I just want to say that when the very first smart phones launched, and had a physical keyboard, Microsoft nailed that. The Motorola Q was so much easier to use than the Blackberrys. It had a jog wheel on the side to scroll webpages and a miny mouse in the middle. The file structure was like Windows instead of Blackberry's menu upon menu interface. And before MP3s were big, Window media files were the most common files used and ran natively. Totally dropped the ball in the age of touch screens though
We definitely need more of this series, your missing some big stories like antennagate (which was actually caused by apples own paranoia since they wouldn't allow testers to touch the phone and shipped it in a case that they had to set up in their car and drive around town only able to use the screen and not pickup the phone) or webOS and the fall of palm that had a 25% market share in 2006 to 0 today (but lg uses webOS on their TVs now) even though they had actual full app multitasking before Android and wireless charging way back in 2010

The biggest phone fail I've had was the Galaxy S3. Great phone but the issue is if the screen goes off it underclocks the cpu to save energy and save battery...... Which is fine except it underclocked to the point it didn't have the power to play music on samsung's own music player so the music would buffer constantly.
On LG weird designs, I had that LG G5 that you could take the chin off and replace with a camera module so it had a shutter button and a scroll wheel zoom. Brilliant phone. I liked how you could get the battery out it and how they sold a powerbank shell for them.
And also the alarm clock sometimes didnt go off.
I got royalty pissed at the phone, enough for me to smash it because it made me miss an important exam.
Since then I'm super paranoid, setting up the alarms using different apps from atleast 2 different devices when I have something important coming up.
Apparently, the internal clock on the S3 would heavily lag sometimes when the screen was off for some time, like during the night!
@@Napoleon_Blownapart Aye it was terrible at times - and they made it like that! It wasn't like that when I first got it, they made a software update to make all that happen and then there was no rollback or fix for it for nine months.
After that phone I jumped into the Sony Experia because I had one dead S3 that they claimed was water damage but was actually shorted out because my puppy chewed the cable so it made sense I wanted a waterproof phone that was leaning into playing music.
And it would occasionally disable the wifi which was fine until music streaming came out so the aggressive power saving measures would force you to turn it on to rebuffer a song or two and it would sometimes just cut out during web browsing, very frustrating

I lament the failure of the Wing. If it'd just gotten better internals and cameras, as well as a better main screen, I'd love to have one. They nailed the feeling of switching between modes, and the form factor is legitimately useful.

@@incog0956 its a quality of life improvements. On my old phone, having a quarter screen for video and most of it for comments was annoying. First world problems....
To be honest apart of the weak soc the phone is really nice. You can watch video and still do some clicks in your mobile game or reply without any interrupts or moving the windowed video around. Having Excel and outlook on or teams, check some funny videos @reddit or 9gag and check what's the music on the background of the video. See the walkthrough video of the game you're stuck in and meantime checking class build. You can even split the main screen and have 3. Really great for multitaskers. I wouldn't see the phone as fail, stylus working great on main screen. The only problem is when you open lots of apps and then switching between most of them it's slow. Just to be safe I'm usually have Excel, teams, outlook and pdf on and rest just kill if i need to react to something fast
The point to having the Marshall was to be a music focused device, it’s made for people who are into sound and precision along with being able to handle high end headphones. There are lots of phones like this where they are pointed for the music scene.

I remember when my dad bought me my first phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, a 3.0" display 168Mb of ram beast with the full grunt of a single core CPU working at a whopping 600Mhz at your fingerprints while running the latest (at the time) android 2.1.
this was not a slow phone by no means, it was quite fast actually, i remember playing many games on it, the battery wasnt great but it was removeable, but most importantly it was my intro into fiddling with the system, rooting, installing ROMs, and overclocking the 600Mhz CPU to a staggering 1000Mhz.
Loved that phone a lot and have very fond memories using it.

I would probably add 2 points to each score. Arun is too kind for many of these fails. He's definitely the boss.
Some of those are not fails (i.e. a result misjudgement or stupidity) they‘re fraud (i.e. a result of criminal energy). A whacky phone design is a fail. Cheating to fool benchmark software or demostrating how good a phone‘s camera is using pictures that were not made with that camera is fraud.

Hey you forgot that the Xperia line startet with Sony Ericsson. My first was the Xperia x10, which was actually a great first phone for their company. Then the Xperia Arc came, and is stil one of the prettiest phones I've owned so far.

No. I have seen plenty of CZcamsrs leave the bloopers in. I already forgot the name of the channel but for example one craft lady had videos where 1/3 of the video was just filler blooper material with "funny" sound effects and it got very annoying very fast. She would have needed a better editor for her videos but then her videos would have been 1/3 shorter.

I think you should check out the RFinder B 1 and the Rfinder B 1+. They're both ham radio DMR and analog amateur radios as well as an android cell phones. You need an amateur radio license to talk on the radio side. I've talked to Australia, Japan, Korea, Moldova, Northern Ireland, and Oman just to name a few countries. I've had a blast talking all over the world with my Rfinder.
Personally, I love the concept of the LG Wing. I could be watching a CZcams video with a full screen, while reading comments, or be playing a landscape game and be able to control music settings etc while playing, without interrupting.

with that free phone idea the other major problem is unless you live in a city that phone might work out but to make sure you had an emergency signal you would still potentially need a 2nd phone on you most of the time anyway especially if you travel to BFN or live in a spread out area
