    If Tejas was supported even more by IAF and GoI, we would have a superior fighter than Gripen. But we couldn't support Marut, and Tejas was almost killed by the import party, not to forget we were doing all this after heavy sanctions from the west. Now, we must let the Tejas reach its full potential in Tejas Mk2 and its variants.

    • @r8rdarklord
      @r8rdarklord Před rokem

      Tejas has lot of support from GoI. If it was an independent vendor Tejas Mk1 would have been rejected for not meeting its specifications. The IAF inducted Tejas with the hope that they will sort out there issues. Read AGIs report which gives these kinds of details.

      No, producing indian designed fighter will give lot of understanding to out researchers and designers , even manufacturing su-30 mki in india is costlier than importing it from Russia
      But we still manufacture

    • @r8rdarklord
      @r8rdarklord Před rokem +1

      @@akshayingle HAL sells SU 30 MKI at twice the price of what it would take to buy SU 30 SM2 from Russia off the shelf. This is one reason the IAF hates buying fighter jets through HAL indigenous or manufactured under TOT.
      The best solution is to choose whatever fighter jet you want to buy in large nos. and ask the company to establish a JV with 49% stake. They will find a partner (I think Saab already has an MOU with Mahindra defense) to build a plant & start manufacturing. Indians will get employment, and over time they will source parts in India itself. IAF will be able to procure these fighter jets at a lower cost than if it tries to get a ToT. Looks like a win-win all around. HAL is the only loser in this deal. BTW TASL, Dynamatic technologies, etc are all manufacturing fighter jet components for F16, F18, Airbus, etc.

    Even though Gripen is a good jet on offer, it stands little to no chance as India will neither get engine tech nor any sort of geo-political leverage by buying Gripen. Buying Grippen is a whole bummer for India in all aspects except economical aspect.
    Sweden is a 'non influential' country in MRFA, pleasing Sweden has no political gain in the international stage unlike USA, Russia, England or France.
    Grippen is a single engine fighter in light category and because of it it'll have less weapons load and comparing it with heavier and bigger aircrafts is not fair.
    And the biggest one, Sweden is a big ally of Pakistan and is even now supplying them with radar systems & electronics, the latest being for the Sultan maritime patrol aircraft, so the superior electronic warfare capabilities of grippen will be similar to what Pakistan (China) operates and while France agreed they won't give any military help to Pakistan like upgrading their mirages or their agosta class submarines Sweden became their close European ally.

    Gripen NG *could have been* a great bet had we gone ahead with the MMRCA project, considering that Sweden were willing to help HAL complete the Tejas quickly and even lend a helping hand in designing the AMCA.
    But then swooped in Modi ji with his courageous move to order 36 Rafales off the shelf, annihilating the red tape that had dogged our defence procurement system till then.
    It was an important, landmark decision for the IAF and for maintaining India's heft in the region.
    Then came the thrust on his pet "Make in India" initiative that encouraged indigenous defence manufacturing, which led to the inspirational decision to create the Tejas MkII, TEDBF, and AMCA in one single decisive move.
    Atmanirbhar Bharat only enhanced the idea of quickly designing and manufacturing defence equipment to fulfill our forces' needs in a timely fashion.
    With the lethal and classy Tejas MkII, TEDBF, and AMCA to roll out soon enough, there seems to be little room for another single-engined fighter in the IAF.
    Sorry, Saab.

Now, the prime thing is many parts are taken from other pakistani and Chinese aircraft example it's wings are not used on MIG 33 whereas it's almost 90% the crop wing configuration on f16, it's intake is different like on mirages and old chinese prototypes, even engine bay is bigger and have a bump to reduce RCS.
