I love how that guy called fried rice “a bit simple” then proceeded to absolutely desecrate it
The term "simple" had been a misconception that's been based on a dictionary. The depth of that term is that: A food or any creation NEEDS to be simple by itself, not how we judge it by looking at it proudly and then making it too complicated and devaluating based on the book.

I actually like the deliberate contrast between the two characters. The arrogant one dressed up like a 'proper' chef but getting everything wrong, and the humble one in street clothes that actually does it all properly. Even the very first detail of the former one getting a frying pan and the latter actually looking for a wok.
Cliche.
Not sure if you watched the show. The guy actually needed a wok cook for his later event because of the high flames. But she choose her because culinary students will definitely rebel against him which he didn’t want. The chef is the only star and doesn’t give credit to any of his staff so all he wanted is someone to listen or work hard, which the girl did.

I think this movie was made specifically for Uncle Roger to review. And it was made to put everything thing that uncle roger hate. Fresh rice, small fire, no wok, frozen vege🤣🤣
but no chilli jam or (Jamie) olive oil, so not all he hates only the most of them
That would be like Simon on Cuthroat Kitchen saying "Make me a good curry". And everyone had a small heart attack.
Yes, it was an actual episode - one of the best. :) But it also points out the skill of a chef to make the most basic signature dish of each culture. Correctly.
1:18 In Thailand He is owner Chef at Yak Yang (Want to grill ) He's really good at cooking French food. And he has his own restaurant. He is also a competitor Top Chef Thailand. But I can understand this is a movie .
I’m so glad that Uncle Roger loves this movie. Some people were being dramatic about this movie for being “unrealistic”, but at least the person who loves egg fried rice like uncle Roger enjoys it.
yeah, it is popular in other countries but i still hated it. it's super weird, it wanted to be political but in the worst way possible. some scenes didn't make any sense, i love thriller but there wasn't any thrill. i wanted to come out of the film thinking about it messages but i was too confused. the love scene was awkward and uncomfortable as well, no build up. it's not just thais who criticize this film, on reddit you will find quite a few who genuinely got confused after watching this film. it's bad, taught nothing but stereotypical gordon ramsey's abusive parody act on tv shows. the criticism were valid though if you only praise then how will thai's film industry move forward with its quality? you can see some great film like the menu or parasite, you just get the message and the tone of the film right away without it being pretentious.
Though I enjoy the movie, I think what unrealistic about this scene (not shown in this clip) was that the head chef saying to the lady chef afterward "Oh, you know that you have to use leftover rice". A compliment to a very basic skill which should not come from this cruel head chef. For his character setting, he could have just walked away.
Popular movie does not mean its good movie. I'm not hate this movie, but it's okay level.
Too much thing that don't make sense.
Because it is!!! Like Uncle Roger said, แม้แต่น้องๆทีมหมูป่ายังทำกับข้าวดีกว่าเลย. So simple cooking knowledge for Thais even normal pedestrians know it but this cooking academy graduate does not know. And the setting of the movie is Thailand!! It seems the plot comes from western movies.

It's actually the other way around. Uncle Roger focuses on fried rice because it's been the measuring stick of Asian cooking for centuries.
For that chef to appear and act like a prat, you know he read the script, he knew what he was getting into. I love that he did that cameo which shows he has a sense of humor and a humble attitude about himself. He probably made his asian parents proud by not just being a respected chef but now by being in a movie too!
