Thanks again, sir.
Great content as always. Thanks!
This was and incredibly informative video. Big thumbs up. Thanks for posting.
*NOTE - since this video was recorded, CGC has given out the first ever 9.9 to a Sports Illustrated magazine. A single copy of Mbappe's first cover from 2023 recently received the 9.9 grade.
great stats to look at and ponder thank you brad
Love the video - I can’t wait to see how subs are commmmmmmmmmming in strong
How about doing subscription increases in the major covers awesome video as always Brad.
Back when I was collecting in the early 2000's, the 1st issue always sold well and I always felt that portended well for the hobby since like potato chips, you're not gonna stop at one. Gonna guess that very few people get the 1st issue and are done. They get the 1st, then they want their favorite player etc etc. So 20 years later seeing how well the 1st issue sells even though there's a ton out there tells me SI collecting is very healthy!
On the CGC SI facebook group a guy posted his latest sub return in Feb which had 18 Mbappe covers..17 were 9.8 and 1 was a 9.9
Yes, that was posted after I had recorded this video. Pretty awesome!
Hey Brad, did you notice that 9.4 Jordan commemorative issue that one of the subscription cards had fallen out of the bottom of the magazine? Lots of people ask whether they should remove the cards before sending in for grading, this is a perfect example of why you should remove them Here you have a nicely graded magazine, but a card is sticking out the bottom
Yes, 100%! I had the same thing happen with one of my slabs I had graded very early on. Nowadays, I always remove any loose subscription inserts before pressing. If they are still attached, I will typically leave them though.
i love the fact that 38 more gretzky first cover news stands have been graded but there are still only 4 9.4s and 1 9.8 pretty hard to get a good grade
Absolutely! Very tough to find many of these issues in newsstand period, let alone in high grade.
Brad, I tried finding the video where you asked the trivia question, but I can't find it. Awhile ago you asked what father and son Hall Of Famers have been on covers. Nobody had answered it as a couple days ago. Believe the answer is Archie and Peyton Manning
i am not sure but i am pretty sure bobby hull and brett hull have both been on the cover
The correct answers to that question were Bobby/Brett Hull and Dale Earnhardt Sr/Jr.
