Over the past few months I've had some suggestions to review the CP3 Accord V6. What better way to introduce my take on it to you guys, than by comparing it with my CL9! I also discuss the CM6 and CU2 and deduce which is best out of the 4 models of 7th and 8th gen Accord Sedans.

You’re asking why the interior is more plastic in CP3 and the answer is - America. This car was designed with Usa in mind and CL Accord was Japan/Europe car. Same goes with the TSX, when I sat in one it felt a little bit more cheap, even though it’s the same car and TSX is “enthusiast Accord” so mostly are equipped nicer than Accords. However i cannot agree more that CL/CM Accords have probably the best interior design/quality in Japanese standard production cars. Especially some higher version with Half Leather seats and PSS with display looks so fresh for a car which came in 2003.
Yeah exactly
Good video dude, great narration and videography. Well done! Subscribed!
Thanks man
Love your videos dude. Stumbled across them as I just bought a 07 accord euro. You have good presentation skills for reviewing and comparing cars. You could easily expand out to reviewing other brands too!
Thanks man! Yeah starting to branch out a bit now
I love the way you're concluded 👌
That's good!
Really nice comparison video🌹
Thanks man
A man who listens to his fans. More accord and Honda content bro! This was amazing! Always loved the 8th gen Yanky spec Accord. Shame we never got the manual with that big mean J series.
All good man! They're good cars, like you say even better with a manual for sure...
Got a 8th gen inspire to get the most out of them you need to let that J35 breathe... J37 intake manifold and throttle body, CAI and RV6 exhaust. Completely different animal although there's no getting away from that auto unfortunately. As you pointed out they do have manuals in the U.S also 2 doors which are very nice looking 👌. Good work with the channel. Love your passion.
Thanks man and yeah a modded j35 would be fantastic
Great video bro. We never had this J35 Accord in UK instead it was the Legend with a 3.5 V6 300bhp AWD Auto, beast of a car. I was actually going to buy the Legend instead of the Accord but couldn't because of the high insurance and Road Tax costs😭
Yeah man I've heard the Legend is a great car - not many around here though so hard to find one to review
I bought a CP3 last year, brought in a VCM Tuner II from the States for it to defeat the VCM, works a charm, permanently on all 6 cylinders. These are a fantastic highway mile-eater, smooth, refined, comfortable and pretty rapid when needed.
Yeah they are great
Why would you take cvm off
@@shaneedgar3332 vcm is known to cause oil leaks and premature engine wear. Google it for more info, there’s quite a bit of info out there
Absolutely love my CP3 , never driven one of the euro accords though
They're nice
@@KiwiCarLife wish mine was the Mugen one though, that spoiler looks amazing
thanks i love
That's good!
I prefer the later models of euro like my 2011 euro R cu2 luxury. It has a lot more technology, more leather, came with a modulo body kit,has the K-24 Z3 which is the best k series engine to modify according to the K swap builders I follow on facebook. We’re all different when it comes to the accord euro-some prefer the older models some prefer the later models. I wouldn’t own a v6 accord, here in Australia I’ve heard owners have a lot of problems with these v6 engines and the automatic transmissions in them. Good video 🇦🇺👌
Thanks man, the K24A2 is the best for modifications, comes in facelift CL9. Z3 doesn’t have proper Vtec and has a collector style header rather than individual. The block k swap people may use though as it’s high compression like the A2. But as a whole the A2 is the better engine.
The CU2 is a nice car, but all those luxuries come at a cost of weight, it doesn’t handle as well or feel as nimble as a CL7/CL9
Great video! But you are biased since it's up against your own CL9 ;) I've recently purchased this Accord V6L and it is a beast! Very smooth to drive and pretty good handling!
It has "F1-style" paddle shifters and great to put this to use for the corners otherwise I am not really a fan unless it was actually MT! Nice to have though.
I am keen to manual convert it in the future - any recommendations from anyone would be appreciated. So far, Torque Performance, JTune and NDT say it's all technically possible but will be a lot of $$$. Also, as mentioned in your video the US version came in a 5-speed manual so the parts would mostly come from there. However, LHD and ECU could create some challenges.
Nice
Please do a CR 9th gen accord V6 review vs your cl9! Went from a modded cl9 to a 9th gen V6 and it felt alot similar, only difference being the manual trans
Yeah true if I drive one home from work I will!
At 0:30 sec that black piece attach to the Fender wheel ... what is the name of that ?
Not sure... Sill winglet or fender winglet?
3:59 that is very a very shiny interior, what product do you use to make it shiny.
Oh just silicone - not my car so I don't know exactly what he used but silicone usually. I'm more of a fan of just a flat interior tho... silicone dries out plastics and makes them brittle and slimy
Hey would you say I bother getting a reflash tune on my 2004 cl9 accord ? it has 280 thousand kilometres on the motor
Yeah absolutely it really wakes up the car
I wonder if New Zealand got the 04-08 3G Acura TL Type S. A comparison with that would be interesting. The TL is clearly a class above in price point, but it is Accord based. The 3G TL has the same styling cues as the TSX, double wishbones, and the j32/j35 (type S).
Unfortunately not... I'd love one
I honestly think I like the older shape.
Older V6?
@@KiwiCarLife no, personally not a fan V6s unless it's in an nsx 🤷🏻
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cheers
hey where did you get the type r grill for your accord
From a wrecker
Have you ever raced a hilux or any Ute? Just curious cause my brother owns one and I don’t wanna call him out and get smoked haha plus I heard there pretty quick to
I drove a 3.0L hilux and it was slooooow
Probably a dumb question, I did just get a 07 accord 3.0 v6 j35 engine. 105,000 miles, I feel like I should have went with the k24. With good care and consistent maintenance would it still be able to get as much use and a k24? I just want to not ruin the car🤣
Advantage with the K24 is more modification potential and better fuel economy. But the J30 is good
Next, 3.5 Legend with AWD vs ur whip!
That would be a great comparison
can you please list where the CP3 parts are from please?
No I cannot they came on the car from factory and are not purchasable anymore
What brand is the aftermarket head unit on accord gen8 v6?
Absolutely no idea
The Honda 3.5 have great power for a stock motor we have them in the us as 3.5 in a coupe with a 6 speed J series are very restricted with exhaust flow and airflow. A unrestricted 3.5 could make over 300 hp easy
Yes true, although here ours make less power... only like 270hp. And in a car like the CP3 that weighs a lot and has really long gears, it certainly doesn't feel like a nearly 300hp car... My 220hp Accord Euro felt much faster, but then again it's 300kg less and manual so fair enough
Hanging out for that Yemo feature #k20theworld
Not long now man!
The 2007 Honda accord/ inspire 3.0 engine was upgraded to 242hp because it was an anniversary version and the last year you need to review one of those then you will see that it can compete with that j35 and your car
Yeah a full power j30 would probably be fantastic. It's just the rest of the car and transmission that lets it down
Hey I'm just wondering how much was your reflash?
$450
Does anyone know where I can get basic mods done to my car (eg lowering, muffler delete or buying/changing rims) here in nz? Any reputable company across nz that does those?
Google.
A lot of people go to country mechanics that take cash because they don’t over charge you
@@nathanielmg_ search for local tuning shops or do it yourself
@@jrhpng I don’t think google will tell me what company are reputable reviews can be easily faked these days
Review the kb1 Honda legend my guy! I only wish it had manual but, sequential paddles are okay. Tbh that’s the only thing keeping me from calling it my favorite in the States it’s a Acura RL which I wish they never killed the legend name here. I want to reach out to Honda and design a new legend centered around an electric platform but, it needs to be done right needs performance of the highest standard for the next generation and luxury to match. The legend should never of died last year some one get me Honda’s marketing team.
Was about to trade it in for a CL9 tsx here with a 6 speed. I’m thinking I’m gonna try the impossible and swap it with a manual transmission but, it’s gonna take a lot of custom work. Idk maybe taking a newer motor with the 3.7 that had shawd from the TL and the 6 speed will be easier. Just swap the wiring harnesses And ecu, i believe I would be good if I did that. Love my Japanese j35 tho had to import a new motor after it was stolen and beaten to pieces but she runs like a champ now
Will do at some point man! And yeah it was a good car... just not what sells these days unfortunately...
I would find a tuner and de-activate VCM... It's not been known to be reliable in the long run.
Not really knowledgeable on vcm but yeah I guess that makes sense
@@KiwiCarLife Yeah it turns it into an oil burner due to worn piston rings. And when it turns into an oil burner, other things start to break down as well. Like the cat, spark plugs, etc.
Hey man, do you reckon a 06 type s with 38k km on it for a sale price of 14k is worth it?
If it's only 38,000km then yeah for sure you'll never ever find one with less ks - only provided it's manual tho
@@KiwiCarLife it sold 😭 was an automatic k20-a2 type s cl9 😭
@@theknightofren oh if it was only a k20 then heck no I wouldn't pay that
@@KiwiCarLife sorry i meant k24-a2 lol
@@theknightofren ah that's more like it. Still auto tho... I wouldn't be too sad. Wait for a decent manual one
Wow that v6 in a manual would be beautiful.
Oh absolutely
I had a cp3 for 1 month before selling it dur to jnsanely uncomfortable seats - there was this bar jabbing into my lower back...apparety a common issue
Yeah I’ve heard that actually as they wear out that must start to happen
How is the auckland city gas mileage on the v6?
Uhh not flash haha maybe like 10L/100km
@@KiwiCarLife thanks for the reply m8. I got a good deal on one off of a dealership. Its a trade in, there was a jerk when starting from stabd still. It is hardly noticeable. The dealer said, he could do a tranny flush and a full service and that should fix it. I am new to transmission issues with a car. 😅
How come you didn’t line the CL9 up with the CP3? It’s like you avoid any car that might chop it hey :p
No roads around there to get them side by side. But from driving both back to back I can confidently say my Accord would chop
@@KiwiCarLife hahaha that’s sick! I drove an 8th gen 3.5L years ago at a dealership and thought it was boring, didn’t get to give it a proper squirt to even feel the v6 Vtec. But sohc so I can’t imagine it to be very dramatic when it comes on.
Ayo mate, can u make comparisson of Accord X ? It would be interesting to watch. :)))))
Unfortunately no as we don't get it here
@@KiwiCarLife maybe in the future?

Awesome! Thank you for doing a CP3 comparison with your CL9. You have confirmed what I love about the CP3, that J35 is such a great engine, heaps of power and torque and can be relatively economical if driven carefully. The understeer is expected due to the weight but the chassis is solid, typical of this generation of Hondas. I own a CP3 like this one and it was such a good car on my Coromandel Peninsula road trip. Good comfort, space and plenty of power for the overtaking!
Yeah absolutely it's a great family car just not as much of a driver's car as the cl7/9
9th gen v6 is the accord to get.
8th gen sedan don't even have vtec and auto gearbox isn't that good
It does have VTEC but yeah the 6 speed auto is a lot better in the newer shape
Honestly i feel the CU2s interior is far better than these and looks better too
Yeah absolutely
The flaw of the CU2 is the steering rack though... It's completely numb.
@@The_Noticer. what do you mean? I didn't notice any difference between the cl9 and cu2 although I do like the thinner cl9 wheel
@@chrisskelly6408 Well i've owned both, and the CU1/2 steering wheel was heavier yet had much less connection to the road due to the long-ratio EPS. CM2 is lighter and you feel what the wheels are doing because it's hydraulic.
