    The only truck I have rolled in my hardcore playthrough was the Tatra 8x8, was on a relatively normal hill on the first map that every other truck I used could handle.
    I have used every other truck (that I own) in that playthrough for at least 10x longer each, maybe I was caught off guard, but it really didn't like such a small slope.

    • @nerdyengineer7943
      @nerdyengineer7943 Před 8 měsíci

      Really? How?? I'm halfway through Michigan on my hardcore playthrough and I have rolled the Fleetstar lots of times, the GMC a bunch of times too. With all upgrades and a heavy load they roll right over easily.

    • @mykeh3155
      @mykeh3155 Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@nerdyengineer7943 Oh man, this was a while ago. From what I can remember it was because of the cargo being so high up and the truck being slow with a small footprint, as soon as I turned ever so slightly on a slight incline the truck just started to roll and I was unable to stop it since it was already super unstable and there were no winch points in that area. Cargo was literally just spare parts, not something I expected to have a significant impact.
      I don't have issues with other trucks because after a while you can learn their limits and see when they are reaching them based on how bouncy they are, but with slow trucks like that Tatra it is practically impossible to know in some situations as the bounces are so subtle until it eventually just goes. Speed is usually what helps the most in catching yourself after it starts going, and that's what the Tatra lacks the most, no speed meant I had little to no chance to save it and I missed that window before I realised what was happening.
      The fleetstar is a very bouncy truck, but thanks to its average speed and weight it's one that you can easily recover with a bit of practice, a great vehicle to learn how to stop a vehicle tipping over. The paystar is probably my favourite one though, slightly more tippy at speed but more than enough speed and a decent turning circle for catching yourself quickly.
      If it bounces more than usual then it's unstable, speed and turning will emphasise this, combining speed and either reverse or counter steering can often be enough to catch it before it rolls too far. Sometimes the best option is to turn towards the roll and drive down a hill until you can comfortably stop, then reverse back up at a different angle to take the corner a bit wider than normal, as long as you never fully stop until the truck levels itself you will never completely roll over.
      Another trick is to go further into the lows/highs before turning out of them, there are some pretty nasty spots on the 2nd Michigan map on that massive hill where you can flip a truck on a "flat" straight road, driving the whole truck into those dips before turning will completely prevent rolling in most situations, though you will have to slow down for them to avoid damage.

      @mykeh3155 Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@nerdyengineer7943 Oh damn, you are in for some fun then. Remember that in many cases slow is fast, and that roads can be very deceptive. The biggest challenge in hard mode is not wasting money on recoveries or recalling to a garage. The more careful you are about your routes and the more you know your truck(s) the easier and more enjoyable things get. Every now and then you may want to race somewhere, and it's totally fine if you find it fun, but for early hardmode remember that it can set you back quite far in both time and money if you take unnecessary risks, remember the tough parts and never underestimate them. I'm sure you will have a blast though since you were looking for advice, it's an amazing game once you get accustomed to how your fleet behaves.

      @Ben_Kimber Před 2 lety

      That's what I like about the Tatra T813 and the Tatra Force. They're slow and steady, incredibly fuel efficient, stable, and powerful. I tried to do that one mission where you take the oversized trailer from the Nature Reserve to the Tatra Facility with the T813 (as it was the best heavy truck I had at the time) and it took multiple hours to complete the task, mainly because the trailer kept getting high centered and stuck on hilly terrain, and once or twice, it got so terribly stuck that it took either 15 or 30 minutes to free it and continue moving forward, even with constant use of winches to wiggle it, and fiddling with the gearbox. The trailer also tipped over twice, and I had to bring in another truck to pull it back upright.

    The CAT 745C is my main truck for hauling medium logs, even though it can only carry one load of medium logs per trip, just because I know it will most likely make it. I tried to use the Western Star 49x and other semi trucks to haul 2 loads per trip using the medium frame add-on and log trailer, but I got tired of getting stuck or tipping over at the mere mention of uneven terrain. If you have a truck you can recommend for hauling medium logs that is both stable and good in mud when loaded with logs, I would love to hear it, because those tasks are otherwise tedious and painful, and since I don't personally know anyone else who plays Snowrunner, I can't "recruit some help" as so many task descriptions recommend.

I knew I couldn't get it past the rock slide closest to the garage, so I just drove straight off the cliff along the coast onto that path at the bottom. Thankfully, the Tatarin ended up rolling upright at the bottom, and I was able to get the Forester closer to the garage where I could reach it with my bigger trucks to repair it. @@puzzlesandquizzes505 I've never tried it in the snow. I'll have to give it a try later. Yes those mud tires that are wide does make it a little bit more stable.

    • @peterpike
      @peterpike Před 2 lety

      I flip my Tatarin all the time. Granted, it's off of cliffs because the turning radius is so bad that I end up halfway off the road on simple corners and then it ends up pulling me down the side of the cliff. It's still a lot of fun to drive, just a hassle to try to flip back over with the autonomous winch, since once it's on it's back it doesn't want to flip over from there.

    ow.. Tayga.. but no Voron 4380? strange.. IMO that truck has one of the most flexible suspension, perfect clearance etc., yea, it's a little bit hard to steer sometimes, but you can adapt to this issue)

    • @SD1ONE
      @SD1ONE  Před 2 lety

      you know I prefer voron 4380 over tayga because of it's superior ground clearance but if I have to choose on basis of stablity alone then I would choose tayga as it's wide tires provide better stablity than voron's best tires and this video is about stable trucks.
