I really admire minds like George’s, it’s amazing how they can create worlds, universes, characters, situations, and a really, really good and well thought out story that is not a disjointed mess, but a coherent story about loss and redemption, about good and evil. And one that keeps you glued to your seat, and that even becomes a part of your own life. The types of minds that can create this type of things and that also manages to resonate with almost everyone (kids, young people, older people, almost everyone), are unique and really something special. Star Wars is a story that George created, and it shows (story wise, nobody created better SW stories and characters than George did in his prime). May the Force be with this man, the very man that created it.
@@reichtanglevictor1694 There’s some really good dialogue in the prequels that usually gets criticized, I never understood the hate about that tbh. George wanted to make the prequels as a Shakespeare tragedy, so he wrote the dialogues in a “solemn” way. Sure, there’s some dialogue that’s out of place, that sounds cheesy, jokes that don’t hit the mark, etc. Line delivery sometimes makes it seem like bad dialogue too, but I even think that the infamous “I hate sand” is great dialogue, it’s an intelligent way of showing how Anakin still remembers his origin (and mostly, his mother), and also a metaphor of how the Dark Side is slowly taking over him: he talks about sand as something he doesn’t like (Anakin is inherently a good person, that’s why his story is a tragedy. He doesn’t like what he is feeling, which is the Dark Side guiding some of his actions), but something that he can’t evade either (“it’s coarse, irritating, and it gets everywhere”). Let alone incredible quotes like “So this is how liberty dies: with thunderous applause”, “You were the chosen one!”, “I am the Senate”, “Anakin is the father, isn’t he?… I’m so sorry”, “Only a Sith deals in absolutes. I will do what I must”, just to name a few. George gets a lot of hate he doesn’t deserve imo (luckily there’s a huge fanbase that literally loves him).
True but Lucas did say in an interview, I think the same one as this actually, that there is no 7, 8, & and 9, and to him, there never was. He further stated that Star Wars was the story about Anakin (and I think this is where he talks about what we see in this clip) this was shortly after Ep3 released because people were wondering if he was going to work on the next trilogy
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker the Chosen One? I thought not. It's not a story the Disney Empire would tell you. It's an old Lucas legend.
@@Palmer132 And it was, the Jedi just misinterpretated it, they thought they would destroy only The Sith, but they were wrong, as Anakin was both The Jedi and The Sith's downfall.
Luke is so much like Padme! He has her confidence, optimism, and forgiving nature which allowed him to see the good in his father despite all he had done. They both always believed there was good in him and Anakin being reminded of that loving attachment through his son is what brought him back and brought balance to the Force. Leia is far too much like Anakin to have had the same effect on him. It had to be Luke.
@Easson_ Wow, great reply! 🙄 Lucifer started out as an extremely powerful being of light (like Anakin). Then his mind became twisted by delusions of grandeur, and through a disagreement and a battle with God (similar to the light side of the force in SW) he was defeated and thrown into hell (like Anakin burning on Mustafar). Hope this helps.
I'm starting to get it now. There are characters who get to be the chosen ones as they remain good, but Lucas has made it different. Even if Anakin has turned evil as Darth Vader, he is still the chosen one who brought balance to the Force because he is redeemed by his son Luke.
I never seen Vader as evil. He's just a broken hearted man with less hope in his heart. Hope will always shield 🛡️ you from becoming truly evil. Even a sliver of hope will allow a person to rise up from the abyss of hopelessness.

Then Disney took Anakin’s arc and threw it down that reactor shaft and pulled Palps out of it. . . Like that scene in TLJ when Luke throws Anakin’s lightsaber off the cliff, that moment I felt like all respect for the Skywalkers was thrown off down that cliff with it. I felt so offended tbh.
Given the creator of the story has said this, I think we can all agree Disney is not canon and should not actually count. Someone rich please buy this franchise and restore the story line.
Anakin actually achieved balance in a few ways. He spent half his life as a jedi (22-23 years) and the other half a sith. Ying yang circle. Another way he brought balance was making it so in episode 4,5,6 canon, there were only 2 jedi and 2 sith left. But his true destiny was to eliminate the sith who had been planning a thousand years, and this is how the force arranged for Anakin to be able to do it because we need to first understand the force has a higher thinking than our own (like god): Anakin was the chosen one. He was supposed to destroy the Sith and later on become the most powerful Jedi ever. Palpatine got to him too early before he knew what was good for him. Everyone was testing him at once, the council, obi-wan and the force (his dreams). The only reassurance he got was from Palpatine. While training Luke, Yoda explained that Anakin was powerful, but he could never focus on the "right now", and that he was always looking to the future. He never realized at the moment of action what he was actually doing because he was so impatient of what was supposed to come to him it led him down a bad path. Balance can be interpreted in many ways, however the point is he is the chosen one. Maybe he was always fated to fall and kill the Sith from within as a Sith. It's confusing. It could also mean balance can only be brought by the chosen one and that balance would be brought through the chosen one's vision of what balance is. Maybe Anakin got to decide the whole time what balance was. Palpatine just suckered him in to ruling it to his own favor. Anakin survived being mutilated and burned alive by lava, but that should just prove he is the chosen one. He was powerful enough to stay alive, but why? In his lifetime, he was supposed to bring this prophetic balance into place. Whats to say after balance was brought he wouldn't die? After all, isn't that his purpose? It would explain why he died at the end of ROTJ, instead of simply blaming it on the electricity. Maybe the republican Jedi were unbalancing the force as well by their lifestyle. No attachments, no love, nothing. Breeding an army of laser-deflecting emotionless unattached warriors probably did not serve in the will of the force's favor. Think about it, Anakin fell to the dark side for love (Padmé), but fell back to the light side for love (Luke). Maybe the power of love is greater than the power of the force. The force should not take priority over a lifestyle but accompany the lifestyle in a great way. In the prequels, the Jedi prided themselves too much on their ability to be fierce warriors and to deflect bullets from droids. The war Palpatine created exploited the Jedi's weakness. Obi-Wan and Yoda only became true Jedi masters in the OT. Qui Gon Jinn had to redirect them and train them back into the proper ways. They stopped relying so much on their lightsabers and more on their wit, their meditation and being in-tune with the force. "A Jedi uses the force for knowledge and defence, never for attack" however we see the Jedi being launched into war, hunting droids and several separatist organizations. They go against their own code all throughout the prequels. Only in OT are they truly peaceful Jedi, wise and in tune with the force. Being raised and trained during the war Anakin quickly became a skilled warrior and very powerful, but it drove him to be quick to draw his blade and start a fight. He was never properly taught to be a Jedi. Palpatine knew this would happen. Instead of the council focusing on training Anakin to be the ultimate chosen one, they chose to focus on the war he created. This distracted the council from training Anakin properly and made all the Jedi very on edge all the time. "Our ability to use the force has diminished" - Windu even said it himself that they failed as Jedi. At the end of ROTS, when Yoda sends Obi Wan to fight Anakin, then goes to fight Palpatine, that's why he exiled himself. It was this decision, a decision of pure arrogance ("Your arrogance blinds you master Yoda" Sidious to Yoda) and only at the end of that duel did he realize he made a huge mistake. Only the Chosen One could kill the Sith, so why not go with Obi Wan to see Anakin instead of making Obi Wan fight the Chosen One who had been wrongly deemed a true Sith. They only saw a few clips of what Anakin did but they never saw the whole story. They were too quick to draw conclusions and they were acting sporadically and quickly without much thought. They should have both gone to see Anakin first, calmed him down together and them the three of them take on Palpatine, but no Yoda thought he could take on Palpatine. ("His abilities have made him, well, arrogant"-Obi wan "A trait more and more common among Jedi, even the older, more experienced ones." Yoda). Little did he know... When Anakin killed Sidious to save his son-not to become the next sith master-thats how Anakin fulfilled the prophecy. The rule of two had been broken after 1000 years. So he could have almost only fulfilled the prophecy by becoming Darth Vader, saving his son, through sacrifice. Anakin was the most powerful jedi more than just because of his midichlorian count… He was the only jedi who truly learned to love, and that knowledge before he ever knew he was force sensetive is what led him to fulfilling the prophecy, and not raw power.
To all the fans: How do you feel about Leia being the Chosen One in the ST that Lucas would've made? How would it work? The only way it can work for me is if both Anakin and Leia share the role. Yoda did say “Always in motion is the future”. So while the Whills instructed the Midi-chlorians to create Anakin he still wasn't guaranteed to fulfill the prophecy. Anakin could just partially fulfill the prophecy.
I don't like leia literally being the chosen one, but I'm onboard with luke & leia inheriting the role (they are the "new hopes" of the galaxy & of the force, after all). The skywalker saga has always been about destiny, inheritance, and the sins of the father being cleansed by the son (and by proxy, the daughter). So it works on a thematic level... plus leia wasn't really a main character in the OT and the reveal of her force powers & legacy came in extremely late, so it makes sense to use that bit of set up from episode 6 as a jumping off point for 7-9.
What's weird about this, is that according to the Jedi, it was Anakin's emotions that got the best of him, his humanity that led him to the "dark side". Kind of ironic that he not only destroyed the Jedi, but he also destroyed the sith. I would even go so far as to say, if you want to destroy the sith, destroy the Jedi. Because the sith don't exist except with context to the Jedi. The sith are the antithesis, they are the taboo, they are the forbidden. So if you get rid of the jedi order, and it's corresponding philosophy, you take the purpose away from the sith too. What could have happened in the sequels is that Ben could have basically sought to gain control of the empire in order to fix it, instead of fighting against them and killing the soldiers who were originally purpose built to protect humanity, but corrupted by unethical people. Instead, he was basically just Darth Vader 2.0.
I would argue that Darth Vader became Anakin Skywalker again when he chooses to destroy the with and kill Palpatine. And fuck episode 9 for bringing Palpatine back.
I love we go from amazing story about a long lost Jedi returning to the light from the help of his son and ends up saving the galaxy and much more to a random self insert of a random character from a rip of of tattoo
I greatly enjoyed the Star Wars saga but the Anakin character as portrayed in The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith is not what I imagined he would be. Yet, I'm not sure how I would've wrote it, either.
If there is a true villain who has no heart in the Star Wars Saga, it is the Emperor, who is mentioned a couple of times in the first movie but not yet introduced until the second movie. So HE is the true head villain.
@@Jakeroo767 And how about Governor Tarkin mentioning the Emperor in a couple of times? Surely people would have wondered who the Emperor was when he mentioned him to other imperial officers as well as Princess Leia.
Growing up as a kid after the first movie had been out over 10 years, i never really watched or liked the movies until last year. I watched them. I watched the original 3, then the prequels, i think next time I'll watch them in order.
As expected, the mouse couldn't care less unless the cash cow were being squeezed. If anything the sequels should have been about the power struggle in the aftermath of the Emperor's fall and a passing of the torch to a new generation of Jedi. There should have been trials and tribulations, concluding with a bright new future for the galaxy. This is why Disney Star Wars isn't Canon.
you could have done the same, or made vader Pink, does not matter what disney does, it is not Star Wars, it is just disney fan fiction
I'm glad it ended at episode 6. Ended completely and tied everything up in a nice fulfilling package. With no loose ends. Everything was finished. Nicely. No more movies for the Skywalker saga. Ended with Return of the Jedi. Nothing else....Have i made myself clear????????????????
Yes you have and I agree with you 100%! It ended with Return of Jedi! The REAL episode 7,8,9 never got made. They had something that Disney didn’t think was necessary and it was an actual story written ahead of time. I’m gonna stop now because no point in bringing all that up. Its over and as you said it ended in a nice fulfilling package and no loose ends.

You are incorrect and paid no attention at all. The third trilogy was supposed to go with Leia and the grandchildren but that was interfered with by Bob Iger and Kathleen Kennedy.

Yet this is the same son who nearly killed him moments earlier. Plus, he still caused harm to Luke
@@jeffreyconner2937luke forgave vader, because he realized he was on the same path as him.
It was luke's love & forgiveness that allowed anakin to break free & redeem himself. Kind of jesus-y, but that's the point.
I love this. Anakin saw what was happening and realized he could do what he felt he couldn’t before. He could stop himself being forced into the dark.
Despite of all the things Anakin did, when he sacrificed himself and died in Luke’s arms, I cried.
George Lucas doesn’t get enough credit for how amazing he is 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Darth Vader (Anakin) is my favorite hero
This is where Star Wars should have ended. The movies were done so well. Selling it to Disney was the biggest mistake.
The plot of Star Wars with Anakin is at its core one of
the greatest stories ever told

Every SW fan : Yes!
Who the fuck cares what Disney has to do, say or think, anyway?! 🤨
who cares about disney lmao
I know that there are different writers and directors for individual projects in the same franchise...BUT HOW THE FUCK did Disney manage to fumble the bag with the 3rd trilogy, and then create masterpieces like Rouge 1, Andor and the Mandalorian....and then proceed to fuck all that up with The Book of Boba Fett show?!
@S.M.W-xg5vr because Rouge 1 is based on a hidden story within the originals. Mandalorion is original. But the rest is disney trying to create new lore within an already established lore
May the Force be with this man, the very man that created it.
as much as people shit on him for bad dialogue in the prequels, the world he managed to create is unrivaled to this day
@@reichtanglevictor1694 There’s some really good dialogue in the prequels that usually gets criticized, I never understood the hate about that tbh.
A guy who lost everything. A broken hero
We had Tolkien, now we have Lucas.
Notice how he said 1-6 not 1-9 I still believe Disney wars isn't cannon
True but Lucas did say in an interview, I think the same one as this actually, that there is no 7, 8, & and 9, and to him, there never was. He further stated that Star Wars was the story about Anakin (and I think this is where he talks about what we see in this clip)
this was shortly after Ep3 released because people were wondering if he was going to work on the next trilogy
...Disney Star Wars is cannon as in cannon fodder! Zinng
No it's canon. Like it or not.
The story is so much deeper than I ever knew

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker the Chosen One? I thought not. It's not a story the Disney Empire would tell you. It's an old Lucas legend.

I think of Anakin as the great reset button for the force he destroyed the Jedi he destroyed the sith

By introducing Palpatines clones in episode 9, you destroyed the prophecy!
Palpatines clone was a thing long before the sequels came out. That wasn't pulled out of their ass
For all the Disney crybabies saying Rey is the chosen one. How bout some cold, hard fax
I would honestly really respect Disney if they come out with an apology and uncannon the sequels
The story of Anakin closely mirrors the fall of Lucifer!
Uhm.. no
@Easson_ Wow, great reply!
Remember the force will be with you 🫵ALWAYS
I'm starting to get it now. There are characters who get to be the chosen ones as they remain good, but Lucas has made it different. Even if Anakin has turned evil as Darth Vader, he is still the chosen one who brought balance to the Force because he is redeemed by his son Luke.
We all know Darth turns right back to Anakin if he sees Padme again
Vader the only man to stare death right in the fucking face
You cannot change the outcome. Even if you try to change destiny, he still fulfills it.
Not only that but also dismantling the Jedi order did the corruption in a way, leading to balance.
I'm just dying to know how the hell did Papitine live
I never seen Vader as evil. He's just a broken hearted man with less hope in his heart. Hope will always shield 🛡️ you from becoming truly evil. Even a sliver of hope will allow a person to rise up from the abyss of hopelessness.
Disney should have done George's trilogy damn it
Tell the people of Alderaan he is not evil

Anakin actually achieved balance in a few ways. He spent half his life as a jedi (22-23 years) and the other half a sith. Ying yang circle. Another way he brought balance was making it so in episode 4,5,6 canon, there were only 2 jedi and 2 sith left. But his true destiny was to eliminate the sith who had been planning a thousand years, and this is how the force arranged for Anakin to be able to do it because we need to first understand the force has a higher thinking than our own (like god):
Anakin was the chosen one.
Well explained 👏🏿
Genius breakdown!
The Jedi Order needed to be destroyed by Anikan to be rebuilt by Luke, the Jedi were overglorified government clerks before Anikan got involved.

Return of the Jedi=Return of Anakin
This song gets me every time.

😂 😂 😂 😂
Meanwhile Disney "bUt ReY!! tHe FoRcE iS fEmALe!!"

But he was shown briefly during his talk with maul in episode 1
He meant the first one that came out in 1977: Episode IV - A New Hope
@@Jakeroo767 And how about Governor Tarkin mentioning the Emperor in a couple of times? Surely people would have wondered who the Emperor was when he mentioned him to other imperial officers as well as Princess Leia.
In these few phrases you see the mind of a creative genius, in 3 movies you see that all Disney's trilogy is bullshit instead.
Instead we got Mary Sue and the same old regurgitated crap which has increasingly pervaded our entertainment and cultural zeitgeist.
Which would have broke the cycle forever of the Sith and made the original six movies all the better if only DISNEY DIDN'T TOUCH THE FUCKING CANON SO THAT PALPATINE SURVIVED JUST SO REY COULD BECOME A FUCKING MARY SUE
Proof that Star Wars is meant to be watched in number order, 1,2,3,4,5,6, not release order 4,5,6,1,2,3 and that it’s all Anakin’s story not Luke’s! Straight out of the mouth of the maker himself!
