If I go back to 2004 ... I only had one Linux compatible game (UT2k4)! and was already happy ... Last year I buried my Windows partition. Only had it to play games.

One thing I had to do with this game was to disable fsync. Otherwise the game would crash every 80 minutes or so.

Going to play it on my high-end machine when I finish building it (Ryzen 5950X, RTX 3090 - OCd and watercooled, 64 GBs of fast RAM). Going to dual bootfresh Windows-Manjaro installs on it and install Proton and such.

I decided to finally more than the intro this weekend. The first couple hours is a LOT of cutscenes and story building, but it's all top notch.
Kojima gets better with age.
I found I REALLY felt the performance hit with Death Stranding on Proton. I originally played it on Windows and was getting ~120 fps, then I go to Manjaro and it was struggling to keep at 60. That is far more than the expected 10% performance loss through WINE. At least for me Death Stranding will need a bit more work on the Linux side.
Thanks for the extra insight! I should have checked its performance on Windows but... I typically prefer not to boot into Windows unless I absolutely have to!
You know, I did have a hunch the performance felt particularly weak when I tested it using the 980Ti....
I sadly can't even get this game to start on Ubuntu, i loved playing this game so much but it seems like my problem cannot be resolved. No crash logs or any logs at all get created wish means its basically just a unplayable game in my library...
I played the Daryl simulator with proton a few month ago, but lost interest in the grind -- proton has come so far along I never doubted it would run, I bought the game without checking protondb...
