- MAJOR Winter Storm Farm Prepping- Part 1
We are on a crash course with a major winter storm and we have to get ready. The prediction is for heavy snow over the coming days.
Planning for all possibilities like losing power, no heat and being unable to get off the farm are all things we have to think about.
One of our major concerns is feeding the animals. The goats, chickens, pigs and cow will all need to eat.
The storm is about 2 days away so NOW is the time to get ready.

I knew something Nasty was brewing with the weather. Thankfully here in Suffolk we are just getting rain.
Y’all stay safe up there! Thanks for watching
I sure like them pig shelters bet they'll stay nice and warm through the storm
Thanks
Hi Chuck and Saundra! Last day here in florida and then back to Illinois
Hey Bud! Travel safe.
Yep. Here in Yadkin County they're saying 6-12". 😡🥶
I’m afraid y’all are going to get more ice but hope not. Stay warm!!
Stay warm guys!
Thanks. Same to you. Appreciate y’all watching
Your fields look great 👍 , the storm will not last forever. It will melt . I live in ny the snow isn't the problem it's the cold . Thanks for finally showing ( or letting be on film ) Angel and your better half SANDRA. Lol 😝. The nipples might freeze 🥶 like mine do nearly every day. I use a torch to Thaw them out. We also just fill the rubber made bowls with water . Great idea for feeding now ahead of time . You might want to make some kind of overhead shelter for the pigs, especially the little ones with hog panels in the corner with tin or tarps on it and some hay. Just a thought . Well glad to see you r videos . And glad to finally see Your 2 girls 🤪 Todd
Thanks. Yeah she was able to break away and come help. It’s a busy time of year for her.
That same storm front is supposed to hit Atlanta, also, on Sunday. 🥶❄️☃️
Yeah. Y’all are predicted to get ice aren’t you?
Weather channel says western massachusetts is looking at about a foot of snow...my choirs are done chuck...spending time till storm hits splitting wood...
Nice! I have some to cut and split myself. Y’all stay warm abs safe up there.
I haven’t got a chance to finish the video but I’ll believe it when I see it.. seems like every time they talk about how we’re going to get some big snow it’s never what they say. Which is a good thing but we’ll see I reckon
🤣 yep. The weatherman is the only person who can be wrong 50% of the time and still keep his job.
@@SheratonParkFarms yep just watched fox 8s latest forecast and said 1-4 inches for us now instead of 4-8 like originally
Praying for you guys
Thanks Fred. Really appreciate it.
Mate I love that shed its a beauty, the farm looks great, you are right getting ready before a storm or a typhoon hits is a must..
Thanks. We want to enjoy the snow so we are trying to be as ready as possible.
Same warning, 120 miles south. 0-5 feet too.
Yeah. The forecast keeps changing. No matter, ya'll stay safe and warm!
Lookin’ good at your farm...not too excited about this storm, but hopefully the power won’t go out!
Thanks. That’s what we are hoping. We can deal with the snow and cold. Appreciate y’all watching
Thanks for updating us on the pigs. How are those you recently released in the woods doing?
They are doing good. We need to do an update in them specifically. Appreciate y’all watching
Sondra so good to see ya up and about... been missing ya girl. Jamie is a hard worker keeper hand but don't let him get all your video time. Wishing you guys all the best, blessings.
Glad she’s been able to come help some. Busy time of year for her. Appreciate y’all watching
Put two four x four 8' posts on those forks and strap em to your forks. Hate to see ya bounce it and get a fork through the floor when you move er out in the feilds.
Great idea. Thanks!
Two cattle panels tied together and covered with a tarp makes a good shelter for pigs. I cut a panel in half to cap one end. A few T posts anchor it in place. Pigs really need some shelter from harsh weather.
Thanks
You guys are doing an awesome job. Your farm is beautiful. Praying for you guys. We are suppose to get snow again on Saturday night of 6-10+ again. This will be the 3rd snow this month in Murfreesboro Tennessee. The other two have been 7-10 inches. Blessings
Man! That’s turning in to a rough winter for y’all. Hunker down and stay warm. Appreciate y’all watching and commenting!!
Hey Chuck you can unroll with your hay spear. If you are on any incline at all but even in a level field you can drop your roll and go to the side and push it to get it to unroll. Only bad part is there will be lots of waste because you don’t have enough cows to eat at least 1 roll per day. It’s hard to put out just enough but it is possible. Farm is looking great by the way.
Batten down the hatches!
No kidding! Y’all stay safe
We’re a bit north of you in Central KY and expecting snow this weekend. I was shocked at the bare shelves at the store yesterday! Stay safe and warm!!
Hey friend, hope ya'll make it through this ok. When we got hit up here in Montana, we were out working in -35 plus windchills, frozen waterers, equipment failing to start/run and drifts to deep to drive through. Was jolly good "fun." NOT! Be safe and hope it all goes well for you!
Thanks. I can’t imagine working in the conditions y’all do. Us southerners are soft compared to you guys. Appreciate y’all watching.
@@SheratonParkFarms You hang in there my friend. Sending all our good prayers to you that this storm doesnt hit so hard that you cannot stay ahead of the impacts. All our cattle and pigs are bred to survive well in high altitude and COLD/snow...we humans are just left to figure it all out. LOL!
Off hand idea for the brooder. I think that thing could stand to have some big inflatable casters on it. True mobile
Not a bad idea at all. Had not considered that one! Thanks!
I'm in lower part of upstate SC and we are supposed to get the nasty stuff, ICE . Hope you guys are OK and praying none of us lose power , if so my son n law will be working all weekend trying to restore it. I think I'd want to make some kind of temporary shelter for the pigs using cattle panels T post and tarps
Prayers for your son! Thanks for his service.
I haven't watched entire video yet, but if you didn't mention bread and milk, make sure it's in Part 2. 😃
Y'all stay warm and safe. ❤️
🤣🤣. Will do. Hope Chris doesn’t have to work during this coming mess. Y’all take care.
@@SheratonParkFarms Unfortunately, it's his weekend to work! And the other shift has Covid. 😞 Stressful times for sure. Keep the great videos coming! We enjoy them so much. 😊
If y’all get a chance it would benefit you greatly to invest in a skytrack
What is that? Like a hay trolley? Not familiar
@@SheratonParkFarms it’s a fork lift with four tires and a extending boom
Look it up on you tub

First comment! Yeh, I got nothing yet
Thanks for watching. Stay warm!
Have you weaned all your piglets now?? And is that all you have left that you just showed???? And when is the other group
Ready to farrow??? God bless y’all and stay safe!!
Have 7 left to wean plus what you saw in the video. Set to farrow sometime in February. Fingers crossed
@@SheratonParkFarms thanks for the reply!! Y’all stay safe in that storm and god bless
Where’s the chicks on that broader?
