Fun fact the city of Gelre is now part of Germany while the Dutch province (Gelderland) is named after that city and also it used to be part of the Spanish Netherlands
It's the same with Limburg. Historical Limburg is in Germany whilst parts of Upper Gelre, Brabant and Liège were combined into what are now Belgian and Dutch Limburg.
Claim
@@dylanvogler2165 Limburg is named after Limbourg-sur-Vesdre, not Limburg an der Lahn, Limburg an der Lenne (Nowadays Hagen-Hohenlimburg), Limburg Abbey, Limburg Castle in Sasbach am Kaiserstuhl or Limburg (Weilheim an der Teck)

It's pretty neath that this video came out on the 5th. After all it's liberation day in The Netherlands, Oranje Zal Overwinnen and may the spices flow
Informative content!! Smooth, flowing voice! Added to my sleep playlist!
PSA but for Alzabo in particular, the "Fries" in Friesland is pronounced more like the English word "freeze". Please. 🇳🇱

Would love to see more content. I have watched everything you have made paradox related.

Awesome video!
In the previous patch you would still get the restoration of union CB if you are a republic, if you have the orangist in power and has sufficient support for them (power scale)
18:00
I thought so too, because the orangeists make you a de-facto monarchy until the statists are back in power
I can not wait to play this new DLC. The Netherlands have always been my favorite nation to play.
Wouldn't transfer Trade Power be better than Steer Trade. Steer trade would only make them steer trade towards yours main trade node but wouldn't increase your English Channel shared part.
Alzabo! I missed you!!! 😢😢😢
Yes!!! More Netherlands please!!!
PLEASE CONTINUE PLAYING!!!
You need to play more! The spice mist flow!
Hey you’re alive!
The Dutch have always been one of my favorite nations to play as, I really need to do something like this myself some time soon since the DLC released!
Silly idea but instead of going the traditional colonial route, there's a mission that gets you 25% permanent siege ability, so you could attempt to maximise that and just blitzkrieg, same for Hungary iirc
Very nice
Alzabo's insistence on pronouncing Lubeck as "Lubbock" never gets old.
Nice video! In Dutch, Friesland is pronounced more like free-sland (and a v sound instead of an f), instead of french fries land, but other pronounciations were very nice :)
He pronounces it like that as a joke, or he has in other videos.
I prnounce it freeze-land
Please make part 2 and part 3 and however long it may take you to reach the end date bro 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Would love to see the follow up!
You kinda nailed the pronunciation of 'Liège'.
Not bad for a non-native french speaker.
Friesland starts off as a Peasants Republic, so they're my personal favourite, though I've done a run as both them and Holland before, both are fun!
It is cursed if Friesland forms the Netherlands though 🤣
8:23 "The United Provinces" 'COUNTIES' if that was on purpose, well played
9:01 you could also try allying the emperor, the ai never demands imperial territory from its allies:)
16:37 surely Transfer Trade is better in this case? I thought Steer Trade just affected how they place their merchants (but they'd already be pushing trade your way, since you share your home node).
yup, he wasted 60% war score there.
Definitively the best French prononciation among all EU4 content creators.
Haha thanks I live in France
1:08 Brabant: keigoeie uitspraak jonguh, great reference to the East German car 😎 and I guess the capital city of Friesland is Mayonnaise City 😋

For anyone who doesn't know, those ☝🏼 are the two parts of the Dutch national anthem that are sung - often just the first part.
There's fifteen parts in total but almost nobody knows the others. It's also old as balls, which is why it mentions the king of Spain and being of German* blood.

This is the true master of Europe right here, the united crowns of the Lowlands and the Isles of Ireland and England
A quick question that someone will hopefully be able to answer: How did you have enough naval range to take Capo Verde from the Portuguese?
Did you have colonialism embraced along with the "Tales of Gold and Spice" mission complete?
This is the only way I can think to have the necessary naval range without Colonial Ventures, Overseas Exploration, or diplo tech 9.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Any chance we will see a Ming guide? I am having trouble finding any, and it's one of the campaign i'm really struggling with for some reason.
I'm almost positive the Dutch Republic can PU other nations - I think the mission result depends on whether Statists or Orangists are in power for the Dutch Republic, and since it spawns in with the Statists in power, the mission shows claims. If you put the Orangists in power, you still are the Dutch Republic, but you get the PU and can enforce other PUs normally.
Also, are we sure that only the monarchy can get the Seven Provinces? That would be a very odd move by Pdx, especially since the Seven Provinces was literally during republic-era Netherlands...
Just thought I'd give a minor correction, great video!
pretty srue it doesnt, the only thing is that you keep your already owned PUs, but doesnt get any new one, is like italian signorias cant get burgundy even if they can marry Burgundy
I shall pave the world in bicycle paths!
Please continue this campaign
more please
Gelre is best, as a monarchy you can rm burgundy and austria day 1, to get the inheritance and to take land in hre
Don't stop now!
would be fun to see WC
More Netherlands, I want to see Company India!
Along with Denmark it would be wise to improve and RM Austria (or if the HREmperor happens to change, RM them instead) and immediately ally as soon as the independence war is over. The constant unlawful territory opinion hit will ensure the earlygame coalition's formation which while manageable can be annoying for experienced players and scary for newer ones. Emperor alliance takes care of that.
If Austria allies Burgundy before the independence war imho it's best to simply restart.
With such a seductive voice in the background i simply cant concentrate
About the T1 reform and the Rest. of union CB: In previous patches it was changed, such that when if you were a republic and statists were in power, you got claims, and if monarchists were in power (or you were a monarchy), you got a union CB. At 0 power, the republic defaults to statists, afaik. Is it possible that you didn't check the mission behaviour with monarchists in power? Or did they really make this change.
(More generally, it is not true that republics cannot enforce unions. Only the junior partner of a union has to be a monarchy, but the senior partner can be anything, even a theocracy! Getting the CB is the hard part as a non-monarchy, but mission trees can provide that)
I was playing the ottomans in EUIV when this came out. I guess I have to restart my game and pick the dutch...
I always play as Gelre, but I will accept Holland for the video purposes 😊
I do too, because I'm from there 😅
Link to background music at the beginning of video please?
Just checking... in the past the Dutch Republic could get the PU if the orangists were in power. Is that no longer the case?

Part 2 when?!?!?!?!?
Je Maintiendrai, meaning I will maintain, is a direct connection of the dutch royal family with the then sovereign principality of Orange in what is now southern France. in 1544, the last male of the house of Chalon, holders of the title, died without conceiving any biological heir. So just before his death, he appointed his nephew on his father side, Willem of Nassau-Dillenburg, as heir, the first prince who could call himself prince of Orange-Nassau.
Originally the motto was Je maintiendrai Chalon, later it changed to Je maintiendrai Nassau, dropping Nassau later.
its fun little tidbits like these that explain the French and German roots of the Dutch royal family history imo
They are nice tidbits to explain the French and German roots of the Orange- Nassau family mainly, not all of the Dutch
@@sebe2255 you're absolutely right and I thank you for correcting me, so I corrected it
It doesnt really mean "I will maintain" though, it also means, I will bear, referring to the noblesse obligé of the royal family to bear hardships for the people, and also, I will assert, asserting the virtue and honor of the name of the house of Orange.
Its one of those French words that doesnt really translate to English, or Dutch for that matter.

Does anyone know how late 1.37 releases i cant find it anywhere
Why would you pillage don’t you struggle with ae?
was that a bug or is there a reason you had claims show on all netherlands but not on utrecht ?
I think it's because Holland was already my core region, but I'm not sure to be honest
That is a bug, should be fixed in release
BREDA❤❤❤
Couldn’t you technically start as Burgundy, have vassals own almost the entirety of France, kill your duke and trigger the BH event, fall under France and instantly conquer it, then form The Netherlands and do the Mission Tree?
that will be the strongest way to form netherlands but not the fastest, since the new low countries mission tree gives you the ability to form netherlands before tech 10
dude i tried a couple of times but i can't get rid of coalitions it's 1485 and i dont even have half of the requisites provinces to form netherlands.
spam improve relation with everyone.
and ally as many strong nations as possible.
allying nations will reduce AE they get when you take provinces from others.
and having high opinion with nation will make them not able to join a coalition against you.
for example if they have 50 aggresive expansion towards you will make them able to join a coalition.
but if they have above 50 opinion of you, they wont join.
this means if they have 100 aggressive expansion with you, but +100 opinion, they wont join.
so you need to manage AE by shuffling allies around and improving relation with everyone that would join a coalition
My Flemish self hearing Flanders as a part of the Netherlands: excuse me??? Not since 1830 good sir
Zeeuws-Vlaanderen ;)
I don't think that you know what "Steer trade" does...
With the dutch naval doctrine, the estate privilege and a range advisor you can reach Greenland if you take exploration first. Imo there is so much ae in the lowlands that you can greed the new world and block other catholic colonizers while waiting for coalitions to clear up, and imo infrastructure ideas first don’t do much early just because there really isnt that much to build yet.
I have 2300 hours when i learned that there is snaching colony button
Gelre rhymes with Tell Ray

Hup Holland!
"random ruler" is quite wrong it's based on a date you declare independence

4:10 Can anybody tell me, why only +1 adm and not all +1 mana privileges?
Depends on your crownland situtation. You can give all 3 if you can live with the autonomy malus, I usually prefer only giving away Adm and Mil and selling crownland, seizing and taking the Burgher loans.
reformed is categorically better for the netherlands
the biggest decision as netherlands is to choose colonies or development. since i choose the latter, i go aristocratic first, then economic, infrastructure, plutocratic (go for dutch republic, after getting plutocratic, which can be taken as either second, third or fourth idea) and then manually going for stadholder monarchy (first goverment reform) and you get oranje dynasty. then take defensive as your fifth idea, get the seven provinces and voila, you can develop a nation that is capable of just stealing other nation's colonies (which is what i do, with the bonus being the since as netherlands most colonial nations around you don't fight each other because ai is stacking against you, you usually have england, france, portugal and castile/spain building an armada of colonies, colonizing the entire americas by 1600s, which you can now just take (and also spend 93.34% of your money on hiring mercs to put down space rebels since their numbers can't come from earth)). choose to get +1 adm policies, and choose all 4 adm policies (2x for money, gov cap and autonomy debuff which helps if you expand beyond low countries, and dev in primary culture from def policy)
final note from me is that while you are a republic, restart until england becomes anglican, so you can convert.
so now you get a bunch of income because of economic ideas from policies, dev policy from def ideas, dev from aristocratic, plutocratic and infrastructure ideas, dev from anglican which is more than from protestant, but with high religious unity you get enough money from anglican interactions. the only downside from anglican is that you can't have consorts so no extra dev points from divorces (though if you remain a feudal goverment, you can do that, it's just not gonna feel right from rp perspective).
If you manage to ally the HRE emperor you generally dont get the demand to return unlawful empire territory, making the process of conquering all low country provinces a lot less annoying.
you can just have very high relation with emperor and he cannot demand to return province.
