Just started playing EU4 with the Humble Bundle sale and used Redhawk’s guide to get my first game set up with Munster.
It’s going pretty well, I unified Ireland around 1470 and now it’s 1502 and I’ve got Scotland fully annexed. Sizing up England now for the big takedown. I’ve got France as an ally and they are monsterous this game, they have a PU on Austria and are the number 2 great power behind Ming. I’m also allied to Denmark although they got their ass whooped by Muscovy about 10 years back (white peace but they have had essentially no expansion since)
But I’m having some trouble with my economy/research. I’m really behind on diplo tech (current spread is 8,5,8) and I’m carrying 15 corruption (got into trouble with loans during my initial rapid fire unification of Ireland, I was at war essentially non stop for 20 years, and debased my currency to pay them off). Add to this that I’m only making around 1 ducat a month (as I struggle to get my corruption down)
Any suggestions from the comments on how to make more cash, speed up research, and get rid of corruption for a newbie?

Of course the petty kingdom of Desmond (deas-Mhumhain, corresponding to modern Kerry and very west Limerick) never really was the dominant power in Munster. Thomond, corresponding to Limerick (never part of Cork unlike what's shown in the game), south Clare, north Cork (essentially around Charleville {Rath Luirc}) and west Tipp was the seat of Munster power from the time of of the Dál Cassian ascendancy (before that the seat of power was Tipperary, a real bread basket).
Tonight's history lesson brought to you by a tipsy Irishman. (PS I love, as a true Limerick man, how chrome thinks Tipperary's not an actual word).
EDIT: PPS Munster is pronounced exactly the same as the TV show, not the same as the German cities. We don't put umlauts over everything.

In 2 of my game with irish OPMs both Scotland and England at some quite early point become hostile with me, and i've seen other player with a similar situation. This could be a huge problem.
In one of this game, with Tyrone, I've beat them despite this situation thanks to some good timing and diplomacy:
I've take Ayrshire from Scotland, to have the control of the street in both sides, while they was at war with England (losing).
I've allied Denmark and in a war between us and Scotland i've take some highlands provinces and released Gaeldom as a vassal.
I've allied also France and call them against England, take Pale, all Galles land and a couple of northern england provinces, releasing Northumberland.
From there all become very easy.

This is crazy but hear me out... Pick Espionage as Munster w/ Expansion.
You don't need a explorer since you will be using a lot of cheese. First work on destroying the Danish navy and use your age bonus of transfare subject to get Norway. You just need England, money or the Naval 20% heavy ship combat ability. To destroy England don't fight them, support rebles on The Isle Of Mann and trap the English there.
After eithre get the Exploration navigator then drop or steal maps or Portugal/Castile of the North Atlantic. (diplo lvl 6). Repeat process.
Espionage is not only already in Munsters ideas but you excel at its hidden abilities. Such as at 100% spynetwork you take 10% less AE globally + the 20% from the Espionage idea.
No this is not the best method however you will be cheesing the hell out of Munsters national ideas of spynetworks and privateering. A lot of stolen trade and free diplo points to be had early/mid game.

That's not true, there are 12 independent tags (plus Meath), each of which has an army

Do theese guides on very hard, its pointlessly easy on your difficulty

Most players don’t play on very hard, so my guides would be irrelevant for them

Ireland is so anticlimacit. Destroyed England and Scotland and nothing... Rule Brittania mission and over. Mission tree done after unlocking universities. ☹️ The only good thing is that I have the option to release New Ireland and create USA. First, though I have to culture convert the whole Britain, because it looks so sexy to do it.
