We had a golden opportunity to join Tempest program we could have accessed latest technology and weaponry but our short sight vision and cursed atmanirbharta had dwindled us . Indigenization of Defence products requires lots of research and development and also must require development of new infrastructure facilities with proper funding and India is slowly pursuing all the right steps it would take time but surely we will reach the level of indigenization that we want

Other armed forces should take lessons from Indian Navy....seems like Indian Navy is the only armed force of India which truly cares and supports about Atmanirbhar...I strongly believe that there are import lobbies present in other two arm forces.
Navy is an avid importer of foreign Equipment. All their fighters are imported . Their reconnaissance aircrafts are imported. MH 60R romeo are imported . That Slow and inefficient Heli AEWACS is imported. They are still inducting obsolete design ski jump carriers, whose fighters are imported 😂and which cannot launch long range AEWACS from it's deck . Indian Navy is biggest member of Chandigarh Lobby.

Atmanirbharta cannot be achieved without the participation of the private sector. Today, almost all of the best technologies are being developed by private players all over the world, of course with some government support. We need the best brains to develop these technologies, but brain drain is a major problem for us. Like it or not, the majority of people will choose to work for Western companies for better pay and a better standard of living. We need private sector involvement that can hire, pay, and nurture the best talent in India on par with the international level.

These sorts of comments after you choose an unreliable partner country like USA for your engines- it’s entirely IAF’s fault. ADA built with 404 engine based on their specification after all. LCA should have been built with multiple engine options from the start, with development being kept up on Kaveri

@@abhilashyadav2274 Uncle- I used to work in aerospace sector. Don’t teach me about aircraft. IAF is at fault for choosing US engine and completely neglecting Kaveri programme. USA already delayed LCA programme severely during development of initial prototype also (post Pokhran tests and subsequent sanctions). France was our willing partner even then, as was Russia. A US engine should never have been chosen going by past history of same programme.

IAF is solely responsible for today's scenario.
Tejas developed since long time but due to lack of confidence from IAF side, the project delayed. IAF always influenced by the foreign firms.
IAF should learn from China, if you expect world class technology from the Ist day of indigenous it is foolish ness, rather support and co-operate technologically for gradual achievement.
Apart from Defence PSU, the Biggest Failure is from the Big and Large Corporate, they dont carry Vision and neither commit funds in R&D .
Indian corporate wants quick return, and Defence relates takes time to Mature, other country Private sectors plays an proactive Roles and commit there own money for building up capabilities, and later Govt there Join them. The Best example is Turkish Drone company Bayraktar

By seeing how much they fucked up deals with the companies of other countries ,forget our private companies ,even I won't trust them that even if the private companies make a good product they will reject these products for foreign products . Armed forces are buying these products and that shows that private companies are right in their approach . The private companies and startups that are actually making their own indigenous products ,their products are being bought by foreign countries like Armenia ,Brazil ,African countries ,Phillipines ,Vietnam ,even European countries and USA too.

Why IAF join hands with Navy and negotiate with Dassault nd French govt. for line in India. Choose 54 for IAF + 26 for Navy and the same line can be used by Dassault for export.

IAF said: Atmanirbharta is must, that's the the must. Also security aspect is the first. BUT IAF, govt and HAL lag on long term requirement/preparation and contingency plan for imported parts/engines. Imported aircraft and parts will always give trouble in war times and global supply chain disruptions.
