#16 BUFORD PUSSER: The Other Story "The Death of Louise Hathcock."

- This episode is about the death of Louise Hathcock. Was her death the result of justifiable homicide or was she murdered by Sheriff Buford Pusser. See what her autopsy report shows, the one the grand jury investigating her death did not see. Her what a witness had to say about the shots fired and what Chief Deputy Jim Moffett told his wife and son afterward.
Mike, as Bufford's deputy told Louise was drunk and tried to kill him, Bufford walked tall and fired back. The autopsy showed she was drunk like the deputy said and he dug out her round.
And some people on here saying, you need to get justice for Louise Hathcock, she was a criminal, a bad one Deputy Plunk said that he would rather have Al Capone chasing him than her. So that tells me a little bit.
Peatie later became a used car salesman, so...
@Rockjunkie my point exactly, he later became a used car salesman. What are used carsalesmen good at? Lying and story telling .
I was once a Buford Pusser fan myself
Until I found out more about it because I'm from Caruthersville
And I know a lot of insight on this man and he was not a good man
Mike ,
Is that actual footage from the Shamrock from 0.43 to 1.53 minutes ?
Anyone can make up a story like this, but I don't see any proof of his story or anything that is A official document .
BINGO! "The Other Story" is highly suspect.
I don't see any official documents. Just his homemade stuff. He speaks that it is facts but he doesn't have any real government documents or accounts of anything. Just his heresay of his own story.
A person might get a new name, but they do not get a new SS number. It stays with them all their life.
Mike is A fantasy story teller but he doesn't have any proof of anything with actual documents.
He is clearly Jealous and envious of Buford and his Legacy and tries his hardest to defame and slander Buford
@universaltalentbookings1389 Lmfao! You're so simple-minded.
Bufort Pusser , was a good man , and Pauline
his wife was a good woman. God Bless them both. 🙏 Kevin Phoenix ✝️
I have questions about the name change documents. It is my understanding that when a person has a name change on a social security card the name will change but the original social security number remains the same number. DL showing two different birthdates and middle initial changed??????
Excellent work Mike! Thank you for the truth! We need justice for Louise and dear Pauline!
I did it
Reep what you sow.
She will have her chance before the Lord.
@fingerinbum7497
Your disgusting
I knew people who knew Buford personally. My step dad was one. This mike guy is telling nothing but lies
So, you knew somebody, who knew somebody, that, knew somebody...great post.
Back in the 80s I worked on the television series that had Joe Don Baker in it. It was in the heat of the night. I worked on the show as a camera operator. And had several conversations with Joe Don Baker on his involvement with walking tall. He told me one day the only thing that was accurate about that movie was the wardrobe.
Buford like to dress well and rarely wore blue jeans.
The show was called "Eishied" he played the New York City Police Commissioner.
@@karltork6040 it was “in the heat of the night” he filled in for several episodes while Carol O’Connor recovered from heart surgery.
@@forwardomni1355Sorry, never watched that show so I didn't know about that.
I just enjoyed "Eishied" for the one season it was on N.B.C. on Friday night.
Wow That’s really interesting!
What about the body of Pauline being exhumed recently?
Why didnt this all come out before now
To this day the current sheriff and his crooked d.a. will prosecute you while knowing you are innocent. Bucky boy.
Thank You, Love the book
Thanks so much!
@User39. You settled that
Which part? Post your state sanctioned documentation as I have that backs your view. I'll wait.
@@bufordpusser1122 I was being sarcastic towards @user39. Your book has more than enough evidence, I get sick thinking I used to think He was a hero based on the movies.
Great video Mike , I intend to get your book. It's kind of heartbreaking to learn years later that Bufords story in the movie was a work of exaggeration. I looked up to him at age 14.
He's defending A gangster woman ! Good luck with that one.
Against a ganster sheriff
Sorry but I'm going to need to see some hard evidence that Buford Pusser was corrupt and none has been presented thus far. Just theories and hearsay so far.
Any evidence of corruption? I see none
Does Greg have any proof to make that claim?
Were in the end days where the criminals get defended as the heroes and the heroes made to be the criminals.
I don't know enough about Toehead or W.O. to form a definitive opinion, and I want to be respectful because Dennis is still alive; but I believe if Buford hadn't killed Louise then someone else would have. Between people losing their shirts due to the Razzle (Dazzle) game, and others being slipped Mickeys and having money and belongings disappear, Louise was stacking up enemies like cordwood.
I think as long as she was just playing the Razzle (Dazzle) game and selling under-the-table hooch, Buford looked the other way as long as she was paying her "dues." But drugging and rolling her guests may have been too much for Buford to condone.
Buford was no Eagle Scout to be sure but he was a businessman, and the reports of frequent thefts at the Shamrock would bring too much negative publicity to the area. Did Louise die that night because Buford told her to stop drugging and rolling her clientele, and in a drunken rage she told him where to get off? STTA.
I know this is off subject but my grandpa. Harpert Buell sipes a longtime resident of McNairy county Tennessee was hit by a car as he was walking on the side of South highway 45 on December 6th 1966 . My grandpa was a preacher and he was also a womanizer and I'm thinking this was not an accident it was very suspicious even though they said he was hit by a drunk driver while walking on the side of the road... I guess this is listed in the Jackson Sun newspaper December 7th 1966 but I don't know how to bring that up .... Nobody ever questions anything the good old boys down there just look the other way... . 😊
Odd that her SS# changed with her name change.
Yes it is.
At what point was she begging for her life
I got your book on my way. Going be a interesting read
I hope you enjoy it!
When is part 2 coming??
Great work, I enjoyed it. Thank you!
when i was a young boy buford was a hero to me. I drove to mcnairy county tn to see his home ect. I watched the movie countless times. When i got older and paid more attention to detail it states a fictional account inspired by events. This the movie wasn’t factual keeps being repeated. When some speaks ill of Buford mike perks up. loves it. just an observation. I will say I myself saw it odd to allow your wife to ride along pre dawn to a disturbance call knowing the “dixie mafia” has been after you. Just doesn’t make sense. Aside from that I just dont think buford would be smart enough to stage an ambush then shoot his own face away. You would have to a genius to get that by competent investigators. The Hathcock shooting seems like a lotta bullets and falling all over a small room but i wasn’t there. The car wreck that took his life was depicted as foul play. I just believe he had a lead foot and lost control driving at high speeds. maybe alcohol was involved. I really dont think he was run off the road or steering tampered with. Was the movie true? Absolutely not. was it entertaining. yes. Was buford a bad ass. most likely. I do think WO Hathcocks son Dennis is being as honest as his memory is but alot is what he heard
Anyone know is shes left handed?
Man I remember grandaddy hosting a ton of them crap games back in his boot legging days good times used to fascinate me as a young kid
My suggestion to you would be to find a professional videographer or editor to spice up your videos. They are interesting but a bit dry. I mean that as politely as possible. Just that your videos would attract a lot more attention in a world of short attention spans if you had punchier videos, music and editing.
I feel like you are sitting on a hugely popular Netflix style documentary with the right partner.
I mean this to be helpful and positive, not critical. I don’t mean to offend.
I feel like you are an outstanding researcher and reporter but finding a partner that can edit the videos to be more attention getting would benefit you greatly.
Regardless, I’m enjoying your content. Keep up the great work. Think that I may go get your book.
THANK YOU FOR TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT MY AUNT AND MY UNCLE W.O. !
No Walking Tall was was not a true story but what movie are actually true!
Saying that, what this video tells me is that everything in this video is also fiction and Without proof.
Sure, I made up the FBI files I use, oh, and I probably made up that autopsy report on Louise Hathcock as well! Why didn't I think to make up one on Pauline as well??? Put on your thinking cap Tom Terrific.
PUNL
You are doing exactly what you said was wrong you are speculating and using your opinion instead of the facts. By insinuating, the bruises on her wrist, you said, did she get those begging for her life? And several other times you are using your opinion and there’s no doubt you want to find him guilty.
Did y'all ever hear about or talk to Jim Treesie
Great story so glad to have found this channel very interesting !! I saw the movie when it came out!!
Thank you once again For your Hard Research interviewing the people that were there, Really enjoyed my Autograph book thank you....
Thank and glad you enjoyed the book.
@@bufordpusser1122 There would be such an investigation these days thank you for bringing this to light... Happy holidays....
I talked to him in the late 80's he told me some stories had a few guns and a car an was business partner in land with Bufords
Did anyone else hear the shots ? Did they give statements? If so what did they say ?
I still would be very careful around McNairy County Tn. I am guessing they still get lot of tourists over Buford Pusser story. Back in them days if sheriff said it happened that way that is the way it happened with a big period at the end..Them days we would been lucky in my home county if we had 2 squad cars running in the whole county. Times has sure changed a lot from them days. I was a little kid in 1960’s it was common to practice shooting guns beside the road. Common set beside the road driving beer & drag racing at night after like 11 o’clock. No traffic unless a Grayhound bus coming through or coal miners going or coming home in my area.
The good old days...
Any idea what ever became of deputy Mofit and Petey Plunk ?
Moffett stayed in law enforcement for several more years. Plunk became a used car salesman. If I'm not mistaken, both passed way in the mid 90s.
@@bufordpusser1122 used car salesman is a big jump from from a deputy sheriff isn’t it ?
@@ralphmiller986more money in used cars
Moffett was much like Commisoner James Gordon from Batman, from what I heard. A good man, investgator, and the only uncorrupt cop around.
Her son said the autopsy showed she was shot in the back by pusser which of course as Mike mentions the grand jury wasant allowed to see it as thye kept the truth quiet.
as a 30 year LEO, I too want to believe Sheriff Pusser's story, but Mike has done an accurate and FAIR job reporting and debunking the reported facts in this case.
Thank you sir... just trying to keep it factual.
There are some rotten apples in every profession. We are thankful for the good ones. Congrats on a 30 year career in a tough job.
I disagree. He is obviously extremely biased. He wrote a book about it. Not that there is anything wrong with bias. Everyone has it and I do not have a dog in the fight. I will say that the Dunning-Krueger effect is very evident in Mr Elam's interpretation( especially of the autopsy report-that was cringeworthy). Humans have a natural tendency towards conspiracy theories especially the uneducated. And the internet has made this all the more apparent. There is no doubt that there is probably a little truth on both sides of this saga. In a perfect world there would be people who didn't think the earth was flat, that man didn't land on the moon, and that there was a 'second' shooter on the grassy knoll. We can dream.........
GLOCK Good comment and I agree. I believe the truth is somewhere in the middle. Buford Pusser was neither a hero or a fraud. I don't recall Buford Pusser ever claiming to be a hero. He even said the movie about his life was exaggerated. He was for sure big strong and tough by all accounts but that doesn't necessarily add up to being a hero. As far as being corrupt I doubt he was any more corrupt than the rest. He was just human and flawed like the rest of us. It's just sad and pathetic that people are making money and gaining fame off of trashing his name. Especially since he is not here to defend himself
Well where are the facts? I haven't noticed any yet. And he will not respond to questions.
well documented but i dont buy your theories, people twist getting and shooting in a tussle for your life, especially drunk
Bo svensen
So he set this up and your saying BUFFORD had to lay down to make the shot from her Hun which ur saying was fired upward from the floor I assume ? With that BIENG said if she indeed had a gun she could have fired while falling based on it shot trajectory from the .38 either way it would make no sense for him to fire it from the floor after she fell which means she had to indeed be "ARMED" AND HE GOT THE DROP FIRST IT EXACTLY WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TO ME HER BAD LUCK AND THE FIRST SHOT FEOM THAT .41 PROBABLY SPUN HER AROUND I KNOW IT WOULD ME ,AND HE WAS STILL FIRING AS SHE TURNED HE DINT SHOOT HER IM COLD BLOOD THE WOMAM HAD GUM POWDER OM HER RIGHT HAND BUT THAY WAS LEFT OUT HUH MOT BUYING IT FRIEND BUT THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESEARCH IYS ALWAYS INTERESTING
@dennismcconnell4222 I'm a retired deputy sheriff 9 years in homocide I'm not assuming anything I'm going of your info of the shot trajectory it was upward why would.bufford if he staged it fire the shot upward from the floor that makes no sense at all if she was standing with the gun when she fired Pete plunk tells it diff in his interview it's all confusing regardless I don't think he murdered her
@dennismcconnell4222 no I think the man was hard ass law enforcement and he was ready after already BIENG shot by these people she pulled a gun and unfortunately she missed and he dint she had already got away with killing her husband I think she fig she would try it again and it dint go so well for her ,I guess you think he killed his wife while driving 2 DIFF cars and firing 3 diff guns and then shot himself in the face cause he dint wanna mouth anymore that man may have went for revenge damn he had every right to they tried to kill him countless times there is no denying that I'm any case your opinion is interesting I COMMEND your efforts I mean I no harm I just have a diff theory based on the evidence
@dennismcconnell4222 also there are people everyday that shoot at cops knowing they are gonna be shot back why do any of them do it
😊@@montejones9370
Do you publish your book as fiction or non you should do the latter
The statement about the .38 special's report is manipulated by the poster. Hathcock's pistol was alleged to be a snub nosed pistol. A layman two rooms away would not be able to distinguish the report of a .38 short barreled pistol as opposed to the report of a .41 magnum or .41 special pistol with a 6-8" barrel, especially if those weapons were fired away from the location of the hearer.
As to indicting sheriff Pusser, the old saying is that a competent prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich if they chose to. A grand jury is a one sided exercise slanted in the favor of the state, so the fact that the sheriff wasn't prosecuted speaks volumes as to his guilt of criminality in Hathcock's death.
did this all happen before buford and his wife were ambushed of after??????????
It was a year before.
Baker wasn't in the series
I wonder will this be considered a COLD CASE?
No. As far as the law is concerned it is solved. She was shot in self defense by Buford Pusser. The end.
@@patchadams4me ☹️😢how sad..My Momma has the book The STATELINE MOB or Mafia I forget which and I read it and it was some scary stories in that book to
@@patchadams4me why would he shoot his own wife when the Mob was after Buford
Why are you so sure he shot his own wife?@@user-cb2oj9oy6c
Someone else wrote somewhere else as fictional!
Wheres your proof
Imagine your last name being Pusser tho 🥹
Are you saying he shot her in the back twice, then rolled her over to take the 3rd shot to her face?
Mike Elam would want you to believe that Louise Hancock was an angel, because she was Mike Elam aunt ,so don’t expect him to say that what she really was an evil person, she damn sure was no angel , just a crooked thief and a murder , other people were victims not Louise
All cops get away with wrong doing. This is nothing new.
It explains something I have often wondered, why Bufford always had a room at the Shamrock. Which I was told, the other was why he never was ambushed there.
Well done, Mike!
Not only Burford was on the take, it also appears that the DA and the judge may was on the take.
