you can use Zero in a boss fight in that game. Which no one could've ever hoped to figure out.,, X3 is a weird game. A really fun game, but also a weird one.
@@etherraichu Yeah, X3 was definitely different. It's where I drew the line. Music is great in it though. I love how its the most expensive of the lot too. I never owned it as a kid, so buying the cartridge hurt a little, considering it wasn't my favorite. The upgraded X-Buster sucks in X3 too. The pattern it shoots in fully charged, seems to miss so much. I still prefer just the regular full charge up, no upgrades.
It's not Megaman. It's an abomination.

Mega Man X8 is a lot better for sure as it goes back to a more traditional 2D sidescrolling format and ditches the hybrid 2D/3D mess that was X7, but it's still no match for the SNES/PS1 era MMX games

The japanese version is less overtuned with the lines and how loud they are, its the english localization in here that is messy xD

This game is really bad, but X6, in my honest opinion, is worse.
I completed this game 100% by rescuing the reploids. Same thing with Mega Man X6. If anybody wants to lose their sanity when it comes to 100% completion, then both MMX6 & MMX7 will do that for you... Mega Man X8 is a MUCH better game than X7, as it's now a 2.5D game without the bullshit 3D sections that utterly destroyed the 7th X entry...

Also saving some of the replies is impossible if you dont know where they are. Radio Tower and Lava Stage are insanely hard to save all reploids.
I did this on X Legacy Collection just for the achievement alone. My God was it awful.
The game is bad, is somewhat tolerable (in terms of loading times) in the X Legacy Collection 2, glad you managed to survive this mess even if you didn't beat it (at least on this video).

In fact, for Keiji Inafune, Mega Man X5 was intended to be the last chapter in the Mega Man X series and he planned to bring Zero back to life in Mega Man Zero, but CAPCOM had other plans, and without consulting anything to him, they decided to go on with the X series and rivive Zero without further explanation

Megaman just doesn't work 3D. That 2D.5 one looked interesting though ...
Doing a terrible job doesn't mean it wouldn't work ever, consider the fact that this was poorly developed.

It could have. Devil May Cry was out by then - the template for how 3D combat should work was there (yes I know Capcom has different development teams, I'm saying the model was there). Hell, even the elements of Dante's weapons were there, with Zero being the swordplay and Axl being the gunplay. Can you imagine Zero doing some of the shit Devil May Cry had? I really think X7 had the potential to be one of the best, if they just did it differently.
