That is exactly what I was thinking
He's like an animaniac
That was my first thought! This man is IRL anime character! 😂
Reminds me of Rengoku! From Kimetsu No Yaiba (Demon Slayer)
Motokichi sensei is so cute, lively, funny and adorable. He was always smiling while teaching Uncle Roger. No wonder Uncle Roger seemed so happy at the end. Appreciation from Brazil!!!
Yea, I like the energy on the guy
Seemed very forced and more of a character than himself. I might be completely wrong tho, I don't know the guy so I'm not saying that as a fact, just the impression he gave in my opinion.

@@Kampos94 I think that’s his genuine personality! Japanese people are pretty awesome.
His reaction to negative reviews was BASED AF. Some people just suck.
I read one negative review where a Western tourist lady who was 15-20 minutes late for a reservation; she was mad that her reservation wasn't honored. One busy nights, that place is booked solid with a line out the door. They can't let a table sit vacant for 15-20+ minutes hoping that the people with the reservation will eventually show up. And, from a cultural perspective, being on time to things is expected in Japan. It's seen as being kind of insulting to other people if you're late to an appointment. Like, don't cut things close. Plan to be there 15 min early rather than right "on time."
Punctuality is the art of showing respect, to yourself and to others.

"Slightly late"
It's always 30+ minutes.
@@saldiven2009 Time is the most valuable thing we have, dont waste the time of other people, be early.
I don’t need to speak Japanese to know this man loves what he does. It’s in his energy while doing it.
The only disappointing thing about this channel is that I didn't find it sooner. I've watched primarily CZcams for the past 10 years but I've never once ran across this channel. I'm excited though because I get to binge watch everything! This is probably my best discovery in the last 5 years. This is rare to find an absolute banger of a gem. It's crazy because I watch Guga and Joshua as well as other popular cooking channels but this has never been recommended to me by CZcams. Im hyped!

motokichi was so pure ðŸ˜. he stayed with you up until nighttime to make sure uncle roger understood the concept to making the perfect omurice and kept motivating him â¤

By far Uncle Rodger, your best video with one of the true best Chef's I have ever seen above Jamie Oliver and Gordan Ramzi and others with no comparison. This man is AMAZING and his skill is unmatched. I might even try to travel to have Great Uncle Motokichii make me a dish and would pay dearly for this. He comes across as a weird Uncle but you cannot at any moment not understand his greatness yet he is humble, funny and accepting but true to his calling. You can simply tell his dishes are heavenly and above other standards we have but watching him was breath taking. I applaud you for trying even a miniscule of his talent. By far the greatest guest I have seen on your show and I love your show but really. His skill, his personality, etc. He is even forever held young by this. He needs a show of his own! He is not an uncle, he is a great-uncle. I am so "youthed" by his attitude and exuberance. Bow down to him. Thank you.
This guy is like a really life anime character
He is in the best way. I was stationed on Okinawa with the USMC and went to Kyoto for a weekend. He's even more energetic in person.
Gotta give credit to Nigel for putting in the work to make the "Uncle Roger" character more of a character. It's like each sub milestone triggers a development mini-arc. What started as a mock of a stereotype has certainly evolved quite a bit...
Also, Motokichi sensei might come across as a wee bit off kilter, but he's a literal master of his craft and makes cooing and plating omurice look way, _way_ easier than it actually is.
He's not off kilter. He's an artist
Bro.. I started crying by the end of the video.. Their energy is so pure.. Congratulations Uncle Roger on 9 million.

If there's one thing you should know about Japan, it's that Japanese people are dead serious about being punctual. So, when you've an appointments in Japan always make it on time or even early but never be late or else forget it.
Especially for restaurants, it causes a lot of trouble with bookings when people are late.
as a swiss i approve this
completely opposite of Indians never arrive on time.😂😂😂
@@LucMarcelle yeah restaurants are usually super small so you have to rotate fast, there were alot that had a limited time to eat when i visited a few years ago and it's considered very rude if you're extending your welcome.
Yeah. Especially restaurants like kichi kichi where they are fully booked and work on a specific schedule. Went there last month. Every batch of customers enter the restaurant at the same time (4/5 batches per dinner). Every batch receives the same experience and performance. Being late means missing the performance and affect next batch’s times. That’s why they are so serious about the reservations and even tell customers to be there 20 minutes early.
Unfortunately some people think that just because they got reservations they are entitled to arrive late and do whatever they want. Glad restaurants don’t allow that type of behavior.
What an incredible man and a phenomenal teacher! So patient and positive, as well as knowing when to demonstrate technique or just have the student try again. Greatly enjoyed the video!
