- In this video titled EU4 1.37 Hungary Guide - Hungary Is FINALLY A REAL GREAT POWER I make an EU4 Guide for Hungary for Europa Universalis 4 1.37 Winds of Change. With EU4 1.37 Winds of Change releasing the meta and the starting moves for many nations on the map has changed, so of course new and up to date guides are needed. This EU4 Hungary starting moves guide or EU4 Hungary starting moves tutorial will ensure that you get a great start for yourself playing as the nation of Hungary. This guide covers the opening moves, diplomacy, estates, alliances, subjects, missions, national ideas, and more! Hungary is one of the best nations for blobbing, having a massive army that is also extremely powerful, being extremely rich, dominating trade and more! After watching this EU4 Hungary guide you will ensure a great start for yourself, and you will have an easy and fun campaign.

The expand the fortifications privilege existed before 1.37 and is not exclusive to Hungary!
Doesn't Georgia have it?
@@cainballer9745 every nation has had it
@@cainballer9745 georgia version is for fort in mountain terrain iirc
@@syarifagathon4809 yeah, I was referring to that
It's part of either the Leviathan or the Emperor DLC and for all nations, iirc
Hey @TheRedHawk, great video as always!
Just a tip for possible future references (and FYI for anyone that cares) in Hungarian, any name with an 's' is pronounced like "ash", the regular "s" sound in English is marked by "sz". So János Hunyadi is Jáno-sh Hunyadi, and Pest is Pe-sht. I know most people don't know this or worse, don't care, since it's an arguably smaller, lesser-known and just completely different language than any other European major one, but it's just really annoying to hear constantly even at airports as a native speaker :D
Anyways, keep up the good work bro!
I wanted to play Hungary for sometime, and started it just today after my game updated. You couldn't imagine how proud I was after seeing that we picked the same idea groups without watching this guide
I honestly hardly ever take Strengthen/Curtail Noble Privileges at Tier 2. If you're going for Manpower, you'll usually get more from having Increased Levies (with Compromise with the Nobility) - and the Stab Cost reduction is a nice way to partly counteract the stab cost increase from the Advisor Cost privileges.
Puppeteer the Nobility (only eligible if you have Espionage ideas) is great. You can easily enact+revoke the mercantilism privilege to get basically free money, you can always prevent any of the "too much influence" disasters, and it means you'll have no problems revoking privileges when it's time to pivot to Absolutism.
curtail can be good if you are really needing money, the same strenghten if you really need manpower, but I usually find curtail more useful, because it's more common for me to have problems with money instead of manpower early on
With Hungary you can get 100% cav ratio without any other cav ratio boosts simply with the tier 5 reform Cuman Lancers and the Hungarian ambition. Playing that atm and it's quite fun. Perhaps not the strongest, but how often do you get to be pure cav as anything that isnt tengri horde? I went with the t2 noble officer corpse for the cav cost. At around 1510 my cav costs the same as infantry. That being said I want the black army achievement so I institutionalized them which gives me a replacement t2 gov reform anyway but eh.
Will we ever see a ming guide after you''ve finished guides for all the nations that received updates in 1.37?
Bohemia is the same way with this new DLC especially with Hussites. Easily became number 1 great power before 1500s. I will try Hungary next though and see how that goes as well!
Very excited for the 1.37 updates!
Thanks for the content Hawk, the Austria guide was top notch.
Great content as always Redhawk! 😀
Also the monument in hungary is really good and allowes you to dev the gold provice alot more !!!
Thanks for the video.
I like how each guide you did for Hungary in these 3 patches, Hungary itself, in the thumbnail, is bigger and bigger xD
Great! Thx! Your guide are the best! Can you make also holland?
Great content Redhawk! Can we get a Theodoro guide next time🤔
Great video man, just a simple request for future stuff. Could you mouse over the mission for a second to let the lore for it pop up so those of us interested can pause and read it? Thanks!
Love it😊
Great video! Gonna try this out with mercenary ideas and lean into the black army. They honestly can become the second strongest mercenaries in the game and with the expanded black army privilege and mercenary ideas draw on unlimited manpower
isnt expand the fortifications a general estate privilege added in domination?
Yes, use it all the time. Great loyalty vs. influence gain ratio and helps with siege competitions in war.
Was the first nation I played in the DLC
Me too
hear hear!
I love this guides
If you do get the horse event but want to keep Burgundy separate, you can always release them again as a vassal.
Lol I just uploaded my Hungary save for the review channel yesterday. Is this a sign? :D
Yay Hungary!
I was able to take the Poland and Lithuanian personal unions right away, followed immediately by the Bohemia personal union, all while absorbing the Balkans and Wallachia entirely and making Moldavia a march. Accomplishing all those personal unions quickly will give you very high aggressive expansion penalties, but you will be so powerful it won't matter.
I would choose glass to increase the efficacy of the state house, in case I move my capital from Pest.
Love your guides! I already tried Hungary but encountered a strange glitch - the event for Janos Hunyadi did not fire for me (I think he died before it could fire) - I got a random heir through an event and had to wait for her to become of age before I could even start playing :P Might've been an issue with one of the Expanded mods or something
I got the event but his heir(matios or whatever yk the good stats guy) Janos died early so I had a regency council so no wars. And then his kid died when he turned 17. I was livid
its the red hawk obviously!!
Cool guide bro but make an aztec one please
Really hoping we get a Hisn Kayafa guide with this new DLC
46:20 Wait, why do you talk about having to choose between being emperor and passing reforms? Passing reforms doesn't stop you from being emperor, and most of them provide quite a few benefits to the emperor as well. Why would someone choose to remain emperor only to also ignore passing anything?
More 1h+ content please xD
What visual mods you are using?
Do a guide for one of the american tribal nations that got updated in 1.37, that would be cool.
You should do Austria’s new Germany path
Imo, you should take the Poland mission before they get Lithuania so they don't have 400 dev, then wait for the event to fire
That mission to get a better chance at Moldavia seems a bit off right? The chance being doubled is meaningless unless they changed the event itself. It was completely determined by if Poland funded Moldavia in their event, if they did, Moldavia chooses them, if they don't then there is a chance they go independent, and a chance they choose Hungary. So if it's that chance that is doubled, it's kind of dumb.
Also, if you don't rival the Ottomans it isn't very likely for them to guarantee Wallachia, even if they rival you, which might happen occasionally, you could just restart until they don't if it's been a problem for you. This goes for basically any nation. You shouldn't really declare your rivals at the start until you are about to start your first war, it keeps people from ganging up on you as the player. The only exception to this is if you can get over 50 on day one to get the extra mana.
...Is expand the fortifications exclusive to hungary? I've been playing Anbennar and every nation has it (Anbennar is not even on 1.37).
No. It's a privilege available to every nation in the game by default.
@@izab3ruNot technically "every" nation, because some nations don't have access to the generic Nobility estate
Is there a good reason to pu po/lith before the danzig event? Apart from getting stronger earlier.
danzig event sometimes does not fire.
Great video Hawk! I was wondering if it would be worth it to rapidly expand Croatia as your subject and then fall under the PU as Austria so you can inherit the land for free. Would a coalition then target the overlord and get you released?
Feeding Land to your own subject still gives you AE - but if would be a decent way to cut down early coring costs though (although you would spend ADM stabbing up after declaring your independence war).
@@DylanSargesson Yes but after becoming a subject austria would have to fight the war.
I am waiting for the theodor or trapezunt guide
Wish that Hungary got some other formable like Carpathia or some crazy idea A/H isnt that interesting as Hungary...
Salu2 desde Colombia pa
Theodoro guide!
do you think eu5 is going to be better than eu4 ?
Wow, you seem pretty, Hungary!
Dejavu
Make a guide for hussite bohemia
got bi got france as pu and he was my rival got austria as pu defeat the ottoman like a boss ... its fun
How can my graphics look like you bro
tier 5 gov for hungary is op, having 100% cav ratio is insane, cav is preatty op if you can give them good combat ability and whit hungary you can, not smart to say that that gov reform is not necessary
Idk, seems pretty appropiate for the era ;)
I could say thats about pax hungaria
I'm Hungary for more...
the first minute is basically why I don't like this game anymore: in 50 years or little more you can manage to become unstoppable and basically accomplish all your goals
It seems like every nation that gets an update is insanely broken in the hands of the player. Kinda takes the fun out of the game in mu opinion.
DO not dec on venice when they fighting ottos, my strat is to build a fort at herzegovina, wait for them to push to dalmatia, then dec on ottos, they cant leave so u can stack wipe them easily (requires tech advantage) easy first war againts ottos, then dec on venice easy....
at this point bohemia, hungary and poland mightaswell be summed up as one country cause they all pu each other in the first couple years.
Make guidde for aztec
In your next A to Z video form Germany as Germiyan
17:02
45:51
57:03
These guides are exellent BUT they could be 50% shorter without the constant repetition. You know this is a recording so people can rewind if needed...
i love you 🥰😔
Hungary -> Austria -> Germany the new OP path
Nobody cares if you were the first to comment.
LONG LIVE TO HUNGARY 🇭🇺
Ayutthaya guide please
please inherit bosnia i'm crying the hole in your borders
So after 150 yr in game..bohemia, commonwealth, spain and Naples as pu..destroy the hre driven the ottoman out of europe..yes not op at all😂😂
