    As others have said, you won't be able to declare independence right away. Hawk is mistaken, but got lucky with the event. However, you can basically either declare conquest immediately(since you have claims on all France's lands) or you can wait for the Burgundian Inheritance incident to fire. Then France usually gives the land up and releases a bunch of countries. Once the incident fires, you then will be able to declare independence. It's totally fine because you retain cores on all the low countries land you previously held. So you can handle the France war, then wait for the truce to expire then take it all back in reconquest. In the meantime between Independence and reconquest of the low countries, you can ensure you get into the HRE. Having the emperor as an Ally and high opinion makes this very likely. Then you can simply take all that low country land in a handful of easy wars(all of em may just ally each other). Plus, this allows you to move your capital to the much more optimal Amsterdam.

      Yeah, I agree. He's also kind of underselling how painful this first war with France can be otherwise. Trying to do it myself right now and its awful, even with Castile and Aragon helping. Focusing mil from the start to beat the French to tech 4 actually gives your armies a chance at beating them. And go offensive instead of diplo. I know it's useful for the HRE stuff, but Charles is 2/0/4 and these first couple wars with France are the hardest part of this campaign. The guide he made for the previous patch is a little easier imo, with important caveat that Charles can abdicate now.

Just a tip if you dont want to lose stab by declaring independance war. Also if you are struggling in the first war with the French you can first do that mission that gives liberty desire to their vassals and it will be an easy war. Nice video!

    14:30 missed opportunity to grab all of Bar. I know RH said not to, but here's why I would reccomend it anyways.
    1. Provence had actually REMOVED barrois from the empire, thats a noticable difference in AE, among other benefits.
    2. Taking it now prevents Provence from moving his capital there in case he loses provence proper to the Pope or Savoy (or Aragon, rarely enough.)
    3. You need a certain province count in the France region to finish the mission that gets France's vassals to defect, this helps with that.
    4. Taking at least the single higher developed province in Bar means that between Anjou and the remaining province, Anjou is likely to be Provence's capital should he lose provence proper to the Pope like most games. It also means he won't change his capital to the province in Bar, as the AI likes to do when there's more dev. there, further enabling provence to join the HRE, making finishing him off much harder.
    Alternatively, RH should have quickly warned Brittany, as this would dissuade him from taking Anjou like he usually does, meaning Provence is likely to move his capital there if he loses provence proper.
    EDIT: As seen later in the video, 17:30 , Provence WAS forced into the empire. Just sayin'.

    for 24:30,you don't have that option because Paradox removed the independance casus belli from Burgundy before the imperial event for the lowlands conclude,so you don't cheese it like you're doing (clearly it doesn't work as you're showing,since you can use regular casus belli instead that a personal union can't use normally,because they just replaced the casus belli table from the subject option to regular,the event making it so you inherit all vassals is also lazily coded to allow the reconquest exploit)
    Edit : You can't finish the succesion mission until 1500 regardless of what happens,since the imperial incident doesn't get resolved properly.

    • @TheTimster02
      @TheTimster02 Před rokem

      I also ran into this, though it seems you can break free through the other cb's, although you won't get supported for your independence then. You could also wait for the independence event but that loses you the lowlands unless you save scum for it.

    • @misteryjeux
      @misteryjeux Před rokem +1

      @@TheTimster02 yes,that's exactly how it works,the only reason he had people supporting him is because he had the event.
      the way you inherit people is also really weird,since you can inherit the whole French Region,sure,including britanny or provence if you pu'ed/vassalized them,but you can't inherit something like Naples (they get transferred to france),BUT you can also inherit bohemia for exemple (it's also not that hard to do at the start,so it's kinda insane)
      So I have no idea what country is ok to inherit via the event.
      edit : you can inherit everybody that has a capital in the french region,or in the holy roman empire,so you can't have anybody in Iberia,Italy,The British Isles,Denmark,Hungary or Poland,but everybody in the middle of those nations is free integration,even if they're at 100 liberty desire.

    I will say that as long as the vassal don't bug out and actually start helping france in the war it's doable (it pretty much crashed my economy for a couple of years though)

I'm not sure if it's been updated but when it first came out the Emperor denying your membership gives Burgundy Personal Union/Subjugation CBs on all the Electors, and since four of them are Monarchies that's another way to give you four easy votes at the same time as massively boosting your power.

    Imo, quantity and then economic are the two best ideas and you should be taking them in every campaign. The -10% development cost policy you get is just so vital to scaling better than the enemy.

    For me Burgundy is just strange. I always think why should i play them when i can get them for free. If you start as France for example and Burgundy didnt rival you, you ll most likely get all of Burgundy including stuff you did feed them as ally. No need to aquire tons of AE from eating into France but also no AE for getting all of Burgundy.

    • @CesarLuisAfonsoDias
      @CesarLuisAfonsoDias Před rokem

      Bonus fact, sometimes when you are fighting Provence, Britany and France jump in and fight them as well. When you vassalize Provence you will fight France and Britany, so you can vassalize Britany as well and demand the cores back from France and get Paris. This can happen way before you 2nd truce with France expires.
      So when the Burgundian event fires, you can insta annex almost all France. xD

    • @harishsundararaman8495
      @harishsundararaman8495 Před rokem +7

      Yes. Its known as the Cross of Burgundy, modelled after St Andrew's cross. They had it as their flag long before the Spanish. In the 1700's the Spanish were ruled by Habsburgs from Burgundian descent, so they picked up the Burgundian flag as the symbol of the new Spanish Navy.
