‘Desperate Lemmy impersonator’. Love it! As for the latest Doctor Who episode, it was preachy and condescending, so business as usual for current Doctor Who. I’ve watched Who since the mid 1970s, the Fourth Doctor is my favourite incarnation of all time (undoubtedly partly influenced by childhood nostalgia). I’ve watched every single episode since then (including, regrettably, all of Jodie Whittaker’s era) and I can now say I am officially done with a show I’ve been watching for 48 years. I’m not going through another era hoping each week it will get better.
I wondered what was up with Faraway Downs. I saw it was on Hulu and thought it was a spiritual sequel or something like the tend to do with some actors like Wedding Singer/50 First Dates/Blended or How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days/Fools Gold or Pretty Woman/Runaway Bride.
Appreciate the heads-up on Australia. I just saw an ad for the Hulu series, but didn't understand the connection between the title and the movie. All the mini-series news I needed to know (until Shogun)

I've heard some missing Hartnell era Who episodes are known to exist in private collections of former BBC workers who saved them from the skip, but they're unwilling to let them go unless BBC announces an amnesty that would prevent them from coming in and looting whatever old reels they see which they have been known to do in the past.
The Star beast is a weird mix bag because it has some really good parts to it but when it gets preachy its bad it was like 2-3 parts. I liked it overall but its not a perfect episode. But its not nearly as bad as when they had that weird in universe Doctor cult episode or the skin trampoline that got two episodes dedicated to it.
Who would you prefer at the helm: Kennedy, or Filoni? Under Kennedy, they wouldn’t even acknowledge Lucas. But Filoni has no such qualms. I’d be hiring Lucas as a “creative consultant”, or “chief archivist” for all things Star Wars, to keep his vision in that universe alive. Between the two of them, we could get some excellent stories/ series, and perhaps a retcon of episodes VII - IX (or even a replacement trilogy). Go talk to Ryan at Screencrush - he and his team have some great ideas in that regard… Cheers,
I am not interested in your adherence to other content creators' takes on Lucasfilm. I am confident in my own assessment. Nor do I sit around considering Filoni a lesser of two evils or asking myself who should take over the business when I have no power to make such decisions. I deal in what IS, not in fan wank fantasy.
I hate to break it to you, but even with Filoni there Kennedy is still in charge. And truthfully, Filoni's real interest is just to ensure the long-term preservation of _his_ characters. That's why we see characters Ahsoka and Bo-Katan pushed to the front. He's more interested in his legacy than the quality of Star Wars.

I would never dream of suggesting you look at another content creator’s stuff - you have your own vision, and I respect that. A Lucas and Filoni partnership has worked in the past, and GL is the creator of the universe, so hiring him as a consultant just makes sense. I believe we do not see much of “legacy” Star Wars in Disney+ stuff, as I believe Disney are obliged to pay royalties to Lucas when they use certain characters, vehicles, locations, etc. They are not obliged to pay royalties to Filoni for his creations, or things created once Disney purchased the rights to SW. So, naturally, we are going to get more Filoni-era content than Lucas-era, as it doesn’t cost Disney any money when they use it. That is my understanding of things, at any rate. I may well be mistaken. At the very least, Filoni is a fan of the SW universe, and I choose to believe he is trying to adhere to GL vision for the future of said universe, and build upon it, as opposed to whatever it was that Disney was trying to accomplish with the sequel trilogy. You don't necessarily have to have liked the last few season of Who to recognize Noble's appeal. Catherine Tate is enjoyable as a performer, and she has an undeniable chemistry with David Tennant which goes beyond Doctor Who.

Honestly, it's a bummer that Ncuti Gatwa hasn't been allowed to take up the mantle right away. Doctor Who is a program constantly changing and moving forward. There's a scene where a clone of 11 is struggling to cope with his previous incarnations' personalities, and has to yell at himself to move on. Tennant is great, he slipped back into the roll effortlessly, but it feels too artificial and corporate. Oh, and Filoni was always a bad writer, so his flops under Gisney were no surprise to me.
I saw the first Doctor Who special, and... You know how people feel about Filoni with Star Wars? Yeah that's how I and a fair few feel right now with Davies' second tenure because GOD was that a shameless continuation of Chibnall's virtue signalling!
With all the things I'm hearing about the new Doctor Who series, I'm wondering if the BBC is trying to use it as a shield to protect themselves from their scandalous past with all those.... sex criminal celebrities, as well as, helping to push Disney's agenda. I'm not surprised those custom head figures Hasbro tried to do fell through, I don't think I heard one piece of overall positive coverage (even from shills) since it was announced.
