About Master Sushi Chef Hiroyuki Terada:
Master Sushi Chef Hiroyuki Terada is one of the top Japanese Chefs in the entire world and the most popular Japanese chef on CZcams.
At age 10, Terada learned the basics of sushi from his father and then went on to attend RKC Chef's School in Kochi, Japan from 1987-1989. ok, I'm studying herpetology so I'm a huge lizard lover. I dont have anything against catching and eating wild iguanas especially in Florida buuuut like most animals they do experience pain and stress so imo you should kill the iguana right away rather than tying them up and throw em in a basket... I'd guess that preforming Ikejime/Shinkeijime would give similar results to an iguana as to a fish, it ensures that the fish feels as little pain and stress as possible and the meat tastes better bcs of it.. but yeah its just a lizard right..

I live in Miami and never knew people ate iguana. They’re everywhere though, especially in the western part of the county near the Everglades and I see them near bay front park as well.

thought the exact same. just because it is an invasive species and will get eaten afterwards, doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to be treated with respect in the last hours of its life. why couldn't they just keep it in a large container and kill it quickly afterwards? it had to sit in the box with its legs taped together, stressed and unable to move until it waited for what was about to come next, not to mention that they just squeezed the hell out of its neck right before.
I know that when it comes to invasive species, there are laws that forbid killing these animals on the spot but they could have come up with something instead of just throwing the poor thing in the box like this. it felt so bad watching it.
I think part of the reason they tie them up and not kill them is because they aren't allowed to sell them unless they are still alive. When they get the permit I imagine they would likely kill them on the boat quickly.
I have no problem with people eating what they want unless they're illegal for environment and conservation reasons.
But when you unnecessarily put animals through brutal torture like this, I can never be onboard with that. And then at the end you have the nerve to say it was killed humanely!

Yeah thought it was a bit strange they kept them alive. I would have killed it asap. Instead they probably made it live for hours after being kidnapped, trussed up with it's hands tied behind it's back. That's fucked up man. They have this tool for killing rabbits and other live stock, it spring powered. You cock it, and with you pull the trigger a 1/4 inch thick rod shoots out about 1.5 inches. Kills instantly by destroying the brain. Very humane, very quick.

I didn't really agree to the slow death of the Iguana, but aside that, I did experience eating Iguana in Roatan a few years ago and loved it! They served it as sort of a stew and they charged me $25 USD for it. They didn't take the time to debone any of it and so I spent most of my time picking the tiny tail bones out of my mouth while eating. Our taxi driver even told the restaurant owner that they were overcharging for it. I didn't really mind spending the money for the experience though. I like the way the chef in the video carefully trimmed the meaty portion away from the bones. I'll have him prepare my next Iguana.
Where does it say that it was a slow death? In the video it says they were dispatched humanely. I assume the neck was broken or brain stabbed.
