  • This installment features a recording of a conversation I had with Tennessee State Medical Examiner Doctor Jerry Francisco several years ago when I began in earnest, my search for the truth in the "Pusser Legend."
    In this conversation, you can hear what Doctor Francisco had to say regarding the autopsy of Louise Hathcock as well as out discussion about why an autopsy was never performed on Pauline Pusser.

    The depth and the breadth of corruption back then was enormous. The fact that no one pursued the shooting of Louise Hathcock any further could very well be the reason why the questions of Pauline’s death were never addressed. Having worked in a small TN town, I know the frustration of having legitimate questions ignored by the powers that be. You ask yourself, do I really want to end up on the autopsy table? You are basically on your own with no one to support your findings or speak out at all.
    My dear friend entered law enforcement before I did. He worked a wreck with a passenger death. He went to the hospital to have blood drawn from the driver, who was the son of a prominent local and was extremely intoxicated, and was cussed out for mentioning it. Then when he went to the DA with his warrant for vehicular homicide, the DA ripped it up and threw it away, saying are you F’ing kidding me with this? My friend was tormented from there on out, and eventually had to leave the department and work for another neighboring agency, or lose his cool from the torment.
    Having things swept under the rug and ignored was an all too common occurrence back in the day. I totally understand why Pauline’s death was accepted at face value and never questioned.

    I served at Fort Bragg from 75 to 78 and we were talking about the movie Walking Tall. We all thought it was a great movie except one guy, and he became angry about it saying the movie was all b.s and he knew B.P and he wasn't a good guy. His last name was Bunch.

Adamsville is afraid it's gonna ruin their economy. If Buford is a proven liar, they gonna repaint the water tower? Dwanna is gone don't think her children the only ones that matter are gonna cause a fuss no money in it. The museum and home belong to the state of Tennessee I believe? We'll see. I'd like to add this for context:
    During Pusser's tenure as sheriff of McNairy, there would have most likely been an unusual amount of federal law enforcement presence in that area. Philadelphia, Miss is around 3 hours south of the state line on highway 45. The MIBURN case went on a few years. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was murdered nearby in Memphis in 1968. It's highly likely McNairy County was doing everything it could to avoid federal presence. Given the rumors and legends even of moonshine operations in the area.

    • @coreybumgardner3846

    The fact that the reconstruction showed that a chase vehicle could not catch Pussers vehicle by the time it reached the bridge like Pusser said brings a lot of doubt as to Pussers honesty !!
    As ive said before this may have been a double cross !
    The criminals may have had a deal with Pusser to help him with a false ambush .. to shootup his car with an already deceased Pauline in the passenger seat while Pusser stood a a safe distance ! Then pusser was supposed to get back in pull over and give himself a minor flesh wound.
    However the criminals may have decided that this was also their chance to surprise Pusser and get rid of him. So as they pulled away they shot for his head but hit the jaw !
    I say this because i could see pusser shoting himself in the arm or something but blowing his own jaw out is going a little too far !

You have a deep conviction regarding Pusser and you basically told him what you knew and that was the interview with a few yeps and yeahs from him. I find your stories very interesting. And enjoy your page. Let them speak, they were there. I hope you take this in the light it is intended. Your research is good.

    • @bufordpusser1122
      @bufordpusser1122  Před 4 měsíci +5

      I understand your point, however, people don't often wish to speak about sensitive matters, especially with a total stranger over the phone. You have to try and keep them engaged as they can hang up on you at any time.
      Doctor Francisco mentioned more than once that Warren, Jones had suspicions about Pauline's death, also that Jones asked him to go to the scene with him. Francisco also confirmed what I had heard about the Pussers being separated, something I was on the fence about.
      Another important find was when he explained the protocols for having an autopsy performed. Different states have different regulations. This was important information as I was wondering about Doctor Peeler's and D.A. Abernathy's willingness to pursue the truth.
      Then he volunteered information about Buford's BAC and confirmed that he was intoxicated, something that Pusser fans hate to hear.
      I think there was a lot of good information gained.

    • @johnpoarchjr6900
      @johnpoarchjr6900 Před 4 měsíci

      I would to pont out that at no time did Dr. Francisco say that had any proof of pusser doing any thing wrong. Most of what you say is based on hear say. From people that are related to persons that pusser had arrested shot or owned bars at that time. And in so far as saying some one is suspicious means nothing. That's not evidence. You have to have more than rummors. I mean know disrespect but people say things about others all the time out of spite ext... As far as Buford lieing about his injury's what was in the movie was aways made clear to be only based on truth not all real. For instance if pusser waited to white wash his story he would not let the book the twelfth of August be published. It was made clear he drove fast and was a big drinker. And he handcuffed towhead white and beat him to a pulp. My late father had received tickets from Buford. I had been to his house before he died spoken to his daughter many times. Spoke to Buford. Aways very nice people. Last but not least in my life I have terrible things said about me that were false. Any time you do a job and do it well.that gives you any authority or you have go against some one for any reason some people will say things that are intrue. Time will tell when Pauline s autopsy comes back.

      Nice try...however, you have overlooked so much information in your assumption it amazes me. If issues were as you say, why wasn't her autopsy report presented to the grand jury? Why weren't others who heard the order of the shots fired not called to testify? Why wasn't Howard Carroll compelled to testify about hearing her begging for her life prior to shots being fired? Why did Jim Moffett leave the sheriff's office for a short time after the shooting?
      End of story...

    If she was shot somewhere else how did all her blood get on the door and on the middle of the seat, if your shot some where else you heart stops and there wouldn’t be blood like that in that car

    That's cool that they put your name on your badge. Was that the way your agency did them or was that what they gave you upon retirement? Our deputies just get their badge # on them and they belong to the department. That would be cool if they put the name on it when they retire.
