I always enjoy watching you work with the calves Jan. You are so gentle and careful with the...and the cows as well. Thank you for that. We have recently gotten a little over 2 feet of snow here in Fairbanks, so we are up on all that snow removal you are doing. One thing Jan, this 80-year-old suffers greatly with arthritis in his hands - sure wish you would wear gloves when you are working in the cold. That might save you some real misery down the road. Wish I had done that. You have a good heart to plow and shovel for your milk hauler. I'm sure he appreciates it. I appreciate the fact that you are always cheerful, no matter what. God Bless you and your family.
Jan, from one farmer to another I wanted to give a suggestion on the pump problem. I've built out 3 water systems in the past year. Pumps like you have are usually in a tube well and the supply line has several "anti-torque" brackets attached to keep the pump from twisting when it turns on, which fatigues the power cable. I use shallow well jet pumps for situations like this. It keeps all of the electric components out of the water. A pvc pipe in the tank with a foot valve at the bottom and a jet pump on top of the tank may be a better option for your situation. Alternatively you could install your pump inside of a pcv tube in the tank with the anti-torque brackets, but honestly I'd look at replacing with a shallow well jet pump.
