  • It's no secret that I love dumb vehicles. Weird prototypes, totally insane concepts, whatever. If it's wildly impractical, I'm here for it. Gaijin have already added plenty of tanks like that into War Thunder, but a few more couldn't hurt, right? Last time we talked about the XM279 AAV, AML-60-20 Serval, Soltam L33, and MOWAG Tornado.

So its a comet ( like british 5.7 cruiser tank ) but remove the turret and add a 106 (105mm) recoilless rifle into the turret ring hole. The reason they done this was because Ireland ran out of 17pdr ammunition but had some 106mm rifles and ammo to spare and slapped them on the comet chasis. What br this would go in? So it being a test vehicle they simply mounted the ammo rack behind the gun, outside the tank. Not only would this make it a rolling bomb, but it also limited the traverse of the turret. A really weird tank would be the type 65 light tank of the ROCA. The tank itself isn't particularly weird as it is a copy of the M41A3. What is weird is that this tank had a laser rangefinder,, computer ballistics control, and add-on amour package. It would later become the M41D as the add-on armour was removed, the engine was changed, and the gun got modified. It would be a lot like the german version of the M41 in the tech tree (firing HEATFS) but with a laser rangefinder and a bit more armour.

Just a list of wacky tanks that could make your lists (all of them are very much real and can hurt you or your feelings):
CCL X1 Pioeiro, Brazilian M5 Stuart with a French low pressure 90mm HEAT lobbing baguette
Object 775, Soviet missile pancake tank armed with a 125mm rifled (for some reason) bore, fired an ATGM and a SAM
Object 757, same tank but on a modified T-10M hull, plans were made to mount a 160mm or the same 125mm as the tank above ATGM launchers
Panzer V/IV, German Panther D with a Panzer IV H turret
    T88, American M18 hellcat with a T12 (similar to the M3) 105mm howitzer
M45/T26E2 Pershing, American M26 Pershing with an M3 105mm howitzer
UDES 19, Swedish "light tank" with an elevated 105 or 120mm gun, prototype based on a Marder IFV chassis
Object 701 (IS-4 prototype tank), Soviet heavy tank based on IS-2 chassis with increased armor, redesigned turret and hull
M18-T55, Bosnian abomination of a T55 hull and M18 turret
T-29, Soviet medium tank and clearly not a baby T35 armed with the same L-10 76mm main gun
Spähpanzer SP I.C, If its not obvious enough, its German. Light recon tank armed with a 90mm HEAT dispenser, carried only 18 rounds (LOL)
Object 277 and 278, Soviet fast heavy tanks armed with the same 130mm as yours truly, 277 had an 850 horsepower diesel engine while 278 had a 1000 hp gas turbine (not very wack but I have a personal bias towards it)
M113 recoilless rifle, American M113 APC with a 105mm recoilless rifle
And thats rly it, all the wacky tanks I had pics of in my phone, some are odd, some are dumb, some are kinda normal but not popular

B78 GSR, a japanese prototype tank-destroyer made by Komatsu. The B78 was an IFV fairly similar to the italian Dardo, while the GSR was a tank-destroyer version with a 105mm gun in an unmanned turret. The GSR would be similar to the TCM AGS present in-game, thought it would not have thermal sights and maybe no APFSDS shells. Very few information exists about this vehicle, so Gaijin would have to make up a lot of things about the tank. Still, could be a great addition to Japan, BR would vary according to how Gaijin plans to add it, minimum perhaps at 7.7/8.0.

Its purpose is to blind the optics on missiles, though you could hypothetically use it on aircraft too (though it should be noted that using a laser to blind somebody is a war crime). If you've got somebody spamming ATGMs from a gunship into your spawn, spawn one of these and shoot the missiles down, then fire at their cockpit and get a "pilot kill" by blinding them.

2x 120mm RR -as seen on video
1x90mm Mecar - in oscillating turret, because France
2x30mm HS.825 - same turret design as above, but one gun on each side and lots of brrt, low aa capabilities due to limited elevation
missiles - fitted with a launcher turret that could mount either 4x SS-11 ATGM, or 2x SS-12 anti ship missiles, not sure it it was still MCLOS or SACLOS, but i seem to remember that the turret used was compatible Harpoon (upgrade that gave SACLOS guidance to the SS-11)
    ELC AMX-Hotchkiss:
-1x90mm TC901 - fires fin stabilised rounds, traverse limited to 90° on each side
-1x90mm TC902 - same as above, modified turret design
-1x90mm TC903 - fires the obus G, otherwise same as above
