  • Mezcal vs Tequila. What exactly makes these two Incredible Agave Spirits so special and are they the same thing? Both Tequila and Mezcal come from Mexico and while they do come from the same plants, they are quite different both in flavor and the way they are made. In this video, I go over all of the differences between Tequila and Mezcal, what makes Mezcal Tequila similar, as well as how they taste and how Mezcal is made.
Tequila and Mezcal are made very similarly, but there a few key differences which make each spirit very unique and make them stand out from one another. Mezcal Cocktails are some of my absolute favorite cocktails, so I really wanted to make this video examining and sharing with you talking about Mezcal and Tequila.
We cover tequila vs mezcal taste, origin, process, and how they are made, and more. I really tried to give a comprehensive view of what makes these two spirits so special and why so many people love them.
Make sure to subscribe to my channel because I post multiple videos every single week, covering Cocktail Recipes, My Favorite Spirits, How to Bartend, and What it's like to own my own restaurant & Bar.

I tried a mezcal a few weeks ago at an upscale Taco restaurant and I was completely blown away! I had no idea what it was and it hit me like a brick wall with the Smokey flavor. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend to those who enjoy uniquely flavored spirits!

Tequila is made mainly in Jalisco, however, there are 4 other states (small municipality) that are allowed to make Tequila Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit and Tamaulipas.

Dear Lui, since I'm producing homemade raisin spirit for self consume and to sell as well, I'm very interested to produce mezcal and more, growing my own agave in field and producing mezcal.
I'm from Iran in middle east, where the whether is likely Mexico. I want to know is it possible to make native Mexican Agave for Iran?

At last count there were over 240 species, varieties of Agave and counting. I think everyone should give Mezcal a try before they croak, as it is such a departure from Tequila. Did you know that the most popular spirit drink in Mexico is not Tequila or Mezcal, but Rum, usually homemade Rum.

I'm wondering if I'm making a mistake but I thought there were over 250 varieties of agave but not sure if they are variations of the 30 varieties? Good description just wanted to clarify that because I swear I read that somewhere. I was trying to find some agave varieties that grow in my climate. I'd have to make mezcal in my climate because blue weber doesn't grow here. I found a 7 year maturing variety that grows here so that's kinda cool. So once I am more established and build a new house by that time I'll have some agave to pit roast in the ground. Thinking maybe plant enough plants for 5 or 10 gallon batch and then just make it tradition to plant the same amount of plants each year so I always have a mature row of agave. oh yeah I"m a DIY MANIAC Lui! lol

When I was a kid, there was a mezcal seller who came around from house to house with a big container of mezcal strapped to a donkey. You’d go out there with your own cup and buy some. The milk man sold milk the same way. Tried the mezcal once and hated it. Love tequila though. Also, back then the mezcal was not clear, it was kinda cloudy, or milky, if you will.

@@Lui_Fern no not a trick question, reason for asking is, I have a few Agave Amercana plants growing near my house, and the methode I saw of them harvesting the juice from the plant instead of chopping down and only using the Pina, made me think it is something different, cant find a clear answer on line tons of mixed info, then came across your channel and found your info very interesting.
So to get the the point, I will like to only harvest the juice ferment it and then distill it so dont want to call it something it is not.
