    To those of you saying you prefer a Raptor... Now, the Ford is a nice truck but really $58,000 for a fully loaded Raptor is not a value. The ONLY benefit the Raptor has is the ability to shut off ALL electronic driver aids. In addition the 6.2 is overkill not to mention those who use it as a daily driver have to drop about $200 in gas as week. As far as the Torsen lim slip front diff is concerned. Not a big deal if you drop an ARB air locker in the front diff on the 4runner. Spend 5k on a Icon stage 6 kit and you got yourself a real Raptor competitor with none of the drawbacks.

    • @DocWolph
      @DocWolph Před 10 lety +1

      Actually quite a few drawbacks. The Raptor is a total package, suspension, engine, diffs, and so on. It is expensive and difficult to mod up a stock truck to meet, forget beat, a Raptor. The Raptor was built as a desert/dune truck.
      The Toyotas, as shown, would be torn up trying to pull what the Raptor does.
      These TRD PRO trucks are more like FORDs FX4 trcuks. They have enough not to embarrass themselves in the rough, but not nearly enough to be competitive, point for point, with the Raptor.

      I think this is suppose to be more like an FX4 F150 or Silverado Z71

      Real problem with with Toyota is their frames have lots of twist when compared with everyone else. The Ram and Chevy have the best right followed by Ford and Nissan, Toyota has come in last in every test.
      With that said, since we do not tow anything more than 2-3 tons we are seriously looking at a new Toyota Tundra. However, the Ram Power Wagon is perhaps the best properly daily truck that can do some serious off road ability. The Raptor is more of a poser vehicle (we live in Alaska and most are owned my slope workers daughters), sure it has the ability for any off road, but it is better suited for running through the desert at high speeds. Still have yet to see a Raptor with mud on it up here. However, we do see lots of Rams and Toyota's.

      in the towing and off real off road area reliability is a most. ram ford chevy are all shitty compared to bulletproof toyota

      Okay... That's you just saying that to get attention.
      You know better. FORD GM dn RAM make radically superior trucks Toyota. Toyota never had the stuff to hang with the American trucks for towing, hauling, off-roading, or even general utility and comfort.
      After all, it the Toyota trucks were really as good as you want to everyone to believe, they would be the fleet truck of choice and they simply aren't.
      (Whiny voice) But is out tows a and F-150 of CK or RAM 1500.
      Maybe but the margin is so narrow its not worth the extra cost and hassle of a Toyota. If you are going to buy a truck specifically to tow, you buy a 25-series (F-250, CK2500, RAM 2500) or better.
      And everyone knows that a Tundra can not tow the Space shuttle up any kind of an incline, and faster than 3 mph. It would tear our the gearbox faster than to say "gearbox". Its tow rating is under 10K lbs.
      Even if it is true that the Tundra in question was unmodified, beyond adding an appropriate tow hook, NO ONE HONESTLY BELIEVES THAT TO BE THE CASE.
      They could have done something more believable, like carrying a full sized truck and tow a full size truck up a rocky incline at better than 10 mph. Oh Wait! Didn't FORD do that 25years ago?

    I'd take the 4runner because I love how it didn't go the route the Pathfinder did and become a soccer mom car and you can still get a standard transmission, it's a 5 speed I think, I may be wrong

    • @bryandoherty9399
      @bryandoherty9399 Před 10 lety

      Well that sucks, can you still get the FJ with a standard?
      And yea I like the 4runner for that reason, it's not a soccer mom car now.

    • @bryandoherty9399
      @bryandoherty9399 Před 10 lety

      Yea I'd rather have them down by the arm rest. So you can only get a manual in an FJ as special order. I heard the FJs are costly to insure because the body parts are so unique, but that's what makes it look cool

    I like this new tundra, considering I own a 2014 Limited tundra, but theu should have made it with the trd supercharger pre installed. If they would have done that, an would this be a crazy off road/ on road monster. That would make it more wore while to buy. Other that that I don't see why I would pay more for this setup when I could make a stock tundra better.

    • @nobodyknows_115
      @nobodyknows_115 Před 9 lety

      The reason I got the limited was because I got one hell of a deal from my local dealer. It had everything I wanted on the truck and it was the cheapest price out of all the others dealers in the area. Also they were taking a loss on the truck since it had been in their parking lot so long. I just don't see the point in buying a trd pro when mine looks just as good now with a few mods.

    • @nobodyknows_115
      @nobodyknows_115 Před 9 lety

      Carl Stallins yeah I get what you mean, I have fuel wheels right now and am deciding between a leveling kit or 4.5 inch pro comp lift. Don't know which way to go but that will be once I need to replace my tires. For now I will be getting an exhaust and intake.

    • @nobodyknows_115
      @nobodyknows_115 Před 9 lety

      Carl Stallins Yeah it is but I heard it in person and it is not worth the price. My truck has the stock exhaust but the trd does have a nice sound. The dealers just want to much money for it. I was thinking about going with MBRP, Corsa Db or Flowmaster outlaw.

    the presenter said that the TRD Pro isn't just a suspension upgrade or different body panels, but Toyota leaves the engine and drivetrain 100% the same as a base model.. so in essence the package IS just a suspension and new body panels... Toyota, DI your engines already! a 4.0 v6 ONLY pushing 270 hp? Honda made almost that much power 14 years ago with half the displacement and two less cylinders!

    • @-Magus
      @-Magus Před 10 lety

      20/26 was the gas mileage.. but to think in terms of today, Ford has a 3.7 with 306 hp and gets better gas mileage than the Toyota.. i love the 4.0 design and potential, i just think Toyota sat on their hands too long and everyone else passed them up

    • @crimsondecade7420
      @crimsondecade7420 Před 10 lety

      Exactly... As much as I am in the market for a new truck and love the look ,Toyota keeps looking for new ways to shove the same drivetrain down our throats so they can same themselves $$ at our expense.. Its a truck and I know the Mileage won't be great but we are going on 10 years here and there is no excuse for Toyota just going through the motions and it shows.
      Whats Toyota's plan increase the Range ? Increasing the tank size... Nice Thats one way to avoid the issue.....shows exactly how they think.
      I will likely be buying my first non-toyota this fall , Toyota has lost their passion and I have lost my intrest in their vehicles because of it.

      "if it aint broke don't fix it"
      If you need to resort to the Mike Sweers talking points it makes me feel all the worse for the future of toyota trucks.
      How can Toyota sit back and continue to use this lame excuse while at the same time they prance around with the innovation of the Prius and their new Hydrogen vehicles. "if it aint broke don't fix it" is a cop out , but hey... continue to tow that company line.

  • @justinbalderas1142
    @justinbalderas1142 Před 10 lety

    Why not add a supercharger high flow reusable air filters wide fenders fuel injector upgrades on then. And do something about that horrible automatic braking. Then that TRD Pro tundra can actually live up to its name.

      The Raptor was discontinued to make way for the new F-150. It, unfortunately, is not clear if there will be a new Raptor. However as popular as the truck has been to this point, odds are fairly good for a new Raptor. We should hear of it during 2015.

    That thing you Americans have with pickup trucks... I just don't get it...

    • @po.russki
      @po.russki Před 10 lety

      Explain?

    • @fouskalini
      @fouskalini Před 10 lety

      Pickups are made to carry stuff from point A to point B usually by professionals (plumbers, farmers etc). So someone would expect them to be reliable, cheap to buy and run and practical in general. Americans use them to make a social statement, so they are big and heavy with permanent AWD and they are jacked up with big aluminum wheels like an SUV. They also have big V8 engines so they can sound good. Designwise they are made to look "manly" so the front of the car looks like a moving wall. I just don't get that, it's not cheap, it's not practical why would a professional buy that? It's like a black hole that makes all your money disappear!

    • @po.russki
      @po.russki Před 10 lety +2

      It can be a truck for a hobbyist that loves to go offroading and do occasional towing. It's also more professional for someone to drive versus anything else in that price range for a new car.

    • @MYgbpfan
      @MYgbpfan Před 10 lety

      Where I live, tons of people need them to haul their campers, trailers, boats, atv, etc. That's a pretty big stereotype. Not everyone has a truck for that purpose.

    • @DocWolph
      @DocWolph Před 10 lety

      I could ask the same thing of why Europeans are okay with paying $40+K for a compact car with nothing going for it other than an insane options list. "Just keep telling yourself you bought a car worth discussing. Even though the rest of the world keeps telling you, 'No it's not'."
      It's the way the local/regional market shaped up. It's what the people in either place prefer, for whatever reason. As long as people want the vehicle (whatever it is) and can afford it, over-equipped, underpowered compact cars, huge super luxe trucks, and types in between and to the sides, they will persist.
