This video is amazing! Your attention to detail is unmatched and if I was to put my money down for an Indy hat you are the man to point anyone in the correct direction

Last night I put in The Goodbye Girl WB Blu-ray Disc and it about 20min in it started pixelating and froze.

I had no prior interest in Indiana Jones hats, but i watched this, enraptured, from beginning to end. Amazing work.

100% agree with this. I was 10 when we travelled 60 miles to see Star Wars in glorious 70mm with about 800 people in the giant auditorium, after standing in line for about two hours. I still recall all of the points in the film wish elicited thunderous applause and cheering. When the lights came on, my mother said we should stay and see it again. We saw it about 30 times during its first 13 month run at that theater. I remember, as time passed, the audience went from booing Darth Vader's entrance to cheering it, along with all of the other characters. I truly feel sorry for younger fans who did not get to experience it that way.

On your recommendation I popped up to Katoomba while on a Sydney vacation (it’s only an hour by car or hour plus by train and beautiful up in the blue mountains; a great break from city and beaches). They were out of deluxe versions so I got a regular FedIV. The ladies at the Hattery were incredible. They fitted me, talked with me, and Naomi formed the hat right there in front of my eyes from a group of photos. While not the ‘top’ maker anymore, they’re more affordable and it’s more than worth the trip if anyone is in or near Sydney.

The ignorance of the “Indiana Jones“ franchise displayed in the fifth movie is similar to the ignorance of Star Wars being displayed in the recent Disney offerings. They seem to go out of their way to choose people who know nothing about the franchises, to make their new additions. The claim is that this gives them a fresh perspective and no biases, but ignorance is not a lack of bias, ignorance is simply ignorance. The two franchises held in the grip of Lucasfilm under Disney, are suffering the same faith. They are being turned into otherwise empty vessels, into which Disney is cramming a twisted, extremist sociopolitical and sociosexual agenda and narrative. They are feminizing both of them. Destroying the original characters, emasculating and marginalizing the male ones, and replacing them with female characters that are perfect without struggle or effort. They do it in the most clumsy, heavy-handed, obviously sexist, blatantly misandristic way, that violates and disrespects the established fictional universe of each franchise, that antagonizes and alienates the existing fan bases, and that ensures the failures of the productions. Ah, but then, the quality of the movies, the internal consistency, the coherence, and the essential connectedness to the all-important canon of each franchise, were never important to LucasFilm and Disney. All were sacrificed upon the Black Altar of Wokeness, and the central dogma of their agenda and narrative: men stupid, incompetent, and inferior, women far more intelligent, far more competent and capable, and superior. The future of the Force was supposed to be female. and the future of Indiana Jones was supposed to be Indiana Joan. Add to this the Disney/Lucasfilm penchant for lying about the agenda and narrative propaganda crammed int all of their productions since the acquisition of the franchises, and for attempting to shame, insult, and guilt both the fan base and the general audience for not accepting the propaganda and liking the dross they were given to view, and you have an equation for certain disaster, which Disney/LucasFilm has used with breathtaking effectiveness to slam both franchises into the pit of failure, irreparably damaging both.

I recently collaborated with Thomas Osygus and adVintage Hats as an illustrator. Their Indiana Jones fedoras are amazing and I myself am a proud owner of a 'Streets of Cairo' version. I can highly recommend adVintage Hats as one of the best makers of screen accurate Indy fedoras.

Hi Michael. How would you say the felt of the HJ compares with the AdVintage? I have an early 70s brown poet that’s basically the same model as Tom Baker’s green one, and the felt is so thin compared to a lot you see now which don’t have that easily shaped-ness and tend to be thicker/more rigid

As someone who owns both a recent HJ Crusade Poet and Advintage's mass produced Harrison in Crusade style? I'm partial to the cheaper hat. The quality difference is notable, but I paid $175 in 2019 for something that's 85-90% screen accurate vs. $550 in 2022 for something equally as accurate just higher quality materials and the brand name. The HJ is great, but not for almost $300 more. Keeping it for the legacy, but the cheaper hat is my daily driver and I love weathering it.

Until Michael began making these videos on Indy's various outfits from film to film, I never realized just how different they were. Subconsciously I think I knew that the various hats were different from Raiders, but now it's obvious just how unique that particular hat is. Fascinating how someone with the resources of Spielberg and Lucas weren't able to reproduce the original hat.

I have a hard time believing the writers in these type of productions are the bosses who have final say. Probably a lot of people that controls the money who have that.

My late gramps got a lot of fedora hats when he was alive even before the Indiana Jones movies existed. Fits well comfortably and so useful especially in a tropical country where we live in.

I just watched a 30 minute video about a hat and it was awesome!!!! I love love love this channel

After looking at the website I am considering the seaplane version for casual wear. The pictures just don't clearly show a grey color. I am a hat guy and if it is indeed grey it would be a nice hat that doesn't scream playing dress up to everyone. Nothing wrong with that but just not for me.

Anyone can illicit an emotion from another person. Babies express nothing but emotion. It doesn't mean they're a discerning audience. If your barometer for quality storytelling is little more than having a feeling, it's little wonder most of modern Hollywood has been getting by with the least amount of skill exerted.

10:27 Like my husband you are cool and have similar interests! My husband loves Indiana Jones but he has a special loves for Young Indiana Jone especially for the WW1 African theater. My husband during his time in the service to South Africa traveled throughout the areas WW1 Indy travel to. My husband loves to dress in old style clothing from his beloved Africa. Seeing your images makes me happier there is more people out there who share a common joy! Of course one thing my husband loves to pose with is a Snyder rifle he recently acquired and a Martini Henry reproduction built in South Africa based on his ancestors trophy. Adventurers know how to enjoy life and having hobbies are a great way to make life worth living! I guess it’s also the reason he called our son Henry.

Couldn't agree more. I own both an Advintage and a Fedoraiders, and they are indeed the pinnacle of the Cairo hat. I also recently got a HJ Dial of Destiny fedora, and that is fantastic for THAT movie. As it should be, considering it's the same people who made it.
