We Took out Tub and Made HUGE WALK IN SHOWER --- Heated Tile Floors, Quartz Bench, and Linear Drain

  • Jacuzzi or deck mounted tubs can be a waste of space that could be better utilized with a walk in shower. The option to do a bench and curbless or low curb shower is possible. Many people like the idea of not having a shower door to open and close when they enter and exit their shower. When we build a shower bench we like to use quartz for the top, and if there is heated floor in the bathroom, such as Schluter Ditra-Heat, we like to run it into the shower floor and bench.

Work of true professionals. I’ve been watching your channel for some time, and have learned some valuable tips and information. We are currently building our home, I’m a one man band so to speak. Approximately 90% of the work has been done by myself. It won’t be long before we are ready to build our walk in shower. It will be curb less, size 42x72 with bench , niche, rain head shower and wand. Might call on you for some tips and questions along the way. Beautiful shower you guys just completed. Absolutely top of the line quality. Thanks for the videos.. James

Once again, I missed out on seeing the tiles going down, the whole reason I subbed to this channel; watching showers being built from the ground up.

Isaac this is beautiful shower. I just started to do shower and bath floor tile. Your videos have taught me everything I needed to know about tile work in and around showers. I started with my own and incorporated it into my business although I have a really hard time with actually pricing my work because of so many different tile variations. Also on little learning curve as just starting out time work. I do like that I always make sure my customer knows I take little longer than most contractors as do all the work myself. Would like to eventually set up a mobile showroom for customers and the other reason is to keep down my overhead. Anyways I am one of those that says if you get up in morning in anticipation of learning something new everyday you will never be disappointed. Thanks again and keep them coming.

Totally awesome! It takes a lot of construction knowledge, hands-on experience and craftsmanship to design/build a bathroom of that caliber. You really are an engineer when you get to that level of design.
Not only does it have to work but there are so many nuances to consider.
When you only have a limited amount of space to install so many fixtures and when you are dealing with expensive finishes that have to be installed by well-paid tradesman, you want to get it right the first time!
    You really are an artist!
    Pride in workmanship is #1!

Isaac, thank you for your excellent video tutorials. I want urge you to look in detail at washlet toilets and toilet seats. I ran in to my first experience with one staying in a hotel in Waikiki for a conference. It shocked me. At the end of that trip I was convinced that I would not live without one. Back in Sacramento, Costco had a sale and I installed it in one of my bathrooms. It has become the most popular bathroom in the family (I have four and am finishing tiling a fifth). I am so sold on these contraptions that I retrofitted plumbing in my latest bathroom where the toilet is a high tank model (the house is an 1899 Victorian in Midtown Sac.) The more people who use these the more converts we are going to get. It is inevitable. They are that good.

Great work as always.

I just recoated my tile with 511. Also (unless you have a hot water loop) you may want to think about moving the valve like near that window next time so you don't have to walk into the shower to turn on the shower and wait for hot water to get there. I put mine closer to entrance of shower but yet well within reach of showering. Right near the window would have been perfect. Just a thought.

Great job. Getting ready to do something similar...remove jetted tub and make a larger shower. But!!!....concerned about 100% waterproofing around large horizontal slider with window channel that would be at chest level. Gotta keep water from finding its way to framing underneath. I may replace with 1/2 sized "basement" style window at head height. How did you seal around your windows????

Really nice. I've wanted a curbless, doorless shower ever since I saw one in Thailand 20 years ago on vacation. Thought it was the coolest thing. Only thing I struggle with is I think it would be great to have a bench in there with a rain showerhead over it, if you ever just wanted to just sit for a moment, put your head down, and feel the water on you. Not sure how to do that with just using a screen and not a door. Anyone have any suggestions, I'll take them. Going to start removing my jacuzzi tub and do this soon.
