I know there are a lot of simulators out there but I never thought the mundane job I do everyday as a state DOT highway worker would be turned into a video game.
They’ll make a simulator out of everything these days. Makes you wonder…at what point will the simulation blend with reality. With AR we could get dangerously close to that paradigm. What a world. Great video as always!
When they actually complete and make the simulation game fully. Ie not just beta, early access, cash grab, dump it, on to the next one. If they could do this. Then maybe maybe it would be damn close to reality.
Tbh though, simulation games are where it's at. Believe it or not, people love games like this and can get addicted. I'm still hoping for a key to play the snow plow game Jeff showed not too long ago.

Obviously a simulator, being about a realistic as a fantasy RPG. Nobody cleans up road verges, except when the council decides to send the street sweeper around, at least in urban areas. Guardrails are left as is for years on end. It was also missing the bloke/s standing around doing nothing, whilst the apprentice or junior does all the, minimal, work.
My fatherinlaw works for DOT and he somtimes is asked to " run " a prison crew. So he will collect the prisoners in the DOT van , take them to the site, and watch over them as they work. Somtimes they are picking up trash, somtimes they are cuttimg the grass in the median of the interstate. Hes gotten more then a few of them jobs after the were released. So if anyone who reads this is ever locked up, remember that there is life after prison and all you have to do to get restarted is to work hard. Its just like life, jeff i think will back me up. If you want anything there is no easy way to get it and you have to work hard to get it. This jeff apears to be another sim to show what some workers do each day. Love you brother . Keep it up! Glad you decided to give it a try so we can see how this game works. I was actually kinda hoping that you would and here it is, you’re one of the best at finding hidden gems and saving us money when a game isn’t up to par. 👍
This needs "leveling" type system as you complete the same repetitive tasks, then you can carry more items at once, and also load more into the wheelbarrow, etc.. so you can complete tasks quicker, and then you get promoted, and can hire someone to do the jobs, but you have to periodically check on them, to make sure they're doing them correctly, etc.. while you complete more and more complex tasks, and eventually you become the manager of the whole facility.

You aren't wrong Jeff, prisoners and people on bail will have to do a set amount of community service (picking up trash or cleaning graffiti etc) This is definitely an interesting sim, probably good to kill time or relax lol
Not in Florida where he is from. The prisoners used to pick up the trash, but the FDOT (Florida Dept. of Transportation) and the FDC (Florida Dept. of Corrections) didn't redo their contract to have prisoners pick up the trash I think last year. But you are right on the community service aspect.
The trash pick-up sequence reminds me of a joke my father-in-law told me years and years ago. A man is tasked with striping a road by hand. The first day he got 100 yards of striping done, and the boss was happy. The second day, he got 50 yards done. The boss thought it odd but didn't say anything. The third day, he only completed 6 yards of stripes. The boss was concerned. "What's going on, fella? You started out strong, but today you only got 2 stripes?" "Well, I kept getting farther away from my bucket."
The tediousness of this game is actually very realistic for the job that you're doing. Presumably you're a DPW worker which, in the northeast US is a union job with the government so carrying the minimum amount of equipment at at time, back and forth to the truck, would be policy to avoid workplace injury such and strains and pains. Everything has a home in the yard and if you take it from there, you put it back there as well. The only thing that I know most construction crews in the Northeast do is load the truck for the job they are doing tomorrow, before they go home at night. So all there is to do when you get in, is get in the truck, grab some coffee and get to the job site.
I like that he talked about not knowing how to use the turn signals and said they probably don’t have them….then drove around with his right turn signal on during the first mission. Haha
I wished they had this game in a North American version😪 also what they do in my area is the NYDOT leave the bags on the side and drive along and then pick up along the way when their done.

When I was a kid i had the Atari 2600, then the first Nintendo came out. Never in my life did I think games would come as far as they have. It's a neat game I'm curious what the other missions are.
having done this kind of work in the UK, i can't say it's that realistic - anything involving traffic is always at least a 2 man job. looks like a easy going fun sim though. i wonder if one of the higher levels will be an accident clean up. i had one that needed power hoses and steam jets... not paticularly nice.

Just tried out a Forklift simulator called "Best Forklift Operator". It's fun.. Early access on Steam, they got vr and they're setting up optimization for wheels coming soon hopefully
What an interesting Sim. Not at all surprised! Lol. Also, it's nice they have a prompt to automatically load remaining items! The monotony can get dreadful.
Even though these games are fun and whatnot, things like this seem rather silly... If people want to pick up trash for hours at a time, there's a world outside your very door filled with garbage that needs to be collected! Then you do a good deed, help the environment and get some excersise at the same time!😄

$25 is pretty steep in my book for this early of a game release, and only 30 missions. I'd buy it at $7.99, and then do DLCs. Camera angles definitely need improvement (FPPOV is decent). I do like how the traffic behaves with the signals and barricades, though you do need a few that just decide to go rogue and run them. LOL. It would also be nice if this was US based for a change. Seems a lot of sims focus more in Europe (yeah I know devs are there). DOTs in the US have a hell of a job. One sim I would love to see is installing traffic signals, roadway lighting and road signs. Could be a good training sim for those in the industry.
Gotta love these little sims. Like winter snow plow sim and more. Have you saw the new truck sim coming out. It looks decent. Who knows when it’s coming out but I hope you play it.

In North Carolina it’s called put construction zones up and do nothing for the next 20 years and cause traffic

Jeff you can select other jobs by clicking on the green pins on the map in the job board, you don’t have to do the one that pops up 🙂
I know when i lived in riverview FL I use to see prisoners cleaning the highways..I live in st Pete now don't see it as often here

There are turn signal buttons in the controls screen that I saw you missed.
This game started off a little tough but once you get the controls down it looked like it was a good game to just chill watch Netflix and just play.
I liked it! I thought it was cool. Kinda repeats its self but I want to see that paver in action and everything that goes with that!
