Being able to explain yourself in 6 minutes 44 sec and having this kind of result is just brilliant, it is so doable and you didn't make us sit though 30 minutes, thank you! LOVE it, it's beautiful, especially with your pup enjoying it too.
Thank you so much, Jayne! I appreciate it!
Please give us yearly updates as to how the floor holds out. I’ve always been curious about painting tiles but worried about how the paint would last. I have two dogs that live inside & out so wonder about that as well. Your floor looks amazing! Really looks more contemporary. Great job.👏👏👏👏🥰🥰
Love the new painted tiles.. Do hope you come back in 6 months with a follow-up video on how the floor is handling the use.
Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind for sure.
@@MakerGray I love it!! How is it holding up?
@@handee_maam Thank you!! I'm so amazed with how well it has held up. 6 months in and its remarkably durable! I recommend 2 coats of each part for extra protection :)
How often do you have to reapply? And can you have to remove these layers to reapply? I'd imagine this is something you have to do every 2 years no? It might end up being more work then you bargained for?.
I suspect you’ll need about two weeks to find that it’s doing poorly.
Time for the Like Button because you made it short and simple.Your commentary while showing the process was appreciated.Thank you Maker Gray.
I appreciate that! Thank you so much :)
I'm super impressed with this video. Concise without all the "chatter/rambling" that is in most d.y.i. videos made and super quick. Keep up the good work. The floor, baseboards and that little nail gun all looked awesome.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
I have been watching your channel for quite a few months now, and I am extremely excited to see how far you have come. I wish you nothing but the best!
John, that is so kind! Thank you! I really appreciate you being here and following along 😄 Much to come!
This video 10000% solidified that I’m painting my floors! We have similar tile in our entire downstairs area… too expensive to be replaced and I’m loving the look of black floors!!!! 😍
Yay!! We are sooooo happy with ours! 😄
As a professional cleaner sorry to tell you black shows EVERYTHING! You may think it hides things but every speck of dust will show and every hair or piece of lint. It will even show if you don't rinse all cleaning product off completely. There really a reason you do not see black floors very often or black carpet. Unless you have a maid coming in daily to dust and wash those floors daily you will regret those floors. 😂😂😂😂
@@loriolson3191 Good feedback!
I am a flooring designer. I love what you did here! What a difference!
Oh that is so nice to hear! Thank you very much!
I am so glad to find you! I live in Austria and nobody could tell me, how to paint the floortiles. My husband was afraid, that I would hurt my hands with this hard work. Now, after seeing your video, he is relaxed and I can start....! Thank you so much! 🤗
So glad I could help! Thank you for watching!
What a difference! That color is beautiful!
I’m still amazed at how much better it looks 😮 Thanks Kelli!!
Awesome job Erin, the floor and baseboards look amazing! 😍👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks so much Fred!
Well you truly learn something everyday, as a tile guy I never thought it would be possible to paint over tile, I'm wondering how long it will last for if the paint will scratch off the tile
Dude I recently bought a house where the previous owners had painted over nice Italian tile with the rustoleum two step process product and the floor looked awful, scratches everywhere.. even we would scratch it up sometimes moving furniture around and what not. Also, the painted floor attracts dirt and hair like a magnet it's been a work in progress slowly removing the paint and sealant one room at a time but we're finally getting there. Definitely stay away
Fantastic transformation Erin, really gives it the lift it needed. Look quality paint, you will have to update us how it performs. 🥰👍🤗
Thank you so much Iain!
Absolutely beautiful, you made it look so easy. Love the look
Thanks so much!
This is perfect solution to give my kitchen an upgrade. Thank you!
So glad it was helpful! We are loving our floors.
WOW!!! We have the exact same issue in our kitchen. In fact, our tiles are even lighter than yours with white grout (that stays clean for just a few days after I’ve finished cleaning them diligently). We’ve resigned ourselves to just living with the awful floor since getting a new one would be messy and really disruptive. But THIS, what you’ve done is amazing and what we should do as well. Thank you! It is pure serendipity that I even came across your video.
Wonderful! So glad it is helpful for you!! We can actually live with this floor now haha. We love the update! I recommend two coats of each part for a super durable finish. Thats what I did and it hasn't had any problems at all!
I did this on a vinyl floor but I went ahead and roughed up a bit with a pole sander and primed . 2 coats of paint and topcoat since it was in my kitchen high traffic area. It held up really well. It lasted several years until I put hardwood throughout my home
Thanks for sharing this!
OMG! WOW! Your floor looks absolutely stunning!
I am so glad I stumbled upon this video. I have been wanting to do exactly the same and the same colour to my floors since before I moved into my new home but I’ve been too intimidated by peoples comments about my choice of colour, which has left me indecisive and second guessing my choice of colour. However, after seeing your finish product I have been left speechless by just how beautiful it looks! I knew deep down inside of me that painting my floor black would look striking against my brilliant whites walls and bold feature wall colours (poppy red, colbolt blue and merlot burgundy), together with my oak furniture! I can’t thank you enough for doing this video, it really does means a lot to me! I have also subscribed to your channel as you obviously have great taste and I can’t wait to see more of your makeovers! 🥰🥰
I say pay no attention to what other people say and go with the color that makes you happy! We think our floors are wonderful this color :) Thank you so much and welcome!
I absolutely love your channel! I’m getting ready to buy a fixer-upper myself so the projects you have done Give me the confidence that I can do these things myself also. You and your wife are very inspiring! Watching y’all from Bradenton Florida.
This is great to hear! Thank you so much. I really appreciate it :) Much more to come!
Wow! This turned out really great and I love the color. Thank you for sharing your tips as well. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much! 🤗
@@MakerGray You’re welcome!
Fantastic, I had no idea you could do this and was about to spend thousands on new tile. THANK YOU!
Very welcome!
Wow, amazing. What a transformation. I’ve been wanting to do the same for years but was worried it wouldn’t last or look good. You’ve convinced me, I now have my job for the weekend. Thankyou for the video. 👍🏻
Glad it was helpful and thanks!
Great video! We are definitely going to try this on our own brown, dated tile ✌🏼
Thanks Erin! You guys let me know if you have any questions! I’d probably do two layers of the top coat, just as extra protection.
Huge transformation. Well done
Thank you! We absolutely love the transformation. Appreciate your watching
Wow congratulations! It’s look amazing
I love that you went with the moderate expense of replacing the old very dated baseboards.
It’s a step I’ve done on all 3 homes I’ve renovated.
I hate the telltale dating that old baseboards give a house. From dated finishes to over accumulated paint buildups. And by using a wider replacement board you bury that ugly ‘ridge’ that’s left on the wall.
I totally agree. It's a relatively small change with big benefits. Thanks!
Wow.... looks great !.. who knew you could paint old tiles!!
Right?! Thanks!
FTHOOH!!!! how friggin awesome is that!? Thank you so much!
Love this transformation!!
Thank you!
Excellent, beautiful & cost effective👍
Thank you!
It looks FANTASTIC !!!!!!
GREAT JOB ! And ty
Thanks so much!
The black color looks amazing
Thanks! We think so too!
I love that you can paint them.not the color I would have chose but it is still beautiful !
Thanks! I love that this product can be any color that works for you.
I used concrete paint to cover slate tiles (sacrilege, I know, but they were SO dark!). They were in the only bathroom in a country house, so they had plenty of rough traffic. We sold the house three years later, and there wasn’t a chip or scratch anywhere.
I love hearing this! Thanks!
Wow just what I was looking for! Thank hou
I am getting inspired. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for this I want to paint my living room floor and we have outdated tiles horrible chocolate brown with a few cracks but this looks amazing!! 👌🏻
Yay! Thank you! I hope you do it. We are so glad we did ours!
Niiiiiiice!!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾I want to paint my bathroom floor but didn't know what type of paint to use! 🤷
Thank youuuuu! 😁
You're welcome! Glad this helps!
This was an amazing transformation! Loved it...newly subscribed!
Thank you!
great video! my question is was there any chipping off for the paint when you vacuum and mop the tiles?
This is great I've been wanting to do this. I'm inspired now
I'm so glad! We're almost 9 months in and still so happy with the result!
Very nice thank you
I just purchased an old hole and was borderline panicking about cost to repair all that need to be done. This was a life saver. Thank you.
So glad it helped! This easy update has been wonderful for our older home. Thanks for watching!
This is awesome!! I plan on painting the tiles in our bathroom and this helps so much.
So glad it was helpful! Thanks!

Can you get the paint to purchase on Amazon since I'm not in the country and is the clear coat has to be use or it's optional
I used glass primer and paint to cover salmon pink tiles in a bathroom. Put on several coats of varathane. That did very well, but a floor is a different situation.
Now I also did something simular with the tiles around our wood stove. Four years now, with some foot traffic. Holding up well.
Wow, just stumbled on this. My dad has 33 yr old tile and it’s ‘ok’ but I think a coat of new color work be awesome!! We have about 10 chips in the tiles and wondering what to use to fill them? Thanks
@@Kay-pq1uo ... I would use 2-part Bondo, available via Home Depot, Lowe's, most auto parts places in my area, etc. It has a bit of a strong smell, I wear a respirator when I use it to repair furniture I flip but I have sensitivity to such things. I wear a paper mask when I sand it. Bondo is utilized in auto body repairs, it's the most durable product I have found. (If I need to replace missing trim or molding I usually make a mold from hot glue, fill it with Bondo and glue my duplicated piece in-place.)
Can this paint be used in the bathroom on floor and in shower?
Thank you for this.
My pleasure! Thank you for watching!
your floor look's beautiful thank you for telling me what to do now with your help
You are so welcome!
My concern:
1. What happens to grout lines?
2. How long/durable is this? I can’t imagine sliding a wood chair over it or coming into the entrance with small gravel in the runners.
What happened to the grout was also my first thought too. 😬
According to the manufacturer the directions it says: "Make sure to paint grout as well"
Can you use Krud kutter on wood floors too?
Looks great!
Thanks!
WOW what a difference! I watched your video with a lot of interest because I have an old and outdated tile floor in my kitchen, entrance and two bathrooms...Having just painted my kitchen countertops and cabinets (using Beyond Paint which I highly recommend) and my two bathroom counter tops...the tiles can use a refresh! Thanks for posting this ...Now it's off to research the color selection of this product you used.
So glad it was helpful!! Thanks for watching and enjoy your updates!
nice. impressive
It looks great!
Thank you! We are so happy with it!
Thanks for this! Will be using for tile in front of a fireplace
Great! Thanks!
Nice one! I like it
Amazing! Will have to talk my husband into trying this. Also, I would work for your supervisor anytime, sweet doggie!
☺️ Thank you Janet! My supervisor says thank you too!
That looks so much better!
Thank you! We agree :)
@Maker Gray I would never have considered this before your vid popped up on my feed. Thanks for sharing the brand of paint too!
YEAH LOOKS GOOD
Thanks 🙏🏿 Looks Great
Thank you for watching! 😊
I love this! Do I need regrout before I paint?
It looks amazing. I have that same tile in my kitchen, and it is so hard to clean, and when you clean it, it looks dirty again the next day. I may try this
Oh that looks great 👍. Yep, would I would definitely expect some dirt behind baseboards. Oh! the things that have spilled on my floor close to the baseboards. I made coffee in the Kuerig which was close to the edge of the counter & forgot to put the cup back.🙄 Coffee all the way down on to the floor and baseboards!!!
I personally like a little lighter color as to not to show dog hair. My dog has blonde fur and sheds a lot in spring and fall shedding. Thanks 😊
Love this! Thank you!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching!
Great job.
Thank you!
Thxs I’m getting that Krud cleaner for my kitchen tile, and then painting my dark tile in the bathroom…yay!!
Great!
You painted your walls too! Nice.
Thanks!
To ‘bring things together’- paint the fireplace mantel. Don’t paint the fireplace stones, just the shelf. Using your tile paint and sealer, a black mantel would make the floor and fireplace seem ‘on purpose’. So the floor doesn’t appear like an ‘afterthought’.
I agree about the mantel but I would rough brush a lighter coat of white (ish) paint on the top have off the fireplace. The stones don’t match in style or color but I like the bottoms stones more than the upper stones
Love ur " four- footed" supervisor!😄
Meeeee too! Thank you :)
You did a amazing job
Thank you so much!
@@MakerGray welcome
Wow! Thank you for sharing|
Thanks for watching!
Great job 👍
Thank you!
Hmmm, interesting for sure!
Wow good job 👍 🙏🤣🌷
How has the floor done with doggie paws and nails? I LOVE the "after!" Great job and totally worth your labor.
We have been amazed at how well the floor has stood up to dog nails and feet. Not a scratch so far. Thank you so much!
Amazing!!
Thanks!!
Great job 😍👍 how’s it holding up so far?
Nice
I saw your video on tiktok and decided to see the entire process. I absolutely love this and will definitely give it a try. However how long do you think the paint will last on the floors?
Thank you for watching! I think if done right, it should last awhile. I recommend following the instructions fully (as far as dry time, etc.). I also recommend doing two coats of the paint. When applying it, roll two different directions to make sure it fills all the cracks & seams. Then, apply at least two coats of the top coat for extra protection. With that, it should last awhile. We’ve only had ours a month and so far I’m impressed with the durability 😄
This was like an answer to my prayer! lol
For a couple of months now I have been wanting to do something with the ugly pink floor tiles that the previous owners of my house put as kitchen countertops & backsplash.. I can't afford a remodel or reno. This seems like the perfect solution. Thank you for sharing!
Ugly pink floor tiles be gone! So glad you found this helpful :) We are so much happier with our floor now!
Every time I step into our master bath I gag at the outdated flooring in there... big white tiles with small forest green tiles here and there. We're in our 70's so MAYBE we could tackle this. Love your video and thank you.
You can totally do it! I recommend doing a couple coats of each part. I'm very impressed with the durability so far. Thanks for the comment and for watching :)
I love it
Thank you!
wow - I don't know if we have this sort of paint in Australia -I will have to research it
Nice I like it
Thank you!
I would do that! Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
good info cool vid
Thanks!
Any ideas for handling some of my cracked ceramic tiles with this product or a companion product?
