Legacy project for sure. Even a wagon would be sweet
Legacy 3.6R with 6 speed swap and power adders!
Everyone has done a wagon legacy build! Love them but it's repetitive
I was jus thinking the sedan
ThePetDeMouche My Leg 3.0R BTZ has 6spd MT same as my STi, “stock” though it’s very rare BT, it’s a blast to drive. 🤘
Try an old-school Legacy wagon build like mine 😉 standard wiring and ECU with a piggyback. No one says you have to spend big $$ for good reliable fun
Every video containing the STI is a good one. :)
yeah I click these videos so fast
STI video make my morning that much better. Dripping with anticipation to start the day and get out there and drive my STI hatch. Feelsgoodman
The STI is sounding great! It just wants to eat! :D I got chills every time you guys did a pull. Love the direction the build went, what a beautiful machine
2:51 the moment pete realized the evo was in trouble
naaaaah. that was when he realized that someone doesn't know how to shift worth shit.
This thing rips harddd guys... Love Pete's reaction 😂😂 Hopes the Evo keeps up 🔥
I really like this type of tune/build. It has enough power low down but not so much that you struggle to drive it in traffic or gets jittery when you put your foot down to pass someone or come out of a corner at reasonable revs but when you really want to feel alive, it lets you! Good job guys. Wish my bank balance would allow me to one day do something like this before I get too old.
Damnit, I love this channel. The enthusiasm is palpable.
Thank you for all the hard work you put into this channel. All your content is amazing
Love the sti and how far it’s come, can’t wait to see the battle 😁
This was an awesome series. Actually building my 05 abandoned jdm sti which has been sitting un a tree for 4 years then garage for 1 year. Bought it engine has been fully built. Using all the same parts you guys have used on yours. Really enjoyed the series
Gotta give it the full beans, DP!!! Love the build and the in-car reactions were awesome. Thanks, guys!
I went from a DC2 Integra Type R to an '05 JDM Impreza STI and the EJ207 absolutely blew me away, as someone who loves an engine that revs it really outshines the 2.5.
The 257 has been a let down since day one. I mean i do drive a 18 Type RA and nothing bad has happened yet but the engine leaves a lot to be desired in regards to reliability and power delivery. Once the warranty is up I plan on having a 2nd engine built and prepared for a swap. Ill keep the oem engine in storage for when and if i decide to sell. No mods until the warranty is up.
Incidentally I went from a DC2 in to a version 8 sti ('03 NZ new, same as JDM) as well and I totally agree, although I revved it to 6.5-7k, with the stock VF37 it would fall down to 15psi from 22psi (car was tuned) at redline so I always felt there wasn't much need to rev it to 8k.
With the twin scroll and equal headers they have a totally different character to a Subaru with unequal headers. Smoother and more willing.
The exhaust sounds great ! Love the build
That set up is flawless. You guys are awesome.
Loved to see the results of only a hot side change of the turbo! Thanks
Because of this video and the previous one, I purchased a bigger turbo because I felt my old one choking. I cant wait till I get it all put together. I used a hks 7460 gt2 ball bearing turbo that made 365 whp at 5200 rpm and 416 tq at 3200 rpm to a tpc 6267 turbo. Its much bigger. I hope to have the same results as these guys, more power up top and a better power curve. My car use do make all the power at the bottom to midrange and it would struggle to breathe at the top end. These guys have inspired me to seek growth. Good on you guys. 😉
I had a 13' wrx with a stage 2 tune, and the torque on that was impressive to me. I cant even image what that feels like. Nice Job!!
Looks like a really good match up. Keep it up guys.
A great example of Dyno numbers not telling the whole story. Boost threshold while on the road makes more difference in how fast a car feels in daily driving than a big number on the top end. It sounds like you guys nailed it with the setup change. It would have been interesting to see how much pressure you were getting in the exhaust manifold with a pre-turbo pressure sensor before you swapped to the bigger hot side. Can’t wait to see the Evo versus Sti battle on the track! Keep up the great content guys!
Love this series, the STI rips!
Yeah guys sick work on the STI, super sik. Makes me want to get my 2004 Liberty (Legacy for you guys) out and play Speed Academy on it.
Man sooo glad to see you guys in quick cars now. Com e a long way from just the s2k and the sr20 240sx.
Sounds great guys , good job
Mexico looks beautiful this time of year!
Seems like the sti killed Evo already...
I think the Evo killed itself...
This is my favorite body style/version of the WRX/STI, it just looks awesome IMO. The newer versions not so much.
Loved this style video and yeah if you guys are feeling another subie build that would be cool!
Good Video Guys !
13:04 😭
I love watching your builds, though!
Love your content.
The STi sounds sweet! Would be nice to see some dash cam angles in these road trip reviews, would give the viewer the feeling of sitting in the car with you while you discuss it. I am glad to hear that you guys are considering a GC STi swap project! That would be even more on par with an Evo 6 heads up review as the chassis were designed closer together in terms of that 90’s JDM era of cars.
At 2:50, the look on Pete's face: he's scared for his life LOL while DP's face: Stone Cold Killer!
I'd love to see a turbo flat 6 build. Sure mighty car mods did one ages ago with Supergramps. But they never built the motor and the turbo is fairly conservative because of that. Although it makes good power, it's not really more than a well sorted 207 can make. A 2.7 with a modern Garrett turbo, would be interesting. Perhaps maybe even see if it will shoehorn into an Impreza. My past measurements say it's possible, but I have never seen someone try.
Check out Andy Forrest's GC8, it's a beast.
There's a couple of guys in our local motorsport club who have EZ30 GC8's, it's been done many times.
YES U UPLOADED AGAIN
It sounds so good
Great video guys !!! Need more like this in the mix. BTW....might I suggest a K20/24 Datsun 510 as a future project car? I'll volunteer mine 😁
STi killer? you meant Killer STi
Good stuff boys.
Going to be a good match!
Love it.
Sti videos are the best videos
Bring on the GC !
A GC would be badass, also as a Subaru guy, can't wait to see more Evo videos!
man...i have a GT3582R turbo and i want to put it on a 2.4L 4 banger engine. i hope it pulls to 7200rpms like the STI. good job bros💪
We need a PT reaction compilation video. WOWZER! Geez! GIVE’ER!
I'd seriously love to see a 3.0 Legacy (4th gen) project on your channel
That rev range, think I'm becoming a Subaru guy just watching this 👊
Wow this FLIES
Noice! Lo e the build. Cant wait to see what happened to the evo😥
Give more rpm!!! That sti is quick for sure!! Take it down the quarter mile and see what it traps at!
Wish the FA20 sounded this good!
8:35 "I'm short-shifting at 7500."
**my tach has left the chat**
Nice!!
GC chassis would be an awesome build for 2021
Would love to see an EZ30 turbo build in a GC. Only a handful of them in the world with not much coverage. There is a heap of trickery with swapping in various EJ internal components with a bit of massaging to keep it a relatively low buck monster.
I had a 04STi 2.5 in my old GC. Was an absolute ripper but it was hard not to look/be like a boy racer in that
when he says : Holy shit! you know that thing is fucking fast
4:15 I would say it is a result of a lower pressure ratio. The turbo isn’t spooling down as much as a result.
Nicest guys on CZcams.
Killer! She shifts! 😁😁😁
Tears whole car apart and installs a strokes, built engine but can’t install new head unit......
“Next on the abandoned STI, we install a new headunit.” Lol
Yeah looking foward to see them install 9" or 11" android headunit from aliexpress/ebay.. (but need quality high spec version with built in dsp and 4g simcard data connection and plenty extra function/ stuff)
with all the projects they have a headunit is probably pretty low on the list. as long as i have bluetooth i dont care about the headunit anymore, the phone is within reach and serves the same purpose.
Am assuming you like heads
I think part of the reason it stays in boost and feels more responsive is it might have better VE in transient state. Reason I say this is I have an RB25det neo in my stagea down here in Australia with tomei cams, big plazmaman plenum but only a factory OP6 highflow turbo for “response” but the reality is the back pressure of the turbine housing is causing poor VE due to back pressure resulting in less exhaust gasses exiting the cylinder per cycle. I feel this is very noticeable in those transient states when shifting or going from 0% tps to 100%. I honestly need to upgrade to a g30-660
Love the hot ones t-shirt!
Please do a gc, my absolute dream car😍
Can’t wait for the drag race, evo has its work cut out now 🤣
LOL Pete egging Dave on @ 5:03
I think I wanna see that R34 get some love
Not to split hairs or anything because it is a decent build but the exhaust gas bypass at the wastegate once it gets to it’s final position makes the engine sound like a VTEC experience 😊🙈
Team EVO is not afraid!
A turbo flat 6 wagon would be awesome
Digging these vids.. I've got a 2012 STI that looks like it's twin in my driveway. Nice to know it's got so much potential (leaving it mostly stock for now). 👍
This turbo & housing on the 2.5 should spool, at least, 500-700 rpm sooner.
Sweeet 🔥🔥
Pleaseee do an NA EG33 in GC that would be a crazy build
I would love to see a GC build!
Nice shirt! haha
This STi tested positive for jam
You guys should do a Audi b7 a4, you would have the evo, the sti and the a4. All turbo, all 4 cylinders and all awd.
When are we going to get a video of the Evo exploding? =(
Greetings from Australia
G’day
Goodmorning from Canada
Good morning from Santo Domingo!
12:41AM here in New Zealand
Arizona, USA says good morning 👍
Yes another Subaru build!
Great build but it does seem a bit laggy at lower rpm
GC coupe build next!
Good job guys. Im happy you chose the EJ20 over the EJ25. EJ20 for the track, EJ25 is for the street.
The GC8 chassis has awful rigidity and poorly suited for a EJ25, unless you cage it.
EJ engines aren't designed to handle torque, even with a closed deck they simply never last as long as EJ20 builds and don't rev as high. I rev stock EJ207s to 8500rpm and 9k with upgraded valve springs.
EJ207 for track, 205s are junk. Also the 2.5s are much better designed for low end than top end power...
But aren’t the “problems” with 2.5 linked to poor rod ratio due to longer stroke? And since they’re using longer stroke in 2.0 for 2.1 didn’t they inherit the issues? Or are the 2.5 blocks just crap? Or do people think 2.0 is better because JDM therefore must be better. Even though Japan taxes cars based on engine displacement, moving to 2.5 would cost the owner about $10k more over the life of vehicle in taxes and insurance. Deep thoughts.
Tom Jones yeah the bore sizing with the rod ratio is not ideal. But the bigger displacement helps them out. The head port design of the 2.5 combined with the 25% increase in displacement makes it better for torque. The 2.5 blocks are fairly crap in the sense that if you want to make more than 500-600whp, you gotta really put some money into the bottom end. The bigger bores (compared to a 2.0) mean the cylinder liners are thinner and have a harder time holding together with high pressures. The best way to build one is to sleeve it and close the deck surface, but closing the deck is usually enough for most people. Then, make sure you have some beefy head studs, get a reasonably sized turbo and throw some boost at it. Big turbo high revving 2.5 is not the greatest idea, imo. The 207s are solid bc they are more designed to rev higher. They don’t have the issues of the 2.5 cylinder liners, while they still have a breaking point they’re thicker than the 2.5 liners. 207s also have factory forged pistons, and the heads flow much more air. By stroking the 2.0 to a 2.1 they shouldn’t have run into any issues, because the bore didn’t change, just changing displacement by altering the rod length
Where are the rest of the videos for this series. Need some track day videos!
Thanks for the vid. I have a brand new g25-660 waiting to go on but am considering swapping to a g30. Why not the 770?
5:12 Made me lol
EZ30 or 36 would be great too
The fact that DP says "hooly shit" confirms that this car absolutely rips
I’ve got a Legacy GT Wagon 5speed for sale...
BBS RGR 18x8
Basic bolt on’s
Suspension
Clean!
Gc8? Subscribed❤️
Gc8 type r hybrid motor ej207 heads on a built 2.5 with mdx321t response monster
Do a h-6 in a gc that would be insane
Please do a superwagon project.
I really want a turbo car, but with so many platforms to chose from its a hard choice
If you're a semi capable mechanic - the BMW N54 (I6 Twin Turbo) motor is amazing (2007 - 2009 335i, 135i, Z4... you can make 400-450HP with VERY simple bolt ons. The motor is rock solid at that power level. The main issue is the maintenance work that needs to be done. Pretty much every large gasket tends to leak oil at 70k miles so you'll likely need to do all of those at some point.
Next mod is hood and fender vents to let out all the hot air out the top and sides instead of under the floor.
Please do an H6 build! The 4 cylinders are done to death.
What would happen if i install a turbo from a Scania v8 engine on one of this?
If love you guys to do a build on my is350
