- There are so many tequila brands out there, and its hard to know which ones are actually worth your time and money. In this Video I will show you the 3 best tequila brands you should be drinking.
Tequila is one of the most popular spirits out there and so many brands are capitalizing on it. Celebrities far and wide have tried to make a quick buck by selling tequila and there are so many bad brands out there.
The Three brands I cover in this video are all family owned and run, free of additives and are all well worth your money. El Tequileno tequila has been a mainstay in Mexico since 1959. El Tesoro tequila has been around for 80 years making incredible tequila. Fortaleza Tequila has been around for over 125 years keeping their traditions alive and well.
These are the three best tequila brands 2022.

Great video. Might want to turn the gain down on the mic. It's really overdriven and harsh/crackly.
Thank you and sorry about that! I got a new transmitter that i used for this video and didn't realize how bad it was. I tried to fix it in post production but I am not the greatest at that. I do apologize about the audio! I just didn't wanna lose out on this video especially since this was the 2nd time i filmed it. (First time had a camera issue)
THANK YOUUUUUUU
Awesome video tho
love your content because it's informative quickly with no fluff. Glad to see I have all of these on the except Tromba. Some honorable mentions that I dont think I've seen you review is Calle 23, Terralta, Ocho, uno/dos/tres, Primo, San Matias (great extra anejo for money), Volans, Tanteo, Volcan, Carerra etc
Just tried all 3 recommendations. My favorite is actually El Tesoro. Thanks for the great suggestions. For everyone struggling to find these. I picked all 3 up at Total Wine.
Fortaleza and El Tesoro are my favorites... I lean towards Reposado but Blanco and Anejo on my list too.
Will be bringing this list to the liquor store!
LUI!!!! Great video!!! Fortaleza is one tequila I need to buy!!! I've you talk about it so much, I'm def sold!!!! CHEERS!!!!
Yes! Definitely do tim! It's such a great one!
Love your take on tequila. I respect your opinions.
Thanks friend! 😁😁🙏
Thank you very much for this video, gonna try to find El Tesoro, even though I live in Europe
You're so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it 😁 hope you can find it!
El Tesoro, Calle 23, G4, Fortaleza. These are the only 4 you’d need.
Very informative, you are an inspiration sir.
Thank you my friend! I'm happy you think so 😁🙌 that means a lot
Love your Choices! I would add Ocho and Tapatio.
Thank you!! Both excellent bottles as well!!
Thanks for making this video!
You're welcome! Happy you enjoyed it
Thanks for your video I purchased fortaleza
Wooo! Hope you enjoyed it 😁
The Casa San Matias tequilas are amazing with my favorite overall shopping tequila, especially for the price being Corazon Anejo. I hope you can review Corazon on your channel one day if you haven't already!
3 of the 4 are already in my amateur collection. The additive free ones are truely joyous to sip on. Tequileño has the bright agave flavor and fortaleza has a very well rounded sipper flavor profile.
Oh good! Love it! Happy you enjoy these options!
It's not right, but you lost me at, "te-kee-luh." Haha
So fortaleza is good to drink straight?!! YES?!!
What other is additive free?
Good list. I agree with others that there are more great Tequilas out there. Volans is another great one. But Fortaleza hands down is the best there is imo. Nice video, keep up the good work. Salud.
Thank you friend! Happy you enjoyed it and share my love for Fortaleza! This list could be gigantic.
El Tesoro and Fortaleza are both wonderful, haven't tried El Tequileno. I would add Cazcanes to the list.
Thanks to you I got hooked on fortaleza anejo and now I cannot find it anywhere! :*(
Thanks for the recommendation though, it is a solid buy but now bottles are going for $100-$300 online since it is sold out everywhere.
Great video! Trying to start a collection for my man cave bar with six bottles total, on the off chance I can find any of these ( I’m on the east coast) which bottles of each brand should you start off with?
El Tequileno is my favourite tequila in my price range. I recommend it to everyone I know who drinks or wants to try tequila. You really can spend a lot more and get a lot less.
Thanks for the Ones you like... Fortaleza is a bit too expensive for me. Absolutely love El Tesoro & Tequelino. Everybody has their favorite. Mine is G4.
Thank you for watching and enjoying! G4 i hear is incredible!
Fortaleza anejo is the only one expensive. Reposado is about $50-55 depending where you live.
Got to try some of those out
Yes! Do it up. Let me know what you think
Here in NYC ppl are crazy with the Don Julio Reposado and the 1942...I will start drinking the Fortaleza. 😁👌
I rather have the good best tasting tequila so you doing a good job making your videos
Could you review El Guitarron Agave wine? Not too familiar with it, but my local bar was pouring it for margaritas and it was really good and would love to hear your opinion on it (:
I have been drinking Pueblo Viajo non additive I highly recommend it highly.
My brother (bartender) bought my dad FORTALEZA, the reposado & Añejo .. and one day I just bought him the blanco and my dad asked.. why ? And I just said, because it’s just tequila, and the purest form of it.. I like that ..
thank you for these great recommendations. Do you like my favorite Altos and centinario ?
I think Altos is pretty decent for the price.
I love El Tesoro!!!!
Thank You
You're welcome! 😁😁
I have those same three in my top list, but also Siete Leguas, G4, Cascahuin and Tequila Ocho.
Oh good! Yes lots of good choices as well!
You have some great taste my friend
I love El Tequileno Gran Reserve Reposado.
What is your opinion of El Tequileno vs El Tesoro Anjeo? I tried neither.
Awesome review, El Tesoro Añejo is a great tequila. Great to sip, all kind of notes I get from this tequila. Still trying to get my hands on Fortaleza.
Thanks friend! Happy you enjoyed it! And yeah Fortaleza has def. Been difficult to find
Outstanding video Lui!! Terrific recommendations. I am looking for some good Tequila so this is so appreciated. Hey can you recommend a popular Mezcal that isn't well above $100.00?!! I'm just getting in to Tequila and Mezcal. So much fun and I love learning!! Love all your knowlege!! Cheers!!
Christine! Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed this one. Del Maguey has some incredible mezcals for a good price and i also really like Los Vecinos del Campo. Their Tobala is $80 (near me) and it's very very good.
@@Lui_Fern Fabulous info Lui! I appreciate this so much!! Great recommendations!!
Amaras - get it and you'll come and thank me. $50. Floral and light, silky smooth, lightly sweet and dances on your toung. Not you typical Mescal with the heavy smoke flavous I also love.
Good selections, my vote in order of preference… Forteleza, G4, El Tesoro, Tequila Ocho, Pasote.
Those are all excellent!
Which one is smoother El Tequileno Gran Reserva Reposado or the El Tesoro Anejo?
If I enjoy making really good margaritas at home - which silver, repasado and anejo bottles are must have??
Thoughts on El Mayor? I've found good things, but no real definitive review of the overall line
What is your opinion of Espolon Anjeo. That’s the only bottle I can find in my local store in Springfield, Ohio
I finally got a bottle of Fortaleza today!
I absolutely love your content and delivery. Comparing your favorite tequila with el Jimador, which do you think is best. I make and sell cheesecake with different alcohols. Right now I use Don Julio. I had a customer bring me a bottle of el Jimador. What’s your opinion on these brands, include your favorite please.
El Jimador isnt bad per se. I don't like Don Julio. I'd consider switching to a better quality but still accessible tequila such as a Arette. It is not expensive (cheaper than Don Julio) and muh tastier
always liked El Jimador
Do you have a review or thought on Urzua Tequila?
Bought myself a bottle of El Tesoro Anejo. I never thought I would say delicious after sipping tequila. But it is.
YESS! So happy you think so! It's such a delicious one
Good reviews, I'm learning a lot. Thanks for all the information. I know these Videos take a lot of work.
I work for Total Wine and More. How do you feel about their Tequila Brand El Padrino?
You're so welcome friend! I'm happy you're getting some good info out of this! And i actually haven't tried El padrino myself.
To that list... Tapatio 80 or 110, Cascahuin, Suerte, Cimarron.
Hey Lui, I’ve never heard you talk about Patron. This leads me to believe that it’s on your trash list too! I finally was able to order some Fortaleza blanco and reposado. I can’t wait to receive it! Love your videos!
Thanks my friend! Happy to hear you're giving them a shot. So patron technically is additive free. It's not terrible. It's definitely serviceable. Just not my favorite.
Patron was my entry into all tequilas that aren’t Cuervo! Just the mention of Cuervo gives me a headache 😂
@@purplebond Cuervo is awful. My stomach churns just think too 😂
@@Lui_Fern patron has always been my favorite. Gonna try the ones in the video IF I can find them where I live.
@@samlovesjojo let me know what you think if you do try them!
I just don’t have ready access to El Tequileño. El Tesoro has been a favorite for decades. Fortaleza is a favorite of mine too, but has been a bit difficult to come by of late. I would just add Cascahuín, neck-and-neck with Fortaleza.
You’re the Reason Why I Drink Top Quality Tequila.
You definitely need to try G4 if you haven't, I'd say g4 and tequila Ocho could easily replace tequileno, and tesoro on this list. Very good tequila. Tapatio extra anejo is on another level also. Lots of good tequila out there.
thanks for sharing! you're right there are some really great tequilas out there
What's the Tapatio Extra Anejo like? It's nearly impossible to find?
El tesoro blanco is up there as my favorite tequilas to drink. G4 has a slight edge over el tesoro blanco though, very good tequilas and very affordable, not like these celebrity made tequilas that are overpriced garbage
I agree that G4 or Tequila Ocho could replace El Tequileno, but El Tesoro? C'mon.
Me and my fiance 28-29 liked ocho repo more. To me it was smoother but my brother in law and father in law (older) preferred tesoro! They said it was better and smoother! So who knows! I love codigo too. So hard to beat these 3. Fortaleza was ok. Had a lot of spice to it. My fiance didn't like it much. Instant burn for her
In any tequila..what certain class is the most recomended? Is it blanco?
What about the OG tequilas
Antiguo herradura , Centenario, Pueblo viejo
What do you think about the Herradura tequila line up?
Thank you brother, awesome video!! I am obsessed with Mezcal and Tequila!! Ive had the pleasure of trying all of them.. I love Cenote Tequila, its delectable, if u havent tried it i highly recommend
You're so welcome friend! Happy you enjoy them both. I love mezcal and tequila and happy you enjoyed this video!
@@Lui_Fern Viejon, can u please make a video about the differences between masculine and feminine tequilas? I know the terroir has lots to do with the difference but i would love to hear an different perspective... Thann you kindly in advance #GodBless 🙏
Thanks for the info do you know if this company fortaleza tequila is making tequila anymore because I cannot find it anywhere.
They certainly are. I have a whole video on why their products are impossible to find for some at the moment.
In Ottawa Ontario Canada my top 3 are
Siempre
Villa One
Tromba
Entry level
Altos
Espolón
But there's 5 there?
Tromba is great. Altos is great. Espolón and villa one, not so much. At least in my opinion.
Crazy how hard Fortaleza is to find at a reasonable price these days.
Tromba is nice
Which tequila brands would you recommend for margaritas? I already have contreau but I'm still deciding on which tequila to purchase. The 1800 blanco is available in a store nearby but I wanna hear peoples thoughts about it first. Thank you!
Honestly for Margs I'd go with something like Arette or Cimarrón. More inexpensive but still excellently made. I'm sure a Marg made with any of the blancos here would be amazing but a little pricey.
Fortaleza is the best in my opinion. They produce their tequila in such a traditional way that it’s my favorite. Don Guillermo is doing it the way it was done over 100 years ago 😊
Oh it's so incredible! It's probably my favorite as well!
100% AGREED!!!
All i drink is tres agaves El tes and i will try these others i cant find Fortaleza anywhere
Just tried Tesoro and omg its so bomb
Right?!
What are your thoughts on los arango
What do you think about (Tears of Gritona)
You are NOT wrong about Forteleza! I had a bottle of Anejo once a few months ago, a flavor to never forget!!! Absolutely INCREDIABLE flavor and smoothness.
Happy you agree! It's legit my favorite bottle of all time
I went to a Mexican restaurant today and ordered this drink and was blown away by it ,want to buy a bottle immediately but at $200 a bottle here in New Zealand might have to pass it up😔
Between Blanco and Anejo, which one should I go first. Newbie here, thanks!
@@johnnyboy1586theres Mexicans in New Zealand??
@@tavitollc no I think it's owned by locals who know how to cook Mexican dishes 🤔but there might be some Mexicans here
What do you think about patron ? As for me not into it .
Tromba sound interesting...I know another good cheaper brand is Lunazul!
Yeah lunazul isnt bad. Give tromba a try if you can!
I really enjoy Lunazul
I'm guessing the recommendation for these tequilas is the Blanco?
I really only enjoy drinking margaritas (with tequila, agave and lime). What do you recommend? Would it be a waste to buy forteleza for my margaritas? Thoughts? Thanks.
He commented that he recommends arette and cimarrón because they’re more inexpensive but still well made. And that any of the blanco’s listed here would be good but yes too expensive.
Don Roberto 🔥
Where can I find El Tequileño? I can’t find it anywhere.
Just stumbled across your channel. Need to fix that audio my guy. It just sounds bad.
What about Volcan? Have you tried this?
I am planning a trip to Tequila to see how all this is made. Any suggestions on where to stay and who to visit? I definitely want to hit Fortaleza, are there any other must do tours? I also hear there are some world class tequila bars there, any suggestions. I want to stay away from tourist traps. I only have a weekend so I can't do too much.
I haven't been myself yet unfortunately. I live on the opposite side of the continent but I'm hoping to change that in 2023. I may be going down hopefully in may
Number Juan and El Tesoro reposados are on par
I have a bottle of Fortaleza, I bought it at the family distillery in Mexico. Here is the states it's called Fortaleza but in Mexico it's called Abuelos. So my bottle says Abuelos
Love it!! It's such a great brand! Hope you enjoyed it!
@@Lui_Fern I love it, my opinion it's prob the best tasting one
@@veteransforequality7347 I'm with you! It's my favorite for sure
I'm sure I'll get a lot of hate on this but I actually like centenario for about 25 bucks. I feel like you can do a lot worse in that price range
I like the centenario from Mexico, but not the stuff made in America. You can smell and taste the difference.
This is perfect timing, will need a new bottle this spring. which one of these 3 would you say is your favourite?
Fortaleza for sure!
@@Lui_Fern awesome! thank you :)
@@jondotdrinks6952 you're so welcome!
San, Matias tequila extra añejo reserva the best, tequila try it
Jose cuervo is the best for me
What are your thoughts on Cascuahuin tequilas?
Cascahuin is incredible. One of my favorites. Unfortunately it's not easy for me to find near me so I don't usually have a bottle to talk about it
@@Lui_Fern It's tough for me, as well!
What is the best anejo should I pick up in Mexico next week to bring home?
What are the proce points on these tequilas?
fortaleza is becoming allocated. Spec's employee told me he gets as many calls asking for fortaleza as he does for blantons and eagle rare which is not a good sign.
What’s the difference between anejo, resposado and blanco. I know blanco means white but what’s it got to do with the other two names I just mentioned? Excuse my ignorance. I’m not a big drinker but had casamigos Thanksgiving weekend shots with lemon. They were hard to swallow
I’m with you, no celebrity spirit
you need to work on your audio quality. it sounds like you are screaming into your mic. otherwise great video.
😅I drink Margaritas. Cimarron never fails me. 🥂🇲🇽
Cimarron is great!
I’ll definitely be trying some of these. Mijenta Reposado is my go to.
Thoughts on Patron?
Going to have to order a tequila flight the next time I come in!
Yes please do! 😁😁🙏
I used to find Fortaleza at quite a few places a couple years ago but now it’s very hard to find it. Especially the Añejo.
Oh it's become almost impossible
Fortaleza has become the Blanton's of Tequila...
Saw all them at total wine right now ended up with G4
Can you recommend some good cristalinos? I'm trying to find something to switch to from Don Julio 70 lol
Why switch? Don Julio created the cristalino category and remains the best on market
Dobel Diamante
I am just starting to get into Tequila and recently discovered your videos. The first ‘real’ Tequila I tried is El Tesoro Añejo. I knew there was something different from my very first sip. Out of curiosity I compared it to a bottle my wife bought for making margaritas. It was 1800 Silver and wow… I was amazed at the difference in the taste. My wife has wanted to try Clase Azul. Is it worth the price? Is it additive free?
El Tesoro is one of my favorite brands. And class Azul imo is not worth the price. It's overly expensive and most likely probably has additives in it.
Not worth the money. Step up to Paradiso for a few more $$
It does have additives but it’s worth it to try atleast once
Tromba añejo is $65-70 in raleigh nc
Do you prefer the Fortaleza Blanco over the Reposado? Do you prefer Blancos in general over Reposado? Thank you.
I generally don't prefer one over the other, to me they're equally as good but different and useful in different circumstances and moods. Everything Fortaleza makes is genuinely incredible.
I generally don't prefer one over the other, to me they're equally as good but different and useful in different circumstances and moods. Everything Fortaleza makes is genuinely incredible.
Some brands i prefer their Blancos to their repos but that's on a brand to brand basis.
@@Lui_Fern Hi Lui, thanks for your reply. I picked up a couple bottles of Fortaleza Blanco today after watching your videos. They didn't have the Reposado or Anejo.
@@Lui_Fern Tried Fortaleza Blanco last night for the first time and I couldn't believe how good it was. One of the best tasting things I have ever drank in my life. The flavor is more than incredible.
@@broskibear9666 that's awesome friend! Happy to hear it 😁
Lui I can’t find fortaleza anywhere and I’m down to 3 bottles,,, I did purchase the el Tesoro’s and the repo made by the woman owned company and 7 sietes but No fortaleza 😞
It's tough! I can't find any here in MA either!
I can not find Fortaleza any where in Indianapolis! 😢😢
You've really made my life better with your videos. Thank you. As a former whiskey drinker, I've found myself immersed in Tequila and have loved your information. To me, Tequila has such a better flavor profile than whiskey -- not knocking whiskey, but to me it's true. My tequila experience was that from college and, whoa, nasty shots. Now nearing 50 I'm incredibly amazed at "real" Tequila. One thing I wanted to truly thank you for is the information about additives. Keep up the fantastic work!
I've found just about every type of Tequila you've mentioned in many of your videos with the exception of Fortaleza, which I'm dying to try. I'm on the hunt!
Wow thank you so much my friend for such a thorough and thoughtful comment. I really appreciate it and I'm happy I've been able to help you! 😁🙏
Tequila brands shift in popularity based on the consensus of the crop's quality so don't stop looking (ask the locals not this guy)
Getting good Tequila in Germany is pretty hard, if at all mostly through the internet and shipping it.
In stores with a "better" selection one of the good ones you can get is the Corralejo Reposado.
I like it alot, but since i dont have access to all these different brands here, i ask myself how good he is really.
Is the Corralejo Reposado actually decent or will a investment into some imported Tequila actually change my world on how Tequila has to taste?
I haven't had Corralejo myself so idk if can speak to it's quality. But I do know that Fortaleza changed my world and view on Tequila after i tried it. If you could get your hands on it (and doesn't cost an arm and a leg) I'd highly recommend it
Corralejo isn't necessarily good tequila, at least in my opinion, they do have additives and it's honestly not that great. Definitely importing some of these tequilas will change your world. I've tried all 3 on his list, as well as G4 from the Camarena family and its great tequila. I honestly would even put g4 behind Fortaleza in this list as number 2
