@@12345aliveokay makes sense that u went to the store to check it out for yourself, i did the same before buying my laptop & ended up buying from the store cos the cost difference in the online & offline price wasnt big. Its a must to go to the store & see the product for yourself & then later on if satisfied u can buy it from online

Typing on my macbook 12 inch is a nightmare compared to the surface laptops. I swear the surface laptops keyboard made me wanna actually complete my assignments.

Absolutely agree with the veredict! I have the Surface 3 because of that aspect ratio for Office World! Regarding these two it's all about on what will each one of us need to do with a PC.
Bro, been thinking about to buy a SL3 13 inch since I use a surface go for college. Surface go is cool for portability in college but for the office world assignments bla bla I would like a Real typing experience. How do u like ur sl3 and does it run all your apps smoothly ? I found this because these are the two I’m considering right now. I bought the Inspiron but have to return it, it’s really sluggish. The surface has instant on which is really great and I’m wondering how long the dell takes to turn on, I think that’s an important feature that you didn’t cover.
I have the Surface Laptop 3 i7 Colbalt Blue (Alcantara) and my Girlfriend has the XPS. They are both pretty dope and at first I was kinda jealous, but I am happy with my purchase as I primarily use it for School and Work. The XPS is just a tad to small for me so when I type on it I sometimes hit two keys at once lol.

I just returned my surface 3 laptop. Unfortunately, it started to get hot at the bottom and the fan noise was was very noticeable... I wanted to like it but for the price. I’ll look somewhere else.

The only thing you get out of thunderbolt 3 is external GPU support and with the poor performance and super high costs of a case with a gpu. It's almost cheaper to buy a second gaming computer. Thunderbolt 3 (just like 2) is completely overrated and underused

Nice review! I just picked up the XPS 13" i7-1185G7 and it's an absolute beast. It can play games decently well, especially for the size. Main reason I like it is the screen and the keyboard. I haven't found a keyboard I like this much on any laptop. Even the MacBook's don't beat the XPS IMO.
Edit: Actually I forgot all about the Surface Book 2 I used to have. That had the best keyboard I've every typed on period.

Dell has introduced FHD Touch version this year (Not only UHD touch). FHD has two versions now: touch and non-touch, plus UHD touch.

My have owned Dell xps 13 for the last three months. I’m about to return it. The laptop is great, however the functionality is poor. Within two months, the touchpad is sticking, head phone jack removals fails the speakers, the screen has become very sensitive to the point it intermittently pauses at the slightest touch. There is also an resolution issue, where only sometime the picture becomes blurred. I’m considering a Surface 3 as a replacement in the hope less maybe better in functionality.
The xps is just hands down better in every way. The customization, it’s cheaper, it’s smaller and lighter, the key board and touch pad seem to be better. I’ll be starting college in September and I was going to get the surface 3 until I came across the 2020 XPS clamshell laptop. This little machine blows my mind by how versatile and portable it is.
if you ad a razor x chroma to the Dell XPS 13 930 do you think it could work to game with ore is this just possible with a laptop which already is heard to gaming like the razor stealth 13? thanks Matthew

I'm still having a difficult time deciding between these two. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like you get more display real estate on the SL3? Also, I love the design so much. Then again, the XPS 13 seems to have a superior display and performance. I honestly think I'd be happy either way which is no help to me. Joselyne Hernandez I ended up buying the surface laptop 3 13.5 inch in sandstone a few months ago and love it! Haven’t felt an ounce of regret. I guess it depends what you plan to use it for, but I’m more than happy with the performance, battery life and display.

is the Dell XPS Matte screen a screen protector or an actual matte screen ? And is this the New 2020 model?
The XPS FHD+ uses very high frequency PWM according to notebookchck's oscilloscope. If you're sensitive, you'll feel it. Not sure about the 4k. Glad to see more reviewers are taking PWM seriously, though.

for WIFI speed, i suggest you to open device manager and go to wireless card settings and change the power saving mode, had that with older XPS 13 model , i think it's a power saving feature , can you test the speed and update pls ?

I sent mine back because of loose trackpad. There are numerous problems with the xps 13 and xps 15.
Matt IJzz yeah I couldn’t make myself buy a Dell with their common quality issues. I ended up waiting a bit and bought myself an Asus ROG Zephyrus G14. That thing is a powerful light beast and 10 hours battery life.

Hey, but if you have money and are tied into the so called apple ecosystem.... the Macbook pro would be a good buy too. Just make a list of things important to your use case and draw a conclusion.

For me personally id pick the dell xps 13 (2019 or 2020 cos they are both rlly good) and i also have a 9360 (2017) and its just such a good device

Depends on your coursework. Windows is going to be an all-rounder coz of printer compatibility.
I am in trouble as I have an MB Air but I need to run a certain program via usb which only runs on windows & virtualisation is not gonna cut it.
Other softwares are also better optimised for windows like OBS studio etc.
The Study Channel you don’t need a virtual machine to get Windows on MacBook. Just use Bootcamp

What does it mean to have support for Linux distos? I thought you could run them on any x86 system.
Running Linux on surface laptops most of the time doesn't work due to compatibility issues... Not really surprising that Microsoft would want to make you stick to windows for their laptops =)

Picked up the Laptop 3 on sale for 825€ here in Spain, with the i5-1035G7. For that price, I could not resist, the Dell was 700€ more LOL with the i5-1035G1. I use the Laptop 3 for programming since I study Software Engineering, and is soo confortable. However, both laptops are incredibles.

I was planning to buy a surface laptop 3 but I’m having some doubts since I heard some stuff about the screen cracking spontaneously after a couple of days
After owning and returning one I also had some issues. A crunching noise when I closed the screen and a constant buzzing noise from the power plug input port. Swapping it for another laptop. Mine was a black metal which also has the reported cracking screen.
Which one is the best in every aspect ?

Need to have good performance, good batterylife, good touchpad, good keyboard, metal build, slick design, lightweight and the xps 13 checks all my boxes but I will wait for them to discount these laptops. I can get the i5 model with 512gb and sadly 8gb ram for €1300
The older xps 13 7390 i can purchase for only €1200 with i7 10510u, 512gb and 16gb ram
Or the dell xps 15 7590 for less than €1100 with an i7 9750H 8gbram(upgradeable) 256gb ssd(also upgradeable but sadly the battery is only 56watthour

at 2:50 are they both set to max brightness? surface looks a lot dimmer than what the numbers suggest.
No they're not brightness on surface is lower in that shot. But the dell does have a slightly brighter display. The difference is minimal

I've seen a guy with i7 4k touch model of xps13 and he claimed he was getting up to 6 hours top of battery life. FHD + i5 saves that much energy?
I don't know about the processor but they say just the screen saves 2 to 3 hours of battery life. And 4k on a 13 inch laptop is pretty overkill imo. Fhd is way to go on this size. At least for me and for now
Guys I need help - I grew up on Windows Laptops (low end) which always end up having loud fans or slowing down after utilising the hard drive. I bought a second hand MacBook Pro 2015 3 years ago and must admit never had such issues with fan or speed. I use my MacBook to primarily stream movies, download them, code a bit on terminal (happy to do powershell) and login remotely to work via Citrix etc. Can you advise if Windows laptops overheat? Or fans turn on and loud after hours of usage?
Yes they do overheat after extensive usage and the fans also get loud. There is something wrong with the magnetic charger port, I dont know if its my laptop or all of them but whenever i plug in the charger i can feel electromagnetic vibrations running through the entire laptop. Other than that pretty good.
