"yeah" - James Rolf
"Exactly, yep!"
James told his Legend of Zelda sword story again. XD
Who is he exactly ?
Maxime Profundis - He's the angriest gamer you've ever heard. 😏
never heard of him. I know mike who's been making videos on this channel for years now. But that guy whith glasses (not nostalgia critic, just the one they call James), never seen or heard of him ever before. And i can swear I'm not in a thirld-world country. Not yet.
I love how natural their conversations are. It's like they completely forget there's a camera in front of them and they're just shooting the shit, having fun with a video game, like best friends should.

It is indeed one of the greatest games of all time...endless hours of my childhood spent in a link to the past... Enchanting memories, indeed.
This is one of the best games of all time.
Well said!

the soundtrack of this game was one of the best ever in my humble opinion. the village and the flute songs are still some of my favorite pieces of music from video games.
What I liked most about a link to the past is the atmosphere. The music and art style really did something for me. Thinking of those midi trumpets takes me back to my childhood :)
Sukuraidogai I really liked Link's Awakening as well. Gameboy was not known for having good sound though xD
Richard Smith Heck yeah, nothing beats the magic of games like this one!
Did you mean to say that those trumpets take you back to the past?
You played in 90s but I started Nintendo gaming in 2015 & after trying many Zelda this is best
I'm playing Link's Awakening on my 3DS now. Zelda is one of my favorite series of all time. Thanks James and Mike!
One of those games that never gets old.
A life without Zelda or Mario?! That's a life I don't want to live.
Similar to rachet and clank. Jak & daxter. Kratos. Lara craft. Rayman. Prince. ( from prince of persia ) pac-man. Master Chief. ( HALO )
Resident evil characters. And even ape escape characters.
@@mariehassett247 Id gladly sacrifice ALL to ensure the continuance of Zelda & Mario. Not a one you mentioned can hold a candle to Zelda & Mario
Listening to these two talk about their childhood memories is so oddly heartwarming and entertaining.
I think the fact that the graphics and colours are so perfect make it one of the best. As James says it is extremely enjoyable to look at.
Yep. my favorite game as well. never gets old.
I have it on my Switch, 3DS, Wii U, laptop and phone.
Mine is either Postal 2 or Final Fantasy 6.
This game has aged incredibly well in every aspect. Even the graphics are still 100% beautiful. It even looks great on big screen emulation. 10/10 game, I'll play it until the stars burn out.
My all time favourite game, recently purchased the snes classic and my son is taking the time to enjoy the adventure and from time to time I watch and remember all the great times I had playing it my way. I enjoy taking time out of my day to assist him when his gets discouraged about certain puzzles or can’t find a key or chest and I get a chance to bond with my boy playing something that was a key building block in my gaming history. 🤘🤩

We need a SNES mini, and this game needs to be on it.
For sure. They could also do an NES Classic II and model it after a top loader -Mike
Would be nice if these "mini" retro console trends would also make new exclusive games for those system.
There's no way that would happen because Nintendo would get more money, and for some reason, they don't want that
user10476 - I already own the game for myself. I just think it'd be even better on a SNES mini - higher resolution, more fluid animation, etc.
Tell me what would happen if your angry video game nerd and vegeta merge with the armoires pothara that would form xd greetings from Argentina
But if you lived in the Zelda 'universe' you'd always run the risk of Link rampaging round your home smashing everything at any moment.

If i would be in zelda universe i would fuck a zelda. I meant who would not
I've played Link to the Past so much, I'm literally a walking encyclopedia of that game. It's definitely one of my favorites to play and to go back to. Over 30 years old, and this game has not aged at all. It still looks amazing.
It's my favourite as well. I remember getting a snes and this game for Christmas and I played it all day

Not my favorite, but in this gen, it was "Play aLttP completely for months, play 3/4th a month of the entire shitty library I owned, play aLttP for months again".
James and Mike should play Super Metroid on the show.
TheFantasticJoe ^ This.
I think they will, eventually. They did the NES one.
always wanted them to play that one, or castlevania 3
Cool Avatar man, best part in Batman returns
They did Metroid and Metroid II on Gameboy, I think that was all last year. Games are fun but fairly long especially because they only really have time for a few hours a week at best to do the videos. I'm sure they'll do it at some point.
This was awesome
This is the greatest Zelda of all time

10:35 james, you hit the nail on the head..
Mass Effect came out right after my mom passed away, and I remember sitting on the floor in the large living room late at night that winter, just playing Mass Effect, getting lost in the story and world, forgetting everything else for but a moment's ease of mind.
Now, whenever i see scenes of that game, hear Fem-Shep's voice, or hear the galaxy map theme, it has an automatic memory association to so many things in that period of time in my life as well, so it just became an immediate classic favorite game that won't ever change.
Sure it was a great game on its own, but i didnt "choose" it as my favorite game, it chose me, at the precice right time when i needed such an experience.
I can't believe Mike went through this entire video without mentioning Zelda once. Amazing!
It's a joke because Mike brings it up almost every video. lol
Sarcasm for the win!

This is by far my favorite Cinemassacre's video of all time! I am a huge Zelda fan and A Link to the Past is my favorite game of all time. I loved James and Mike's comments on the game and their personal thoughts and experiences. I literally felt that this video was made for me! Thank you so much, this video made my day and probably the rest of the week!!!!
awesome username!
I agree Link to the Past is the greatest Zelda game ever made it's a game I can play any day and never get tired of
Lol, thanks bud!
Zelda A Link to the Past happens to be my favorite game EVER. I am literally in Love with this Absolute Masterpiece. Therefore, I utterly agree with you. 😉
James articulates a lot of how I feel concerning how I am with my favorite game; that being Link's Awakening. That game was bundled with the Game Boy shortly after it came out and I got it for Christmas. The way James described A Link to the Past is exactly how Link's Awakening sort of came to choose me to favor it the most.
This game is truly a masterpiece. I know most people's favorite LoZ title is Ocarina of Time, but this and Majora's Mask take the cake for me.
I don't think a lot of people would consider OOT their favorite anymore. At least not the original N64 version.
I'm close to agreeing there, but I tend to switch back and forth. I always think I like MM better, and then go back and play OoT and the fact that there's so many more temples and adult Link, it just seems like there's so much more to it. But then being able to play as a Zora and a Goron..... Too much good to pick between the two.
The Side Quest Gamer
Oh, you don't think so? Almost everyone I know still thinks that OoT is the greatest thing ever. I enjoy it for what it is, but I always liked this and Majora's Mask more.
Tom Wilson Haha, I see you with the jokes! ;)
*****
I hear you! OoT has a lot of wonderful things to it, but there was something about Majora's Mask that captivated me a bit more. They're both solid games that have a lot to offer, for sure!
Hell yeah guys! Been waiting for this for a long time!
thanks for watching! -Mike
I wonder why they cut the whole mountain/Tower of Hera segment and only showed the worm boss. That's a lot of footage to just roughly cut away like that.
i agree
i disagree
I am unsure if to agree or disagree.
@@supermario9520 I really didn't want to leave a comment like this but I had to say this made me laugh
The music in this game is so iconic!
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past is my favorite childhood game as well.
:)
Mike was talking about people who weren't into Zelda. I definitely was, back then, up through Ocarina of Time or so. When I got a Gamecube, I tried to play Wind Waker and it lost me, oddly because I'm the kind of gamer Mike claims to be: I like to spend a lot of time, explore thoroughly, etc. Wind Waker disillusioned me because I was constantly discovering challenges and side quests, at the end of which I would be rewarded with Rupees. This wasn't just now and then, either, I was constantly doing things hoping to find a tangible reward and I kept being handed money that I literally could not carry because the limited wallet was full. Why was my wallet constantly full? Because there's no reason to spend money in the game. There is pretty much nothing of true value that you can straight up buy that the plot hasn't already forced you to buy. I haven't played a newer Zelda game since, so I don't know how much that still holds true, but Wind Waker, critically acclaimed though it may be, broke me of the series. Link to the Past is the only one I still play now and then, actually. It's just so good. Enough story to keep you involved, real rewards for finding secrets and completing side quests, smooth control. It has it all, in much the same way Super Metroid had it all.
XH1927 You're not alone here, pal.
guys that ending was ON POINT!!! Probably one of the best edited and shot videos for the James and Mike series. Loved this quality stuff, and how much you guys obviously really enjoy this game. Can't wait for part 2. Seriously. Well done.
This is also my favorite game of all time, I play through it multiple times a year(Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Final Fantasy Tactics are also up there). My 9 year old niece just played through it recently(she also did Super Mario RPG), so I got to help her with those which was pretty cool seeing how much she actually enjoyed some older games.
To me, this game was the perfect blend of challenge and technological capacity for it's time.
Besides TMNT4: Turtles In Time, this is the number one game I've always wanted and never played.
Same now on snes

Also my favorite game. I love the beginning when it is raining 😁
That's also my favorite game of all time too. I love it.
Mike doesn't have his own Link to the Past cartridge?
Tom Wilson lol but everyone had their own legend of Zelda cart back then?
Tom Wilson lmao
I have several copies of it. What leads you to believe that I don't own the game, I'm curious. I have done a live stream of the entire game recently. I actually have a copy in the box with all manuals and inserts..
- Mike
Cinemassacre maybe he assumed that this is James cartridge and saw the save with your name, but idk
Cinemassacre Mike, my bad. I assumed this was James cartridge and I saw you had a save file on it.
"Behold, the last moment of princess Zelda!"
"Ok... I could disrupt you and try to save her or something, but I guess I'll just stand here and watch you do whatever horrific thing it is that you're doing."
It's crazy that Shigeru Miyamoto used his childhood memories playing outside as inspiration for The Legend of Zelda, because Ocarina of Time inspired me to go on adventures in my neighborhood when I was a kid. I wanted to be like Link, running through the bushes and beneath the trees with a plastic shield and a wooden sword. It's like there is an indirect thread between his experience and mine, connecting us through the years and over continents with a video game.
Just watching this again randomly in 2019 and at the beginning James is talking about playing Majora's Mask to get his opinion on it and I think we all know that now
who is getting the Nintendo Switch
im getting the switch there adding so many 3 party developers now
same
depends on what games are out for it when if I get it.
***** I'm sure they will be able to port enough third party games over for it. third partys don't hate Nintendo . look at 3ds all kinds of third party devs for it. And smaller doesn't always mean weaker. you also have to think the xbox and playstation are media centers. they need more horse power than the switch will.
For me, it will depend on how they carry over downloaded content from the Wii and Wii U. If they don't support a direct download, like they did from the Wii to the Wii U, or some sort of serious discount for such content, I may be done supporting Nintendo. They need to stop attempting to make the same money 10 times. They need more than a few franchise characters to compete in a world of better hardware and dozens of excellent software teams.
"Aha! Monday! I have been waiting for you!"
I see Agahnim is a fan of James and Mike Mondays too.
I replayed Link to the Past a couple months ago. On this run, I used Mike's glitch where you can get to the dark world early. I skipped all the bosses until I had every dungeon's item (light and dark worlds), then returned afterwards to kill the bosses. It was a fun new way to play it. You can get the 3rd sword, then replace it with the Master Sword (2), then replace it again with the 3rd sword.
I think James would really enjoy link between worlds.
he's completed it I believe
I grew up with A Link to the Past, and I honestly think once you take nostalgia out of it and look at them objectively... Link Between Worlds is the better game. That's right I said it.
Link Between Worlds is so overrated. It's so easy and simple. It has no charm of its own so it has to rely on its prequel to trick people into thinking it's good, but it's not. The dungeons and the overworld suck. It's an ok game, but certainly doesn't add anything to the franchise.
Rothur I think James would enjoy silence from Mike
Samuel Nelson ouch but you might have a point.
This kind of videos should be in 60FPS. When Link is hurt, he completely disappear.
respect my authority,
the game is, but the video itself isnt
Ah, just like watching old Sonic playthroughs pre-60 FPS where games like 1, 2 and Advance 1 would just engulf your character in the video feed when it's supposed to be transparent.
So glad you guys finally got around to this timeless masterpiece!
It is so heartworming, to tell the stories from your childhood, yet a lone to play one of the most amazing games in the world at the same time. Thanks for your company, pals!
Did you know that for the Super Famicom extension there was a Zelda 1 remake with Link to the past graphics?
st fu Yeah BS Zelda is pretty fun, there's a romhack that removes the timer too. Also you could choose a female protagonist!
If I remember correctly, there were about 4 of them. One for each "Quest". 1 Being the normal game, 2 being the one you put "ZELDA" as you name, 3 being a special new one made by St Giga, and I'm not sure if the 4th one is a fan one.
Yeah you don't play as Link you play as yourself from the satellaview lobby.
st fu you can buy them as reproduce carts now there pretty neat
Thank you for that comment!! I had no idea there was such a thing! Thanks to you I've just downloaded the rom and it's wonderful :D
Watching this randomly on November 21st 2019. 28 years to the day of it's release. Weird.
Wind Waker is finally getting some recognition for the great game it is. It's one of the best and most interesting Zeldas to me
I remember getting my dad's camera as a kid and making videos with star wars action figures. I would even get notebook paper and write a story and show it to the camera and move it like the text crawl in the movies.
10:44 I'm someone who has a recent favorite, AM2R/ Another Metroid 2 Remake. That is not only my favorite Metroid game of all time, but also my favorite game of all time.
And I grew up with Banjo-Tooie, so it had some HUGE competition.
AM2R is not a real Metroid game.
OTBWY I know it's fan-made, but I still consider it a Metroid game because it has everything an official Metroid game would have.
And I don't mean it has Samus Aran, and a bunch of other Metroid enemies, I mean it plays the way a Metroid game does; it has a minute amount of story focus like Metroid does. Over all it's everything Metroid was from the beginning and everything Nintendo has forgotten about Metroid.
Alan Malcheski I'm sorry, what? Which game do you mean, Banjo-Tooie or AM2R? And how could it be your favorite if you never heard about it?
Who cares if it's unofficial, Nintendo never felt like making a good Metroid game themselves since Zero Mission and we're overdue for a Metroid 2 remake anyway. Now with Zero Mission, AM2R then Super and Fusion as they are now, the original quadrology of the franchise is perfect.
UltimaKeyMaster Personally I wouldn't say since Zero Mission, I would say since Prime 3; but Zero Mission was definitely the last Metroid game before the subtle decline of Prime, then sheer drop of Other M.
I don't know how Nintendo is so blind and deaf to the cry's of their fans, but I hope they take off their blinders soon; because with every turd they slap the Metroid name on, the ball of white hot hatred in my stomach grows another millimeter in diameter. And eventually it's either going to kill me from the sheer stress levels, or it's going to explode all over some innocent bystanders.
Then I'll have to make some retarded case in court about how my anger over a video game made me do it, and nobody want's to see that in the news.
I implore you guys to look up the Zelda: Link to the Past Randomizer. It's made waves and it makes the experience even more interesting and fun.
Mike Strider yare yare daze
Mike Strider yes i agree. zelda randomizer is so much fun. whether its a link to past or zelda 1 on nes. both are fun!
I can vouch for this. Everyone should definitely check it out.
Didn't know this was a thing. Will try it out today.
It's only really more fun if you know where almost all of the chests are; otherwise, it is very easy to get stuck and have no idea where to go.
I recently attended the Zelda Symphony Orchestra where they play the music with someone playing the games in the background. I was sickened as to how many people didn't know what this was. My favorite of all time.
This game is still incredible today and still my favorite game of all time as well. James and Mike have a lot of similar feelings about it as I do, and in general this game just has great game feel and progression. Packed with secrets with a wonderful world to explore... It'll always be my favorite.
Greatest game of all time, glad you guys have finally got around to playing it

I've never played a Zelda game ever and I don't think I know anyone that has? (Except the Wii) Not many people in Ireland grew up with Nintendo systems from what I know mostly Sega, PlayStation and Xbox. Will definitely be getting the Switch though and NES mini to see what I missed out on.
A Link to the Past has got to be one of the greatest. I remember as a kid going to the EB Electronics store at the mall, and there was a line out the door of kids playing the Link to the Past demo the store had set up.
I love how Mike truly means it. when he says his favorite game is whatever he's playing. He made the same point during the Doom video.

There was a Zelda clone on Sega Genesis - Crusader of Centy.
Never had SNES back then, so that game gives me more feels.
Check it out, it's a pretty decent game.
I wouldn't call it a clone, while you did need to collect animals like the tools to progress in some places it didn't quite have the same feel at all. At best I would say it was in the same genre. I do wish they had played ALttP randomized because those runs are hilarious.
RetroGamerAaron That's not a problem for these guys.
***** You know they clearly took Zelda and improvised in their taste. Lots of visuals and music clearly resemble Zelda. I wouldn't call it a clone too, as it looks and sounds so much better, and as I don't care about Zelda at all, while to me Crusader of Centy is one of the best games I ever played. But facts are facts.
There have been many good Zelda-inspired games over the years. Another fantastic one was Alundra on the Playstation.
"Hey, you're a human, you little shit, you're such shit"
Also my favorite game of all time. In fact i actually called nintendo's 900 hotline because i got stuck on an early part of the game, now i have it entirely memorized. When A Link Between Worlds came out on the 3ds i purchased the console specifically for the game and i literally cried nostalgia tears when it beat it. And now that 3ds sequel is my second favorite game of all time.
Holy shit, has it already been 25 years? Crazy...Link to the Past is one of the game i play at least once a year and i've been doing so for a long time now. Yet it never lose its magic.
Nowadays, when i play the game i tend to play it through a randomizer (changes treasure chest content, you could get the flippers in the first chest for example) but i think for the 25th anniversary i'll play through the game normally again.
Thank you for playing this, James & Mike.
9:00 cutting bushes is actually not as popular in Japan...
I wish I could frame this comment.
my favourite game has never changed: Landstalker on genesis.
ryan phillips Touché
I loved Windwaker. Sailing around and fishing up treasure was dope.
James & Mike Mondays has become one of my favourite shows on Cinemassacre.
Where I'm pretty torn between A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds as my Favorite top down Zelda, Wind Waker might be my favorite 3D Zelda. I never found the Sailing in the original to be off-putting. I can see how it would be to some, but I always found it to be quite peaceful overall. Really it's hard to pick a favorite Zelda game though, because nearly all of them are pretty amazing in their own right.
Totally agree. I found the sailing fun and serene. Played it again recently on Wii U. Beautiful in HD.
Streetmagik
I would love to play the HD version as well, but I still don't own or know anyone that owns a Wii U. =P
Its better on the Wii U remake too, mostly because of the sail upgrade that lets you get around SO much quicker
Link Between Worlds was great, but a little too easy, and I actually disliked the item renting/purchasing mechanic. Part of what made the experience in Zelda games for me is finding out what new item you'd find in a dungeon.
Alan Chapman
I felt that way too, until I realized that you get all of your equipment upgrades in dungeons. Then renting/buying all the other items makes the world less restrictive. It was a little on the easy side for sure, but still very fun! The hero mode is pretty brutal though! I would rather just have one mode with difficulty somewhere in the middle personally. If I had to choose. =P
Hmmm maybe it's because I've played it so many times now but I personally think this is the easiest main entry in the series by a long shot. I can breeze through without a single death and collect everything in about the space of a single afternoon fairly effortlessly. I'm no pro or speed runner it's just once you know where to go and what to do this game's a complete breeze to beat.
devilmikey00 don't most Zelda games become that way when you beat them??
I think Minish cap is easier than this one.
I agree. The boss fight with Mothula in Skull Woods is the only real challenge in the game, and by then you have three bottles of life restoring assistance. LttP has pretty simple gameplay--once you memorize the dungeons and item locations, the game is breeze. And for those saying that's true of all Zelda games: no, it's not. The 3-D games are far too long and tedious to ever be a "breeze" (even though they aren't difficult). And no matter how many times you play through Zelda 1 and Zelda 2, those final dungeons will kick. Your. ASS. Blue Wizzerobes and Blue Fokkas can die in hell.
frozenaorta
I still find most of the bosses in any Zelda game pretty easy. Gannon at the end of LttP is one of the few I still find challenging. Sure the game is earier once you know where to go and what to do. I don't just think that's true of all Zelda games, I think that's true of all games PREIOD. I always found the NES games way too hard (how did kids ever cope with playing them, with no walkthroughs to look up?). LttP got a good balance of hard stuff and easy stuff that is still fun. Also game being far too long and tedious doesn't they can't also be easy, not that I really think that of any of the Zelda games myself.
Buc Whovian Word of mouth helped a lot with the NES games. We talked a lot on the bus and at school, so everyone knew that you needed to play the whistle at the lake to open Level 7. Nintendo Power was also HUGE back then. I don't think enough reviewers emphasize just how popular and helpful it was. We didn't have the internet, but we had that magazine and the "tip line" to call that everyone's parent's HATED. Haha. It was not cheap to call.
But more importantly, most games back then were more about skill and twitch reflex than "figuring out what to do." Maps for games like Metroid were incredibly helpful, but we usually just preferred cheat codes and stuff.
I should also humbly add that we were just better gamers back then. I know that sounds like a humblebrag, but we were weened on those games--we HAD to become good to play shit like Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Mega Man, Contra, Zelda 2, etc. And keep in mind, you didn't beat every game back then. These days, you expect to finish every game you buy--they're designed to be played "through." In the NES days, you fucking "conquered" games. It was a big deal to beat a game. Most of the games you played you never came close to finishing.
Anyway, agreed on Link to the Past. Lol. Got a little carried away there rambling. Sorry!
I think that Mike and James have slightly different requirements for their favorite. Mike's favorite game is the game he has most fun experiencing, which changes as he's in different moods and James' favorite game is the one that means the most to him, which never changes.
the part about miyamoto was really well put mike! It made me feel super nostalgic like beyond video games... the days where a stick was excalibur and the woods were open and you really didn't feel unsafe it was outstanding!... I can even remember games like link to the past and chrono trigger, playing for like 2 hours I would WANT to go outside and fuck around it was magical. thanks for that
I'd like to see a long play...
Yeah. ^^ What he said. That would be awesome, with both James and Mike.
That's what this is...just broken into parts.
"love this game so much, I've played it so much. we're going through real quickly" ::meanders aimlessly, doesn't know where to go::
this is probably the greatest single game of my childhood. thank you james and mike for sharing this video.
I love this game so much,
One of my proudest gaming achievements when I was younger was getting a perfect 000 score at the end of this game.
People that think the sailing in Wind Waker is boring will hate Breath of the Wild for the open world..
I never thought it was too bad.. Yeah it was slow, but not THAT bad...
i think of breath of the wild as a nintendo version of skyrim/witcher 3 sorry but it tends to go that way
*****
yeah sure just keep telling that yourself
***** Zelda 1 is literally just a revamped Hydlide.
With one major difference... Zelda 1 was good..
YAY!!! :)
This thing "your favorite picks you, not the opposite" is pretty damn real
Amazing game. I think a favorite game is whatever u keep coming back to play over the years, over & over.
Ocarina of Time next?
I like this angle of Zelda game, so Oracle series next?
P.S.: I'm weird, but if this were Megaman, I'd be backwards, I prefer 3d to 2d on that one, despite it being 2nd hand.
I assume by 3D, you mean the Legends games, and not X7.
I always felt the Legends games were pretty solid, but thought that Megaman never really transitioned as well as Zelda or Mario. Did a heck of a lot better than Castlevania, though, that's for sure.
James sounds like he knows very little of the game
OptimusPurp Yeah considering he says it's his favorite video game...
James is more knowledgeable of movies it seems.
Nitromian that's what made me write the comment. Him saying he'd kill every single enemy, yea ... ok
IceHighwind I can understand favorite games as in plural so it's hard to remember since having multiple things to think about but having one sole game as you're favorite I'd expect some knowledge unless youre just oblivious
well i guess its really just the experience he had as a kid
This, James & Mike, two retro dudes, playing LttP, was exactly what I´ve been craving.
I was born in 90, and was just a bit too young to catch LttP when it was fresh.
My Zelda adventure started with OoT and Link´s Awakening, though I did get glimpses of the LttP comic and LttP screenshots in random copies of Nintendo Power at the time, and always had an itch to play the game (Ended up getting it on GBA later).
He said "Imagine your life without Zelda"...I suddenly had a very violent shudder down my spine for no reason. I don't really wanna imagine my life without LoZ in it, it's one of, if not my most favorite game series of all time. I remember hearing that Nintendo was going to be working with Universal Studios to put an area for them in their theme parks and it just reminded me of how much I'd love a Disney style park where it's just ALL Nintendo so you could travel to the different lands like Mushroom Kingdom, Popstar from Kirby, one of the many worlds for Metroid or Star Fox, and most awesomely...Hyrule from LoZ..ooh two castles, Peach's and Zelda's could be centerpieces for each area so you could visit Hyrule Castle Town. I still would love something like this but chances of it are low.
So since Mike's favorite game is The Legend of Zelda on NES (or at least tends to be) and James' favorite game is A Link to the Past, then whose favorite game is Zelda II: The Adventure of Link?
Zelda II is a great game. You can see my live stream of the entire game here

The original game is still my favorite of the series. I just prefer that top down 8 bit style. But Zelda II was an awesome follow up regardless. -Mike
Interesting! Thanks for the reply. :)
Dan Avidan.
part 2 was Fred Fuchs favorite
Zachary Erickson Get gud
Tru masterpiece
YES thanks for doing this video! look forward to the next ones!
Oh my gosh, just listening to that music takes me back!
Wait... Link's hair is pink? *The fuck?* Was that always like that?? *WHY????*
Luke Lengic It was a bug with the pallete or something and they never bothered to fix it. Even the GBA version has the pink hair to my knowledge. The official artwork has his signature dirty blonde hair.
More like a hardware limitation.
Jigglysaint How is having brown hair a hardware limitation?
256 total at once, not per sprite. And just because you can have 8 colors on a sprite, doesn't mean you might not only use 4 to save storage space or reduce processing time.
Bruh i have been wondering ever since i played it, thanks for the answer
Friendly correction that Metroid was design by Gunpei Yokoi, and not Miyamoto.
Love the vid, tho.
Chrono Trigger when?
Gunpei produced the game but he did NOT design it or direct it. Hiroji Kiyotake created Samus visualy. Hiroji Kiyotake, Makoto Kano, Hiroji Kiyotake and Hirofumi Matsuoka were all the designers.
+lMrFresno559l He's listed as one of the designers. was also head of R&D 1 IIRC

That said, he didn't do it alone by any stretch. I can see why just saying he did it would be considered misleading.
haha, Mike.. "haha I will send you to the dark world link!" way to end on that little gem of a line.
I was too young when I started playing this game I think and I couldn't figure out a lot of things so I wasn't able to complete it. But I still had very fond memories of it.
I've played through this game ten times, but yet here I am, a quarter of a century later, watching someone else do it.
Awesome. Best game ever.
when i play zelda games i like to enter in my name as a swear word so then when the characters talk to you they swear at you an that always makes the text reading fun
The James and Mike combo is sooo awesome. Talking about video games and the life in the 80's and so on. I live in Sweden so knowing about how gamers life in the 80's and so on was, is so interesting.
I remember watching my friend start and finish this game in a little over 2 hours. I love this game
