Great video guys. I was never a tequila guy until I went to Cabo a few months ago. The poolside bar had EVERY hyped tequila, but the Ocho Anejo was only $12 for a 2oz pour so I decided to try it.
That bottle single handedly changed my perspective of tequila, and now I have two “2019 La Laja” at home as well a Widow Jane Reposado. The brand is amazing and I will continue to support them and recommend to friends.

El luchador tequila looks interesting! I’ve tried the 123 Organic line and it’s good, although they all sort of taste the same IMO. Just gets a bit muted as you climb up the line. Would be great to see your review of it sometime. Keep up the good work, gents.

Love these and bought Ocho Blanco and El Tesoro that opened my eyes to great Tequila favorite for both my wife and I is Ocho and ended up buying the Ocho Repo and Anejo the next week. The Blanco and Repo also make the best Margaritas I have ever had.
Well... I may need to make some purchases now that we're getting some warmer weather.
Hey Guys, big fan of the channel, been watching you guys for years and always love the effort, laughter, and fun you guys put into your videos. Having said that I would like to recommend Don Fulano Anjeo to put up against any and all of your top anjeos. I am a bar manager who has tried hundreds of spirits, who holds no biases. Nothing compares to Don Fulano Anejo for the price and quality. I have tried and carry all the tequilas in this video and believe Don Fulano will come out on top. Might also want to try codigo anjeo barrel strength 88 proof. It's a special edition not available widely. But is a higher proof anjeo that has spectacular nose, and extreme complexity on the palette. I tried 9 codigos side by side the barrel proof is head and shoulders there best tequila. Thanks for replying!
Fortaleza and Ocho are my top 2 in blind tasting 4 different brands. Interesting!
Currently sipping El Tesoro Anejo. I’m a bourbon drinker. Enjoying the El T. Haven’t had any of the others. So if it keeps getting better…can’t wait!!

Personally, I still enjoy Fortaleza but it doesn't hurt to try out other brands like Arette and El Tesoro more (Ocho I feel like has to much batch variation). Excited for the Extra Anejo challenge! Any idea when that's going to come out?
Not sure when we will get it recorded and released yet, but hopefully in the next couple of months.
@@CuriosityPublic so Dutch I wrapped up a tasting of mine with a buddy. With the different ranges I would say Fortaleza was still #1 but G4 & El Tesoro were tied for #2.. Siete Leguas and Ocho were good but not my favorites. I think it’s probably a palette thing: I personally prefer “sweeter” and “viscous” with moderate/low minerality/bitterness tequilas
Yeah but Ocho literally tells you the name of the batch/estate on each bottle. so you can look for your favorite, which is fair

I've been on a whiskey journey for a couple of years, but other than in a margarita, I've never explored tequila and mezcal. Where do I start? Have you done a video I can check out that's aimed at beginners?

Thanks! We make sure all the bottles we review or put into a bind have been open for at least a couple of weeks minimum.
We also need the best still strength / high proof blanco challenge!!!
Arette is the best bargain for me at the moment but I prefer the blanco. For me the barrel flavor just distracts from the delicious agave flavor. My tastes keep changing so who knows what it will be by end of summer. But Arrette is such a deal.

I’m trying to decide on pulling the trigger on the Ocho 2017, does anyone know if it’s worth waiting for the 2021?

1st RED = OCHO = AROMA Winner for all three; and FLAVOR for Dutch & Dillon
2nd Orange = Arette Jules' favorite FLAVOR
3rd Green = Forteleza
4th BLUE = G4
5th Black/Blank = El Tesoro

Pretty sure that every round Dillon guessed his first place as fortaleza… every time. This comes back to brand / bottle bias. I am looking forward to him guessing Fortaleza as his favorite Extra Anejo despite them not making one.

Proves the possible benefits of the roulette style ala "whiskey & stuff" approach, it's like comparing blind mouthfuls of food once you've already heard the michelan resturants name, the anticipation builds up, as passionate nerds we can't help but root for the one or another, it starts to no longer look like a blind comparison

Question, what’s the deal with the top band on the g4 bottles? All mine (11 total bottles) all have the larger band closer to the cork with the tahona logo, not the small tag lower on the neck?? What’s the difference??
I think this is just an older bottle design. Not sure when they changed it up.

Hi, I decided to buy some tequilas after seeing your guys channel. I have never tried alcohol before, so this could have to do with it. When I saw tequila videos I was so excited, I thought I would taste all of these wonderful flavors of agave, cinnamon, citrus, pepper, etc. I bought riedel glasses and tasted ocho blanco, código blanco, don Julio añejo, and absolut vodka as a baseline. Turns out they tasted all nearly identical to each other including the vodka, they just tasted like a strong note of alcohol. I didn’t get any other flavor of agave or pepper or anything. Is there something wrong with me?
As a side note, the aromas were a different story. They all smelled very distinct
you may need to ease into it. It may take some time for your palate to develop and get past the ethanol.

Ocho La Ladera, very nice. I wonder if the pale colour throws people off, thinking an añejo should be darker. I think Ocho will always be interesting as each estate will have some of their own characteristics.

Cantera Negra is one of my favorites for Blanco, Repasado, Anejo, and Extra Anejo. Maybe throw that in. Unless it’s full of artificial stuff, in which case educate me please.

Absolutely baffling to me that Arrette won the reposado round. I ran out and bought a bottle after I watched your video. It tasted like straight ethanol that had driven by a tequila distillery recently. Did I get a bad bottle??

I'd like to see you throw in a mainstream premium tequila in there just to see how it stacks up. Like a Patron, or Don Julio (from what I understand Patron is actually additive free, where DJ - who knows). Don't include 818 because if it wins, I...I just can't.

@Curiosity Public, I know you get suggestions all the time, but you definitely need to grab El Tequileño Sassenach Select. I say this with urgency because it is a limited release. By far my new favorite! Salud!
Just an opinion, Forta Still Strength is some of the best juice ever. That said, native G4 Extra Anejo may be the best XA ever!

What do you guys think of: tres generaciones tequila anejo? I'm not a huge Tequila guy straight, but this is great mixing. I also know zero about tequila, more of a bourbon guy.
It's not great - same distillery that makes the bargain brands Sauza and Hornitos.

Fortaleza prob too authentic for you guys. They make it still the authentic way, with the tohona, in small bactches. Its a small distillary
