England
Thanks for the video Red Hawk! Hoping the Mamluks get an update too!
Any chance you can do a guide for the Great Horde? Or Oirat? Basically a guide for Hordes in general?
Korea & Japon
ASSAM
England, Genoa, Morocco, some of the guys you can create Latin Empire as, maybe Austria (idk if something changed in how you need to play as them in the latest update). Also it would be really nice to see some guides for less known nations like some OPMs with big potential or some asian countries.
Also thanks a lot for the Mamluks guide! Love beating the Ottomans very much
@13:50 You can actually wait a bit on the mission. Diplo annexation cost reduction affects ongoing integrations, so you can wait until it is almost done and combine with the amirs policy as well. The later you take it larger chance you get to use it for more vassals.
When looking for potential vassals don't stop at 0. Nations up to -30 are easy to get over 0 with alliance, trust, RM. E.g. you had a nice potential vassal in Oman
I love that in the thumbnail you can see Napoleon with the onion hat referencing the time he was in egypt
This is reminding me of when Cradle of Civilization came out and the first nation I played was Mamluks. I fondly remember being militarily superior to the Ottomans and tearing through their stacks like they were paper.
The Bulgarian revolt CAN work, I've seen it. But it seems to depend on Poland getting Lithuania while rivalling Ottomans. As long as Ottos cannot get military access to the Balkans, they do not seem to be able to stop the rebels. It's not guaranteed, but can happen.
There's some added complexity. It can work; there's a further question whether to release bulgaria for it or just conquer them when they pop out. But it's complicated stuff, if you release, the provinces will add liberty desire... it's messy. Since Hawk makes guides for more casual players it's better to keep it simple and do the added reconquest.
@@sorsocksfaketheres not a question about that. If your going to release bulgaria via separatists, do NOT release them.
Something I've noticed whenever I play near to or a little far away from the Ottos is that they get pretty strong for let's say the first 30-40 years of the game & then their Power Struggle disaster ignites only a few short years before 1500, which then results in them being crushed by the Mamluks or whatever European tag is dominant in the Balkans :P
Never noticed anything like this. I mean, I always didn't like the fact that I've seen big guys like France, Austria, Spain, Poland-Lithuania or Russia being obliterated by different forces, but this NEVER happened to the turks without my help as a player. Even the latest update didn't fix it - in all my games this guys dominate (cus Domination, I guess) everything around them. This annous me so hard.
@@b.ug.p.7681yeah I've never noticed the ottomans struggling at all either
I generally agree. 3 of my last 4 games (I did not start in Europe nor Middle East), the Ottomans were a failed state by 1600 (in those 3 games, either the PLC or Austria (with PUs on Hungary and Bohemia) ruled the Balkans and the Mamluks had pushed up into Anatolia. In the 4th game, the Ottomans were very dominant (pushed into Austria/Poland and all the way to Cairo & into Persia).
Anyone else noticed Timurids have been much more stable this patch? Anyone know why? I don’t see anything that directly affects them…
Vassals now dont always revolt bc high opinon makes them never revolt idk why
declaring war when you have high relation costs one stability which is why don't declare independence usually, it's stupid.
timurids are really stable and aragon always goes peasant republic
My favorite nation is the Mamluks in EU4, I've easily played them 5 times from 1444 to 1821...they need more missions :(
If you don't play on Ironman there is a wonderful mod, Europa Expanded, that gives them very good missions 👍
Yay, Memeluks!
I need to see that majestic mustache bro.
playing as Ibadi mamluks is even strong that goes well with their trade ideas
0:20 indeed, before conquering Ottos as Mams was faster and easier and then you would form Rum which was just blue Ottos but now Ottos grab Mams in two wars so Mams kind of lost their charm
Strategy with Bulgarian rebels sometimes works. It's just not guaranteed, nor even expected and since then It's just not worth it keeping non-cored land... But it can work and sometimes I'm using this (while playing Poland and Hungary, cuz I'm the one who control access to this land)
The Mamluks were among the very few enemies to defeat the Mongols in combat, and they were never conquered. The Mamluk institution had appeared in Islamic civilization in the eighth century as the Caliphs sought to create a military force that was loyal only to the Caliph and not to regional, tribal, or another personal ties. Most Mamluks were of Turkic origin, primarily because the Turks were viewed as better, or at least more natural, warriors than Persians and Arabs. Turks of nomadic origins possessed riding and archery skills from an early age, so that after purchasing them as slaves one only had to refine those skills. The Mamluks therefore became perhaps the most highly trained warriors in the medieval world. They seized power in Egypt in 1250 during the ill-fated Crusade of Louis IX (Saint Louis) and created a Sultanate that dominated Egypt and then Syria until the sixteenth century.
The Mongol Art War, p.109
Other Mamluks founded the Delhi Sultanate out of Ghurid Empire.
Honestly it's kinda worth waiting for the next DLC to play Mamluks since they'll get a new mission tree, new reforms and new mechanics
Admin or Religious might also be strong picks. Admin for diplo-vassal play, getting further bonuses to integration while expanding gov cap (iirc?). Religious for the CB and because Mamluk govt benefits from culture conversions. Since you've already dealt with the ottoblob and have few serious rivals around (probably), a mil idea is less necessary. Also since you're expanding largely through vassals, you should have extra admin power (of course, depending on your random rulers, but you do get the +2).
Mamluks are also a serious option for exploration into indonesia, and I believe for forming Rum.
Also a fun variation: start by (after taking some vassals) invading Otto directly, before tech 4. It'll be a much harder war, but at the start you are stronger, and you have vassals. Take the anatolian coast, get actual claims on Byz, attack it immediately. Then ideally, vassalize it right after you finished coring... likely getting you a reset war with the ottomans while they're still weak.
It's not so much best strat, but it's pretty decent, map-sensible, and avoids the no-cb-byz meta.
Religious is absolute garbage for any Muslim nation lmfao
I feel you could've vassalised the Ottos in your last war against them, free cores on Germiyan & Genoa. Sure they woulda been pissed, but that can be fixed
I favor quality over offensive because of the diplo annex discount policy you get with influence
MAMALOKKEEE!
do a QQ guide next, man.
With the vassals do you trade in favors for trust to gain loyalty to stop any issues with them ?
I saw once a guy turn Mamluks into Jerusalem, you should do that sometime
Iirc, there's an event that makes Medinah your vassal automatically, and later Hejaz can annex Medinah through am event
A very detailed guide once again RedHawk! The only thing that i realized that you can just do the same with the Ottomans but faster? Mamluks are just like a cheap copy of them 🧂🧂
It doesnt feel the same bro
God I hope hisan kyfa gets a juicy mission tree to reform the ayyubid with this middle east update coming
Never seen genoa expand in the black sea ir Mediterranean even when the ottomans are getting dunked on
England guide nexttt
The Mamluks (together with the rest of the Middle East) are gonna be updated next patch, so, sadly, this guide won't be relevant for long.
I hope they update the Caucasus too.
Wdym for long? It’s not like the update is coming any time soon
it’s not coming for at least another 6 months
@@moonshinei I know.
Hopefully they nerf the ottoblob
Is there a website or video that explains EU4 modifiers ?
id love to see you suffer through some imperator rome achievements.
I've been waiting for a build like this for a long time. After 1.35 patch Mamluks weakened against Ottomans.Greetings from Türkiye
9:56 They might have changed i but when I played Mamluks, which was a few years back, the rulers were generated when the event pops up. So if you save, click a ruler and magicly have the game crashed, relaunch the game, click another ruler, by pure chance have the game crashed again, relaunch the game, click the last ruler and be very lucky to have the game crashed a third time you will know what stats all the three rulers have and can pick the one that's best. Hopefully the game wont crash again before the event fires again when the new ruler dies. ;)
(Yeah, yeah, some might not like Alt+F4 and if you don't, just don't do it. However if your enjoyment of the game increase by using Alt+F4 then do it and give zero Fs about whoever might tell you not to do it. It's you that plays the game, not them. They can play however they want and should just let you play however you want.
It's so scummy, but ngl I love it
Mamluks are very wealth but I'm always having manpower problems with them
maybe they tweaked the ai to always grant access, because a while ago i managed to get some bulgaria cores through rebels
When will the next dlc come out?
Why declare war on reconquest of Selanik, which has a fort, rather than a fort-less province, which would allow war goal score start ticking up earlier?
Probably because Selanik has high dev
Bulgaria strat works you just have to be lucky
This seems like a good guide to also shoot for unifying Islam
The Mamluks are my favorite nation by far and I still think Rûm is better than Ottos over not having to worry about decadence
It is so sad that the nation that stopped mongol invasion does not have a unique mission tree
The mamluks dont have there own mission tree, wtf!?
Burgundy please?
Why no cb byz when you can get a claim normally?
They're too far to get a claim.
I'm a little surprised you're doing this now when they're getting a rework in 1.36 along with the rest of the arab world
RIP your diplo points
I hate the no cb on byz
I'm wondering if it would be better to core provinces, convert to islam and then release Byz and Bulgaria? This would mean that they would convert provinces themselves after they received more territories.
You don't want to convert pagans as a Muslim nation, dhimmi provides very nice bonuses
@@viniciusyugulis7278 thank you:)
There used to be a time, when playing Mamluks was a challenge. Back then, Mamluks were like a 100 development weaker than Ottos, so it was important what your first steps were and how far you would have to go to be safe from them. Today? Today you shit all over Ottos. Sure, they may have a temporary tech advantage over you, so you obviously need to keep an eye on that, but you start stronger than Ottos, and you only get stronger with every passing year. Now that i think about it, back then Ottos had cores on everyone in Anatolia. Now they need to core that crap themselves, meaning a decade or two of rebels and high autonomy. Ottos are still powerful, sure, but nowhere near as powerful as they used to be, plus their main early game rival, that is Mamluks, buffed up seriously over the patches, and have become something more than just a traffic cone in Otto conquest.
To add to that, that decadence counter keeps ticking. If Ottos use their ruler as military leader, and you manage to beat that stack multiple times, you will throw Ottos into overdrive - they will start annexing states left, right and center, digging their hole deeper and deeper, as overextension adds to decadence gain. Ive seen Ottos, seemingly out of nowhere, completely collapsing on themselves in a matter of a decade or two. Decadence can really destroy them. A few meaningless wars here and there will only add to their misery - its the major wars that need winning, but weakened Ottos will avoid fighting rivals as strong as them. From my experience - if Ottos dont own Egypt by 1600, they are well on their way to collapsing on themselves. You could say, that Ottos became something of a early EU4 version of Timurids - "To beat the Timurids, you need not do more than wait". Now, just replace "Timurids" with "Ottomans", and youre set.
It's that PLC flag in your avatar? They're my favorite nation to ally always so reliable and usually nobody strong likes them, in my Mamluks campaing they were such an awesome ally
@@viniciusyugulis7278 Yes it is.
1: form Arabia
Instead of getting relatively useless land in the Balkans and Maghreb you should instead focus on expanding into Persia and India for that insane trade income
What changes will the Mamluks get in the next upgrade?
19:20 Definitely don't take the All Power Cost -5% ability "whenever you can" - what the hell man? Save it up for when you are ready to take a bunch of tech or dev push.
„Full annex Ottomans“ … yeah just after multiple wars like pretty much every other nation 😂
Declares for Kosovo gold mine, doesn't take the province.
imagen ur better than ottomans but u have only 5 unuique mission
Has anyone gone Coptic as the Mamluks? I wonder how that's like.
