Jan, honestly the quality of your camera angles and transitions make you one of the best produced You Tubers out there. Who knew that watching poop water wash away cow shit could be cinematically beautiful.
Indeed, it's almost like hot chocolate coming towards you! All he needs is a few marshmallows bobbing along and some Christmas music in the background!
Thanks for responding, Joey. I am a loyal watcher/subscriber and enjoy all of the videos. Water is so critical and it would be illuminating to understand how Jan and his Dad had to calculate the daily needs, the rate of replenishment, water testing, pressure, plumbing - especially in Saskatchewan climate... commercial farms are like food plants. I will be on the lookout for the water video. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.
Brrrr! I always hated winter for milking cows. Ice would build up and things would be frozen. Glad I don't do that anymore. Thanks for sharing your day!
A good writer / novelist ends chapters ends chapters in such a way as to force the reader to continue reading. Jan is now not only the best dairyman and vlogger; but also editor / producer ending vlogs making us wait impatiently for the next video. Well done. You may need to insulate the vents in the milking parlor to keep the cold out completely. 🚜 🚜 🚜🐄🐄🐄🐄 🚜 🚜 🚜
Adjusting those is probably something that needs done every year. They probably slip a little with use. Also spray the flaps with something like wd40 keep them from icing shut
Really enjoy your videos , my dad worked for foremost diaries mostly making cottage cheese. I use to catch a ride with the tankers picking up the daily milk, but seeing your facilities is so awesome compared to those days. I like your attitude about making sure your cows get the best of care. I live in the San Diego area, so the difference in weather is so much extreme, I don’t know how you guys work in that type of weather. Thanks for allowing us to tag along each day , have a merry Christmas with your family. Be safe
Kind of amazing that even in the Sask you don’t have any aux heat in the herd areas. Appreciate the knowledge. Also surprised Lely was not a little more proactive on getting your Juno back up and running. Are they oblivious to your you tube power? If you get no extra love imagine what happens to the common folk. 10th gen just had Juno problems too. Have a great Christmas!
BRRRRRR!! LOVE Your eye for filming!! You are very gifted with creativity!! We enjoy learning about Dairy farming!! TY!! LORD BLESS YOU... Your Mid Missouri USA Friends
Burrr!🥶🥶🥶🤣 I watch all your vlogs to the end. I've lived in Saskatoon almost all my 60 years and although I know we had ranches and farms all around us, my only experience outside Saskatoon, was going to friends acreages where the only thing grown was their gardens! I didn't realize we had such a large dairy farm so close by. I knew most milk comes from cows 🐄🐮, and I had a general idea of how milking them mechanically was done, (I even had a chance to milk one as a child in the 60s), I didn't realize the hard work and long hours it takes to get the milk from the cow to the table. Thank you Jan for showing us the dairy farm part of the process. You all work very hard. Thank-you!🐄🥛🥰
Burr, I love your film work nearly as much as I love how good you are to your ladies. We have a small herd of shorthorns and have just begun the annual fight with the trough heaters, slippery surfaces and frozen solid tractor batteries. I've concluded the the ups and downs are what makes the whole lifestyle so terribly addictive!
Lol. Grandpa always tells us.... " Son, if your fingers aren't blue yet from the cold, you have NO idea what we used to go through!" I'm not sure if grandpa likes me or not.
Indiana USA here and winter Floridians. Yeah!!!! We ditch the cold and head south. I’m not made of heavy stock like you all. I’m a wimpy, weak old lady. I do appreciate your videos and the work you do to keep your systems working and more importantly how you keep your ladies happy ad healthy. I’ve been watching this Scottish guy who does hoof care. He goes all over Scotland and shows some pretty nasty hoof wear and disease and what they do to fix them and bring them back to health. The good God forbid you deal with these sorts of problems. But anyway looks like you know your business inside and out. I’m really impressed. I’ll be watching.
I remember my first Saskatchewan winter!! Loved it though! No dampness! -10 with 60-70% humidity feels way colder than -30 with less than 50% humidity!
Hey Burrrr, lol one thing you always take care of your ladies making sure that their not too hot and not too cold. Making sure that they have clean beds, drinking water, and putting sand on the slippery walk way. They're more then livestock they're living and breathing animals and deserve the best of care and you give that to them. So whats next for SDK Keep up the good work and see you in the next video💞🐄👍😉
I've watched everyone of your videos I'd love to own a farm you have a wonderful work enthic explain what you are doing not only just for United States viewers I myself is from the UK in East Yorkshire. You and your family have a outstanding farm thank you for your videos and keep up the good work stay safe #Burrrrrr
Love what you’re doin kid! Keep it up. CZcams is all I watch and you’re my go to after work while I eat dinner. It’s satisfying to observe a well oiled machine.
Beside Eric from the 10th Gen. Dairyman I like watching Jan and his chores. It sounds weird but it calms me down from my daily chores and work. Keep the good work Jan. BTW, I will not moan again when it is minus 1 again here. Jeez, minus 20 till 30 or more.
Burrrrrrrrr wow we’re having some cold weather down here in Pennsylvania plus we’re supposed to get 20 inches of snow tonight wow I feel like I live in Canada God bless you and your family keep up the great work
I sympathize with your weather issues. 50 yrs ago, We kept the cows inside just to keep the barn from freezing and breaking pipes. Had to spread manure everyday. Even when it hit 42 below (Fahrenheit) and the spreader froze up while operating. I still have the frostbite damage. I wonder what stories you’ll tell in 50 yrs.
Brrrrr! (Thinking about part 2 makes me colder!) I can't believe you finally got the Juno working, but now the ventilation is giving you fits!!! (Job security, right? Ha!)
Burrr. In Europe they always teach us not to let machinery warm up because it means that it will run at sub-optimal temperatures for too long and wear down the equipment more than if you were just going to drive it right away (easy on the gas though). E.g. it takes 30 min of idling to warm up an engine but only 10min when you´re driving it straight away (but with low revs/load).
Obviously I'm not jan and dont know 100 % but I remember cause someone else asked they have 3 wells on the property with a filtration system cause that water is high in iron . I agree that he should make a video just on the water system
Burr! I live down here in Southouth Dakota (upper north central part) and I hate the cold Bro. So you guys are amazing just doing your thing in those wicked cold temps. ,💙💯🙂👍💪
Brrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! Just checked local weather, it’s a beautiful sunny 70 F (21 C) here a bit north of downtown Los Angeles. Other than several photographic tours to Yosemite in January, I’ve never been or lived where there is snow, other than an extremely rare storm in 1949. Rarely even a hard frost.
Watching you hose the yard today brought back so many memories. But we never milked as many cows as you. It is so automated now. Even feeding the calves is so much easier. Love your video's
Burrr. I've been in your general area (Regina / Saskatoon) when it has been this cold in the winter. I don't envy you trying to keep a dairy barn functioning when it gets as cold as it sometimes does.
10th Gen. Dairy put newer/better wheels on their Juno to help deal with similar issues but you did the cement grinding already so it's all good for now. Brrrrrrr!
For the bobcat you could get a rubber exhaust hose and run it to a vent when you park the machine you plug in the hose. So next time you start it goes outside. Put the rake beside the machine you go to the machine start it up then rake the beds. When you return the rake its all warmed up
Jan, honestly the quality of your camera angles and transitions make you one of the best produced You Tubers out there. Who knew that watching poop water wash away cow shit could be cinematically beautiful.
Jan
Jan,, I've been around 100's of farms,, you do an amazing job of caring for your dairy herd,,managing the entire farm, busy place, thanks for sharing,
Indeed, it's almost like hot chocolate coming towards you! All he needs is a few marshmallows bobbing along and some Christmas music in the background!
Yep agreed 👍🏽

My hat ‘s off to you for going through this with such cold weather to contend with. BRRRRR is RIGHT ! All the best !
Thanks for responding, Joey. I am a loyal watcher/subscriber and enjoy all of the videos. You should get a thermal camera and walk around the barn to see where the cold is seeping through
Good idea
Extremely useful tool for many tasks and won’t cost that much.

Burrrr.....froze water is no fun. Stay warm and safe. Happy holidays!!🎄🎄🥰🥰🥰🎄🎄

Boy you sure have to deal with a lot of crap!😂 I am sure its nothing to you. The cold would just freeze me solid.❄❄❄ Great video.
Lol. Grandpa always tells us.... " Son, if your fingers aren't blue yet from the cold, you have NO idea what we used to go through!" I'm not sure if grandpa likes me or not.
12:19 I like how the cows all waited for him to put sand down for safety. Guess they remember the one that slipped and fell.

Burrr! from Amarillo, Texas USA! Great video as usual. Your smile makes my day!
Burrrr!.... love the angles man, beautiful work
Love what you’re doin kid! Keep it up. CZcams is all I watch and you’re my go to after work while I eat dinner. It’s satisfying to observe a well oiled machine.
How do you manage to look so fresh and cheerful at 4 in the morning? That's superhuman to me.
All dairy farmers are like that my friend
-21C is pretty dang cold to me. Seen those cold temps in ND, dang that wind too. brrrrr
Teasing us - part 2. Good one.
The only channel where cool music plays over clips of advancing water with .. things.. in it. Brown things. Love it!!
The saga continues. Gotta love mother nature.
Burrr! I watch every one of these to the end but see most of them on my TV and can’t comment from there. I really enjoy and appreciate your videos!
czcams.com/video/7Ad31_zHiIQ/video.html
Just had to fix a air curtain in our loafing barn . Seem like they only break down after 5PM and at - 20.
Keep up the good work Jan
No "brrrr" in Australia - we are +33c here at the moment. Stay warm
Burrr I even feel burrr after that, nice to know your barn
Burrrr! Brilliant video 💪🏴
Burrrrrrrrr wow we’re having some cold weather down here in Pennsylvania plus we’re supposed to get 20 inches of snow tonight wow I feel like I live in Canada God bless you and your family keep up the great work
Haha definitely that sounds like a “brrr” too cold.
czcams.com/video/7Ad31_zHiIQ/video.html
We start the bobcat when we go down to get cows and then it’s at least warmed up a little
czcams.com/video/7Ad31_zHiIQ/video.html
Burrrr!! It was -20°C here too and had to work on a roof all day!!🥶 greetings from Québec!
Love all your videos! Great job
Brrrrrrrr, When you do get the problem sorted out. Wouldn't mind hearing about you and/or your families past experience managing the cold.
czcams.com/video/7Ad31_zHiIQ/video.html
Burrr, and, yeah, getting cold in my area too. . .
Burrrrr looking forward to part 2!! Our 5 and 3 year old boys watch your videos before bed, thanks for your hard work ethic
Thanks for such good clean videos !
If you want to lower the risk of break down when cold starting use the block heater on the bob cats
Absolutely, that should be a given. Even if they plugged them in and put the cords on timers...electricity is far cheaper than engines.
czcams.com/video/7Ad31_zHiIQ/video.html
"Brrrrrrrr!" That would be hard to deal with, but you're a young buck. You can take it!! Great video as always!
Merry Christmas to you & your family!
Burrrr...
I always watch to the end. Your channel is my new television, gonna watch every video you've got up! #ijs ❤ 🐄
I sympathize with your weather issues. 50 yrs ago, We kept the cows inside just to keep the barn from freezing and breaking pipes. Had to spread manure everyday. Brrrrr! (Thinking about part 2 makes me colder!)
I can't believe you finally got the Juno working, but now the ventilation is giving you fits!!! (Job security, right? Ha!)
Brrrr! You really have to do some hard cold work getting that all adjusted. Hope you are able to get it figured out.
How can someone get in touch with that young man?
czcams.com/video/7Ad31_zHiIQ/video.html
Your idea of cold and mine are very different! Thanks for the video.
I like the way you take care of your equipment. Always clean
Burrrrr - appreciating a cold glass of milk 100 times more after this vid. won't be complaining about my job today, burrrrr
czcams.com/video/7Ad31_zHiIQ/video.html
For me personally your video’s are never to long, I love all you can give us lol 😂 stay safe and keep warm.

Film maker as well as fantastic farmer!!!!!!
Anyone else notice that slick toss of the rag into the bin
czcams.com/video/7Ad31_zHiIQ/video.html
Right “balmy” temperatures you’re having up there!
czcams.com/video/7Ad31_zHiIQ/video.html
OMG! The ladies are so well behaved! Merry Christmas! I learn so much from you.
Brrr! Hope you figure that out! Great video! God Bless! ❤️
And now you know why I *didn’t* move to Saskatchewan 😂
What is your source of water? The amount of water required to operate your farm is huge! A video on your water system will be interesting.
Obviously I'm not jan and dont know 100 % but I remember cause someone else asked they have 3 wells on the property with a filtration system cause that water is high in iron . I agree that he should make a video just on the water system

I hope you work out those vent issue Jan, looks very uncomfortable for the ladies and you're employees, Aloha brother 🤙🏼🤙🏼
I may not live in Canada but I do appreciate how hard you work. New to your channel. From Bakersfield California USA. Merry Christmas.
I always watch all your videos and I always watching to the end you always do a good job keep it up
Who else saw that towel throw that was cool
the juno is clean enough, but there is a cleaner one

Burrrr that’s cold! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL.
I was watching your tictok they are so funny keep it up
We are going to have to check it out 🙂
Enjoy your videos. Now that it's winter here in Canada maybe do a winter video intro. Keep up the good work.
Love your channel! It’s my favorite! Burrr
Burr, Dam cold in Sask!!
PUT A PROPANE HEATER IN THE PARLOR FOR THE SHORT TERM KEEP THE PIPES FROM FREEZING IAM SURE YOU THOUGHT OF THAT
Brrr!!! Looking forward to part 2!
Burrr. I've been in your general area (Regina / Saskatoon) when it has been this cold in the winter. I don't envy you trying to keep a dairy barn functioning when it gets as cold as it sometimes does.
If CZcams had awards, you’d have to win one. “The 2020 Award for Making a River of Shit look cool goes to...”
czcams.com/video/7Ad31_zHiIQ/video.html
"Burrrr"
Our entire family enjoys watching your videos
Dang now that cold holy cow man and you and your family have a good holiday
Burrr. Thanks for the videos and congratulations on the CZcams award.
brrrrrrrr and the real cold weather hasn't even hit yet!

It's time for a guest appearance by SaskDutchMom
Hey man great new intro good job
Love your videos watch every video and admire your work.
Brrrr. Love the ladies watching you sprinkle the sand.
Burrr - I am in Saskatoon so know exactly the weather you are having. Hopefully none of the pipes freeze solid.
Burrrr! Can't wait until part 2!
Burr, I always stay till the end. Really enjoy Your videos.
We have a 2008 John Deere 332 skidsteer with 16,000 hours and we still use it everyday to feed.
We have a 2012 bobcat with 9100 hrs
Yes for the Deere.
Ever get the feeling you're more of a poop farmer than a dairy farmer!!?? LOL!
"Burr", that's one cold video! Thanks for sharing❗❗❗ 🙂🙂🙂 👍👍👍
BURRR. That's cooled Canada Rocks. ⛄❄
10th Gen. Dairy put newer/better wheels on their Juno to help deal with similar issues but you did the cement grinding already so it's all good for now.
Brrrrrrr!
Brrrrr! Have you done a video about a day in the life with timelines etc? You started at 4am, but it would be interesting to see a timeline :)
Agreed
For the bobcat you could get a rubber exhaust hose and run it to a vent when you park the machine you plug in the hose. So next time you start it goes outside. Put the rake beside the machine you go to the machine start it up then rake the beds. When you return the rake its all warmed up
Burrrrrrr! So much work! But I would sure have fun working with your crew.
