    You can call us Taste Buds or the Two Guys behind the counter, it doesn't matter to us. We are two guys from Missouri doing a Craft Beer Review and a Whiskey Review (or Whisky Review depending where you are from) with a drive to always Try Something New. We won't drive you crazy with snobby tasting notes that no one else will understand, just a general idea of what the beer or food tastes like. We want YOU to join us in trying exciting new things to open our minds, and pallets, to something different. So join Chris Horn and Lyal Strickland as we foray into some suds and grains and stumble all over ourselves trying to sound smarter than they really are. Some of the things we love to try are Scotch, Bourbon, Rum, Tequila, wine, and craft beer of all kinds. We argue between Stouts and Porters, IPA and Sour, Farmhouse and Lager. I'm sure there isn't anything we won't disagree about except that we like to try new stuff.
    If you have a favorite brewery or Distillery or anything else, be sure to send us a message so we can try it at Thosetastebudguys@gmail.com

    They do have an extra anejo, which sells for a bargain $1700 (give or take a Tears of Lllorona). The amazing thing about it is, despite requiring 3 yrs to age, was available when they launched the brand!! Can you say "contract distilling"? I knew ya could. NOM 1438 does a ton of it, including the crappy house brands from Total Wine. Only decent one I have had is Siempre.

      Whistlepig did a similar thing on the rye side. We had a 15 year when they hadn’t been in business that long haha. So, we’ve been less and less impressed with the cincoro and think if you’re going for sweet, non traditional tequilas you can find a very similar profile for a helluva lot less. Still, cool bottle to have on the shelf for what that’s worth. What’s your favorite anjeo? We’ve striking out on those lately with the exception of Ocho. -Lyal

      @@tastebudguys I have been buying a LOT of anejos lately. Ive managed to stock up on a couple of my faves before the prices started creeping up (El Tesoro and Siete Leguas).
      I have an Ocho El Bajio Anejo but haven't opened it yet, but I did buy a case of the 2020 La Loma Blanco. It is difficult to say which is my favorite because there are such a wide array of profiles, and they all have a place in my heart except the sweet manipulated ones like Cincoro and Clase Azul. . There are some with very strong barrel influence and heavy oak (Trianon, ArteNOM 1146), less oak but a lot of barrel spices (Suerte). Light barrel influences but retaining strong agave presence (El Tesoro, Pasote, Siete Leguas). Lighter sweeter profile with subtle barrel influence (Gran Maracame). French oak aging with its butterscotch aroma and taste (Casa Noble, El Tequileno). If I am in the right mood any of them are fantastic. Which ones have you guys tried and been disappointed?
      That said, I recently got a great deal on 2 one liter bottles of Tapatio anejo for $40 each which might be the best anejo bargain ever.

      Nice. We’ll put those on our list. We have a soft spot for some sweet ones like 1942 and Azul because it was our first introduction to something other than cheap well mixtos, but it’s encouraging that our tastes are gravitating to the ones with less or no additives

    • @ncyankee101
      @ncyankee101 Před 2 lety +1

      @@tastebudguys I don't think 1942 is all that sweet, seems to have an excess of vanilla though and many people think it is manipulated these days. I have a bottle I bought maybe 7-8 years ago and it is still 75% full because I just don't find it very interesting. If you want a much cheaper alternative that has a similar flavor but is much better IMO, try Don Pilar anejo. Should be around $40.

      @@tastebudguys I too enjoy the Clase Azul, so I may be inclined to take that recommendation and buy a bottle of that.

    Just bought the Añejo this weekend, haven’t tried it yet but you guys are making me wish I would of got the reposado 😩. Also picked a bottle of Cantera Negra extra Añejo I’m excited to try. Btw Cincoro does make an extra Añejo but it’s a $1200-$1500 bottle 😬

    Ok I subbed this channel like 3 days ago. Great tunes. Like the easy going atmosphere. What’s your fave go to sipper be it Tequila, bourbon, rum,scotch etc. Cheers.

    • @tastebudguys
      @tastebudguys  Před 3 lety +1

      Dude. That is such a hard questions. So first, thanks for the sub, welcome brother. Second, chris here, so only going to speak for me. The cincoro repo could be one of the best tequilas I have had it's awesome. But for a way cheaper option I genuinely like COA. For bourbon/whiskey, my go to fave would probably be Bib and Tucker. Scotch, the japanese single bbl Yoichi has honestly renewed my interest in all thing scotch again. But if that is a little outside the linea I will say Bunnanhaben (no clue how to spell it). As for rum and such I barely know anything about it, so I'm gonna pass on that one. I do really like that Daredevil gin for a sipper, but seagram's and Hendricks will do in a pinch. Lyal will have to answer for himself. But ever day may change my mind anyhow. .~CHEERS friend

      Not a bad list at all from Chris... I would throw in Jim beam double oak for the price, Evan Williams single barrel for a mid range. Tequila wise, coa is killer for the price point. They also make bacoo rum which is a nice sipper. Pasote has become my favorite blanco tequila. Gah... I’m salivating just thinking about all the good drinks out there lol -Lyal

      I am mostly a scotch guy. Smoky, peaty doesn’t matter. Bourbon I like wt101 but for the price and a cheap sipper. It would be OGD bib. Tequila I am digging the Cazadores. Cheers.

    • @ncyankee101
      @ncyankee101 Před 2 lety

      @@tastebudguys Pasote is one of the best . Their anejo is very interesting because Felipe Camarena loves to age hsi stuff in very old depleted barrels to retain as much of the agave taste as possible. I have the 8 month repo and the 20 month anejo and when you hold them up side by side there is very little color difference.
      Did you know Evan Williams SB is now allocated? Fortunately I was able to grab a stash of 6 bottles at a good price of $25 while I was on vacation, One store was limiting customers to one but Total Wine wasn't and I cleaned them out. It has gone up to $37 here in NC. I sure hope barrel 608 is a good one LOL. Only aged 7 yrs 3 months. My first bottle (2004 vintage) was about 9 1/2 yrs.

    Cincoro needs to be benched. trash... nothing in that bottle is worth the cost! Same goes for Clase Azul!. Azul bottle looks like a glorified Mrs. Butterworth's bottle, which is very appropriate, considering the sweet syrup in which it contains.
