I’ve always appreciated Dell for not trying to ripoff Apple design.
Yes Dell would love to rip off a no-usb-port Apple product.
Already looks similar to MBA.
All brands are copying macbook slim bezels ,.thin ..no ports ..only usb c ...trying to match macbook but apple is no 1
@@ibrahimgadgetsvlog6414 not really, surface line create own product and apple ended up copying surface pro line by creating ipad pro with keyboard and pen. Aldo all surface devices have touchscreen, something no macbook offers.
Hahaha
Every laptop out there does that
It looks pretty great, but such a shame a 4GB RAM model even exists... Dell, it's not 2008 and putting 4GB of RAM on a flagship 13" makes it look totally rubbish.
Well said! 👊
💯 agree!
It's only so they could advertise it as "starting from $999"
@@TAPORZZ1 that model should have 8GB though. There is still a place for 128GB storage though. Not everyone uses a lot.
@@bradavon while I agree 1000 dollars is a lot to ask for a machine with 4 gb ram, I still think it should be offered at a lower price point since there could be some people whose workflow does not require more than that.
Advantage of this model over the 2 in 1 released several months ago?
Been using my Gold Dell XPS 9350 Iris edition from 2016 and still runs smooth!
Might be looking at thier newer model just due to these quad and hecta cpu cores which would immensely help with Gradle compiling for Android development (:
How do you improve such a perfect laptop ? « repairability «
Also a non glossy display
Good quality control
True. I had to buy the ventilator and the bottom case in China on Ebay.
@@CripplingDuality I love glossy displays. I think im the only one.
actual ports.
Question - does the larger trackpad get in the way whilst typing ? It seems as though it may (compared to the previous version). Thankyou :)
So, is there room for improvement for next year?
Does anyone know when other retailers will start selling the new XPS other than the Dell?
It’s my favourite laptop till now
Amazing laptop! Great for students!
I still use the xps13 2019 and it works flawlessly ♥️♥️
Can u run adobe collection on it ? like Ae ?
@@hichemhelala5397 Of course. Just don't expect skip free playback of 4K media.
Subhadip Paul I’ve bought that one too! I really like and enjoy the laptop. But the lack of usb ports makes me sad.. like there is no usb a.. how do u solve this problem?
@@highinanothertime7154 I mean they ship a usb C to A dongle with the laptop.
I was thinking about buying a new 13 " laptop so which of these are better Dell xps 13 7390 the 4k touchscreen display or the Microsoft surface laptop 3. Both are 16GB of Ram and i7 10th gen.
In terms of processing (using softwares like matlab and solid works) and not overheating which is better
Does the number of ports really Matter? And the thunderbolt?
Also is it true that the screen is reflective in surface? Is it annoying or can be neglected
How does the XPS stack up with the Latitude when it comes to durability and reliability? Which one is more likely to perform at a high level for 7 years? Would it be the Latitude since it's a business laptop?
why u need a laptop for 7 years???
Can't wait to receive mine!!!
Watched this on my new xps 13, love the upgrades ...
Hello. Excellent review in india it's available as 1 tb ...can one change it to 2 tb ssd
“You could say it’s more perfect than perfect”
This or the new 2020 MacBook Air. Taking the OS off the table as I like both and I'm on Android. I need a new laptop and what to make the right choice as I keep them for many years.
Agreed 100%, I had 4GB RAM on the very first 2015 XPS infinity display and it was pushing it back then, now it's a joke to include so little on the base model.
What about the lenovo yoga s740? Do you think it can beat the dell?
wish they did something to improve the 15 inch xps
How many GHz is the speed processor? Dell deliberately hides the processor speed and only mentions the "up tp" 3.6 GHz. I bought a Dell pc that mentioned that it's "up to" 3.4 GHz, but it's speed was 1.4 and terribly slow and freezing on the simplest task like opening system in settings app.
The texture design and color of the keyboard area is of a 10yr old Sony vaio laptop
I love love love this laptop!
Play a video with black bars for most of the B-roll and tell us how slim the bezels are!
Is SD Card Reader really necessary ? Why not give an extra USB C port instead ?
Hello,
What screen did you have in your review model? Was it the 4k screen or just the Full HD+?
Also what one would you recommend out of the two?
Thanks
I have the 2018 XPS 13 and suggest to go with the FHD display since you got more battery runtime out of it. A 13" screen and 4k resolution means that you have to scale windows anyway. And the FHD display looks stunning too. 👍
@@xxxxxXXXQwertyXxxxxx I'm sure that's the sensible option, my only concern is I'm currently using a 4k XPS 15 machine, so I've grown used to it... I'm worried if I opt for the fhd option I'll notice the difference and regret not going for the 4k option.
I think I've spoilt myself lol
Does the microSD card sit flush?
Bought an XPS13 in 2016 (top of the line with touchscreen and backlit keyboard). After one month, the SSD failed. Fortunately I bought it through Costco, so they just gave me an new one to replace it. Then, after 3 years, I got a white border on the bottom of the 1/2 inch of the screen. Searching online, I could not find anyone that had replacement screens in stock, so I lived with it. This month, I started getting many more screen issues: dark around the edges, top 1/2 faded, screen periodically flashing. Again looked to buy a replacement screen, no luck! I decided to restore to factory defaults before the screen died entirely. It took 3 days of trial-error and online research to get this to work. My wife’s Surface Pro, about the same age, has worked flawlessly, so I am on my way to buy a Surface Pro 7.
Probably your gpu dying
This is a phenomenal laptop
How do you think this laptop will work with running adobe premiere, photoshop, divinci resolve?
Like every other 1065G7 with 16GB RAM, except with a little more screeen real-estate. Just google reviews of laptops with similar specs.
When will the 15 inch get a proper refresh? 😮
I like the XPS 13, but something about the texture on the keyboard is what holds me back from making the purchase. I just can't stand the appearance and feel of it.
Compared to my 2013 MacBook Pro, my 15 in dell XPS crashes way more often and I’m spending way too much time on the phone with customer service. How do you improve on a perfect laptop? Better customer service
Hey DELL, what about shipping this to Europe?
$1750 is midrange??
Its more expensive in some countries idk why either it also costs 1650 euros here
Is 8GB of data good enough or is it better to go with the 16GB one overall? (planning to get one of these soon 🙌)
I have 8gb surface book 2 and find it limiting, will replace it for new one with 16gb soon.
Dell had a 14% flashsale yesterday, so i bought the XPS 13 (2020) with the i7 processor, 16gb RAM and 512gb SSD with the 4K Ultra HD-display. Really excited! The only downside is the long delivery time...
It's on sale because the new Ryzens are 30% faster, so Dell knows what's about to happen, lol
@@H1TMANactual Wouldn't that only lower the price of the laptops with a AMD Ryzen CPU? Because i bought the XPS with a Intel Core processor.
@@TheNakkie123
No for all laptops. It's like you got a sale on Samsung phones right after Apple released a much faster phone, because Samsung knows that's the only way for them to compete. Intel is beat this year.
I'm not getting near that battery life, anyone have any idea why?
would've been perfect if it has 2560x1600 display since WUXGA resolution doesn't look as sharp for an ultrabook while WQUXGA is too taxing on battery life and gpu
Will there be an AMD 4000 series option?
Currently I only know of Asus and Lenovo who are releasing AMD R4000 , I believe dell and the others (may) release AMD 2nd half of the year.
No because that would mean that there won't be any thunderbolt3 support on those usb c ports. TB3 is an intel port. Dell makes a big deal out of those tb3 ports mostly because of their docks which connect through tb3, obviously.
@@lumdermaku X570 Phantom Gaming ITX/TB3 support Thunderbolt 3.........................
I think the 4000 series will be present in mainstream not premium laptops. It takes time to develop a laptop around a cpu. Maybe next year?
@@lumdermaku huh? amd CPUs support tb3
Is it mandatory that touch screens have glossy displays?
Nope, Some desktops ive used have a matte touch display
What is the actual model number on this device? Dell has many variation, 9380, 7380, 7390. Is it just 7300? Or is it 7300 series? I've searched and am more confused then ever.
9300
I keep seeing so many versions of the xps. Like xps 13 9380 or 9370 and i really cant figure out the difference
9380 is the 2018 model
9370 is the 2017 model
@@h.e6604 thanks!
The 2020 edition is 9300
One important you have missed mentioning that you do not get the high-resolution screen on Dell unless you spend $1800, but all Microsoft Surface laptop 3 comes with 2496 x 1664 resolution.
But it has "Tiles" and a crappy keyboard.
I was debating on either the 2020 Macbook air or the 2020 Dell XPS 13. I ordered the dell xps 13 (9300) with Intel core i5 processor, 8GM and 256 SSD. For college and work, hope i made the right choice. 🤞
How's the fan noise?

@@drfate9110 How do you know? :)
I'm really torn between buying the Dell XPS 13 i7 with 16 GB RAM and the FHD Display without touchscreen and the HP Spectre x360 13 with similar specs. I'm going to use it for university and I switch between a lot of open tabs like excel and word sheets and watching netflix on it. Has anyone a recommendation?
I've used the 2018 xps13 for uni for two years now and its been really good. The build quality feels very premium and idk HP has aways felt a little cheaper for me.
If u use the laptop outdoors or in an very bright indoor environment then nontouch is better. No glare. No mirror image of urself. And less cleaning of the screen (via virus on screen surface)
Playing overwatch with a trackpad

a big brain move?
Bruh moment
he's just showing the performance, he probably doesn't even play overwatch
It's a monstrosity.
I’ve read in other reviews that there were significant heating issues with this laptop. Can anyone else confirm if this is true?
Not for the new 11th gen
Is there a 360 Version?
Next year we’re a getting a secondary graphic card... I called it bro
Didnt mention the camera
Shout out to anyone who tried to wipe the hair off the screen at 2:18 :)
Is the UHD worth the extra money for such a small screen? Or would you save the money and go with the FHD?
Definitely go for the FHD, your battery life will thank you
@@pucciox40 Thanks. And the visual experience isn't worth it? I will use it for photo editing.
@@bh9262 I mean, it's all about pixel density
Take a 27" for instance, UHD, perfect for Photoshop.
I used a website to calculate the pixels per inch, turns out you get 142 PPI
On a 13.3 FHD instead, you get 163 PPI
Imo it's not really worth the extra price and extra battery consumption.
Also, the XPS 13 lineup should have very good colour accurate both on FHD and UHD panels
@@bh9262 also, if you really want to achieve that sharpness and extra details, you can buy and external 4k monitor later and plug it in via Thunderbolt
I wonder when those 2020 versions will be available in Europe.
How do you improve on a near perfect laptop? Simple: Give it FULL SIZED up/down arrow keys.
I dont like that the screen is so close to the keyboard.. i liked the bottom bezel as it lifted up the screen preventing neck bend.
What I would do for this laptop. A boy can dream 😪
I think my friend has this
Give me a 15 inch version of this exact same laptop
And also make it all black
How about a 17 inch? Apparently a leak says that an XPS 17 is on the way so expect the 15 to be announced alongside the XPS 17
Does it have a Linux edition?
Yes you will be able to get it with Ubuntu out the box.
60% of the review is just about the design. I noticed that I got bored during the video. When checking the timestamp, it was clear to me, why. I would appreciate some more diversity.
Why don't companies make an ultra light laptop with ultra slim body(not the screen bezel, the thickness), get-go specs like Ryzen 3, 1080p, 4GB ram,256/512 NVMe ssd, only 2 usb-c ports, etc, and price it cheaper?
I think the above specs is the best cheap ultrathin laptop.
How much is this laptop? 😊
Oops, after watching the video's title I thought I was gonna buy this laptop as I have been looking for an ultra book lately. My 1st choice is MacBook but was open to offerings from Windows side. Considering the specs and sizes, it is just another laptop trying to beat MacBook by being like MacBook. Specs are exactly the same with the same price tag. Now, advantage of MacBook would be using 'Bootcamp' so that I can use both operating systems.
Good for you
To infinity and beyond
What's the model number for this laptop
Jared Dixon 9300
Hello, would you recommend this one over the XPS 2in1??
Nope the 2 in 1 is nicer in many ways
@@WojciechKalka The 9300's keyboard is way better than the 2-in1 (I sent the 2-in-1 back because of the keyboard). My 9300 also doesn't have coil whine. Otherwise, if you don't mind the maglev keyboard or coil whine, the 2-in-1 is pretty slick.
@@Stan_sprinkle
Is coil whine still an issue on the 2in1?
@@ppr4004 yeah, mine had coil whine, which honestly didn't bother me that much, but it's there. I returned it because of the keyboard - mostly because I bought the HP Spectre and the XPS 2-in-1 at the same time and was comparing them side by side. The HP won, initially... eventually, though, my Spectre ended up having an issue with the hinge, which kinda turned me off from the HP. The XPS build quality definitely feels more solid.
By the time I had to return my HP, the 9300 was announced, and I'd concluded I didn't care about having a 2-in-1. I had a previous model Spectre, and used the flip around 2-in-1 features maybe once per month, so it wasn't a big deal for me to switch back to clamshell mode.
@@Stan_sprinkle
You are not the first one referring issues with the hinge in spectre.
I own an xps of a former generation and i'm looking for a replacement. I use the tent mode very often, that way i can put a full keyboard in Front of the laptop and use more a senond monitor with a docking station. Coil whine would disturb me a lot on an over 2k dollars/ Euros unit. (And sorry for my broker english, italy here)
Too bad it doesn't have Ryzen 4000. This with a Ryzen 4800U would have been amazing. Now just looks 2 years old. Hopefully Dell will rill out updated models with Ryzen inside. Especially the long rumored XPS17. If that has a Ryzen 4900HS or H, Color Accurate 4k screen, 99whr battery, 2x NVME, 2x Ram, 2x Thunderbolt, enough IO, decent webcam, speakers and mics to match MacBook Pro 16. Discreet GPU should offer at least RTX 2070 max Q. A all AMD option with Radeon 5700m might be interesting but who knows how that will perform.
I just got one of these from work. The fan literally sounds like a lawnmower.
i keep hearing these problems how do these reviewers not have these problems?
Right, I don’t understand. To expand on that, the fan starts going crazy for the smallest thing like launching chrome. Another thing is when it’s on your lap the body bends a little and the trackpad stops working. Honestly, I was so excited to get this laptop and now super disappointed.
@@svvari7219 almost half of the dell reviews are talking about heat an fan noise. I love the thin bezel and the rest. But I'd wait for 6 more months to get its refined version.
@@svvari7219 where do you work at man? My company doesn't let me use office computers too
I have the i7 model and the fan is barely noticeable on both windows and linux. You can try totweak some stuff in the bios if you can? Or download notebook fan control to force the fans to spin whenever you want them. Also the trackpad stops working cause the body bends? Man it sounds like you need a replacement. Mine is nothing like that

I want this laptop but it starts at 1600$ in Canada.
I got my dell xps13 9343 in 2015 during the win 10 promo for $800 CAD. If Microsoft store in canada have same promo in the future then 20% off on $1600 CAD will be groovy. Lets hope Microsoft does the same deal again in 2020.
The problem with the Dell XPS lineup is that they are overpriced. I recently got a Lenovo Ideapad C340-14API worth 53000 INR (around 750 USD when I got it) and raw specs and computing performance wise, it beats the 999 USD XPS 13 black and blue. Equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with 8 GB of RAM and 1 TB NVMe SSD, it performs like a beast. The display is 1080p IPS with touch and Lenovo Smart pen which is excellent. The Dolby speakers and the backlit keyboard are icing on the cake. And it all weighs 1.65 Kg. Compare it to the Dell weighing 1.33 Kg and having a better display but a lot of sacrifice on the raw hardware itself, the Lenovo is a clear better value for money option.
It's called an Ultrabook for a reason
@@leesf481 The Ultrabook nomenclature is no longer in use. Even if you consider that, the Ideapad C340 is also an Ultrabook. The CPU has a TDP of 15W, the disk read speed is upto 3400 MBPS and battery life is 9.5 hrs. For 320 gram more weight and a slightly toned down display but for a lot better performance, anyone would pick the Ideapad C340 over the Dell XPS anyday.
Nutting Much To Comment : The Playback Food Videos Sound Appetizing
Why no 3:2 display ratio? Why dell?
Bad experience so far. Bought XPS13 on 28 June 2020. Motherboard failed on 3 August. Dell refused to send me a new replacement computer. Dell ordered a replacement mother board so their on-site technician can change. Technician arrived 24 August with replacement "refurbished" mother board and it too failed. It's a brand new computer. Next estimated parts date is 7 September. The computer is now broken longer than it functioned. Unhappy user.
👏👏👏👏👏
Dell is very consistent giving great laptop specifically xps 13. Thank you for the review sir.
I hope I can land my hands on that laptop 🤗.
Really, did this 10th gen i7 with 16GB of Ram survived your ''daily workflow" ? I'm pretty sure a RaspberryPi would be able to handle your demanding workflow. It's like saying that a fully loaded BMW would totally handle your daily grocery trip.
He did say he did editing.
Somerandom Person saying editing is so broad he could literally be talking about opening up CZcams studio
@@somerandomperson8282 You can do editing on RaspberryPi.
I don't understand why all manufacturers don't get rid of the bottom bezel like Dell did. If you need the real estate for cooling, keyboard, trackpad etc. just go with a 16:10 aspect ratio instead of a horrendous bezel.
Providing only 4 gb of RAM for a $1000 laptop is incredibly stupid in 2020. Even Apple doesn’t do that with the base MacBook Air.
It's a shame DELL will never sell this in Portugal with the portuguese keyboard layout.
I'm brazilian and I use a XPS from 2016 (with the american layout) and must say I dont have any issues migrating from my common portuguese layout to the american one.
Usa version keyboard is much better then Canadian bilingual keyboard. As the left shift key is smaller and the Enter key is different.
Be careful to buy the Dell XPS has three serious problems:
1- screen flickering
2- thermal throttling
3- Bad technical support, they told me from months they are working to solve these factory issues, while my friend has a Lenovo laptop when he called the technical support they came fast and replaced the motherboard on warranty, while dell they will not offer any support after they take you money.
Be careful brothers and sisters.
