I'm a truck driver in Alaska, and in winter we don't shut ours trucks off, even when refueling., love your videos.

@@xARMM4G3D0Nx running up to Prudhoe Bay the teps drop to -100f , you can shut it off for a couple of minutes, but you shouldn't.

From what I've been seeing. It's available on pretty much everything. Which is a bonus for us that are on console but lack a good Truck driving game

@@rusticspark145 That is a good question. Currently the demo is only for PC, and not any console.
Its good to see the logo changed, I was upset that it was a carbon copy of ATS but im thankful they are trying to be their own brand now

I still find it strange that they called it 'Alaskan Truck Simulator', which is way too close to ATS - its especially odd since their cheeky marketing material says "be a TRUCKER, not a truck" - so therefore it should be Alaskan TRUCKER Simulator haha
@@andrewhickinbottom1051 yeah the marketing has been weak, but im not exactly disappointed with the in game yet. Its also not too impressive yet, right now im neutral on this title
Yeah they changed it, but it still looks very ATSy to me. Even the menu music seems similar to what ATS has.
@@BlueOvals24 the ATS music brings back memories of 18 wheels of steel haulin, a past SCS game that i grew up on. Nostalgic vibes, especially with the colorful background for the truck on screen

It’s actually kinda nice having a game where you can actually see towns in Alaska that you’ve been to living in Alaska is the greatest thing I swear Maybe sometimes
Thanks for showing this Jeff. Some interesting aspects I love for sure like walking around your truck and hooking the cables and those things as well as the fuelling is something I love and wish they'd have in ATS/ETS. Unsure personally regarding the survival aspects myself but certainly a point of difference.
I’ve had this in my wishlist for quite a while, glad to see a demo is out finally giving us a look. I was wondering if it was just gonna be an Alaskan version of ATS and I’m glad it’s entirely different. I really like the survival mechanic of it right down to the little things such as running it, it definitely has potential. Curious about mod support further down the road when the game releases, hope they allow it.
I would never turn the engine off in Alaska in the winter unless the engine is being torn into. Even in the 48 if I'm up north the truck doesn't turn off under 20
This is awesome. I have this on my wish list and I was sold when you read about the career and a sandbox. I have just as much fun creating and playing that creation as I do with career modes. AWESOME JEFF, thanks for showing us this game.
Working on my CDL right now so some weird things: 1- blinkers are not turned off automatically on some trucks (all the ones I used so far at least), 2- Usually no need to shutdown the engine to hookup, and no need to manually lock the pin, it should be done by the small impact when backing up.

Always good to check the pin just in case. You can drop a trailer if it doesn't luck automatically
@@the_guy_without_a_creative1808 Well, I backup to lock it, then get in 1st and try to go forward. That way I test it and know it holds. Then I raise the feet, connect everything, and do my pre-trip with it.
As a person with CDL holder for over a year. I second this. It's also noted there are 1 cord and 2 air hoses. Blue service brakes, red emergency brake, and green cord is for power. Strange that the back lights didn't even illuminate on te trailer when he hooked up.
In ETS in the beginning (long time ago) blinkers didn't turn off automatically either. Maybe a more difficult thing to program than it seems. They added it later, so maybe they add it here too. It's still a demo after all.
@@tdaonp Oh, I was trying to say the opposite. In real life, lots of trucks do NOT turn their turn signal off, you have to do it, at least for North American Trucks :)

My complaint with these kinds of games is that they look very "asset store" bash kit, and they probably are.
I can't wait for Australian Truck Simulator as well.. both games look interesting! Happy Tuesday everyone
That game from the demos looks very immersive hopefully it is as good as they made it look and if so hopefully ats can get to that level of immersion one day
@@Elzorro574 totally agree! I love ATS but being able to step out of your truck and fix it or relax is so nice. I hear in Siberian Train Simulator you’ll have to fight wildlife and other cool shit🔥
Thanks for the indepth demo Jeff! I'm happy to see it has different aspects to set it in a different place than going up against ATS. I think it's pretty cool. For people like me, it'll be a fun addition. I usually cycle between ATS, Snowrunner, and others

i love how you can get out of your truck and fill up gas and do work on the truck. It needs some work but I love the concepts. My issue I had was when I was using my xbox controller it wasnt smooth

Hey Jeff you remember when you picked up the chains earlier in the game those chains are for the tires that's why you were losing grip and you was in 8th gear in there the speed was at 20

Ngl I was pleasantly surprise by this demo. It's definitely an interesting twist on open world truck simming.
Might as well add bathroom breaks if we have to eat. They could have a 💩meter. Maybe we could spend time shopping for life insurance or after a long road trip, we come home to a cheating wife, and have to play divorce sim. Or maybe devs should stick to driving and add track IR.

I watched this video 7 months ago. Forgot all about it. Now I want to play it since I am back to playing ATS since not playing for a few years. Also how do you not have like 5 mil subscribers by now? I played with you a few times on a certain server and was in a few of the videos lol.

I have been wondering about this game ever since I seen the trailer for it and glad there's a demo out for it and it seems like it's gonna be pretty good and I like how interactive it is and how there's all kinds of different things you can do and it's pretty cool how you can fill up the oil and stuff in your truck thats pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing and when the game comes out I would love to see you play more of this. You are right, in Alaska in the winter the truckers do not turn there engine off, due to the fact that there engine can freeze. I hope they change the turning off the engine. Even when they go in to eat, they leave the trucks on. 😎

PLEASE revisit it Jeff it is such a good game! I had it on my wishlist since it was first put up on steam to get it so I was really excited to see the demo get released. The game easily way surpassed my expectations and I am way more than happy with how it turned out. I mean you can do so much stuff in the game that is absolutely awesome 😮
Okay after finishing the rest of the demo I have to admit Jeff definitely covered the coolest parts and then after he died there actually wasn't anything else really interesting. I remember being sad because you can't actually go into the stores like they got me believing you might be able to do based on the incredible realism (for real! I got a little too excited when I saw you could get out of the truck, sleep in it, go in the back, hook up the cables and do all that stuff) 🤷😂
But I was disappointed how soon the demo ended because I wanted to play more 😂

Deer sign should be caribou or moose crossing. Winter solstice you'll get no sun, summer solstice you'll get 24 hours of light. Black out curtains are a necessity here to sleep in the summer. This is set about 400 road miles from me, can confirm people cutting off large vehicles (motorhomes, big rigs, trucks towing boats). I think it tends to be done because of the lack of passing areas, and people are afraid of having to drive behind something slow for many miles. Looks like the game has promise.
So this is American Truck Simulator meets SnowRunner, basically! I'm a fan of both so I definitely want to give it a go :D

I had really low expectations for this game, but I was pretty pleasantly surprised by the reveal. I think I'll stick with the truck driving simulators but if I'm ever in the mood for survival now we've got a cool niche with trucks!
(Though now that I've seen what the game already has, I fully expect there to be a decent selection of trucks considering they're going the un-branded route)
I love how he got desesperated about food when he ate 3 servings of deer that fills over 80% at the start of the game.
Man the heater actually works and they really need to start updating American Truck Simulator LOL that's actually kind of cool. You know what if somebody actually passes that information on tell him that actually include air conditioner as well

I gave this a shot myself. Kinda cool. But somehow I had to fix that bridge before getting my trailer. Had to reference this video because the tutorial didn't update for the planks.

Its one thing to play a game on trucking its another animal to go out and do it. That is why they limit our hours to 14 driving in Alaska because we get tired from the mental capacity it takes to do this. Also most trucks at idle burn about 1 to 2 gallons an hour. Yes we dont shut down the trucks for fueling or hooking a trailer but It is awesome to have to hook it all up! besides locking the fifth wheel.... That happens when you back under the trailer it locks it self. But you do have to unhook them
