Thanks for Watching!
Great video mate, still love the CL9
Nice man!
6:22 One reason our cars feel sloppy when shifting fast in the high rpms is because it has something called a Clutch Delay Valve, it’s located between the clutch slave & clutch master cylinder.
You can swap in an after market clutch slave / master cylinder that doesn’t have a clutch delay valve, aftermarket brands like hybrid, k-tuned, etc or you can actually get an OEM one from a 2001-2005 honda civic “EM2” that doesn’t have a delay valve.
Another thing you can do to remedy that sloppy shifting feel is replace the shifter bushings with something better.
Also consider a lighter weight flywheel & upgraded clutch, some people recommend the dc5 flywheel in the cl9.
May be worth looking into!
I heard of this mod before. I have a UK 2.4 cl9 and I cant find a part number for this EM2 master cylinder, is it a straight fit?
It's not really the clutch delay valve that causes the issue I'm talking about. It's more the engine mounts are much softer. It needs a torque damper or something
My CL7r has the same issue, I'm granny shifting and even at lower rpms I can still see my passengers lurching forward too.
@@Regan-n7g yh, totally not happy with my cl9 2.4 uk gearbox, had both master and slave replaced new clutch, but its all over the place.
Next step is to get a 50° vtc pinion and a tsx cams if you don't want spend a lot, and RRC intake manifold + bigger throttle body, and you will get the same behaviour and power that the EP3
That's true, not sure if I wanna spend any more money on this thing tho aye
i’ve driven all i love the CL9 more because its a more like a mature bigger brother it can adapt any situation and 4 door is better for my daily
but would love a DC5 or EP3 for weekends❤️❤️
The potential in the cl9 is enough for me, yes the others are sportier, faster, but after getting out of my cars I have to want to turn around just to admire the looks of it. The others just don’t have that style factor, for me, the cl9 does it.
@@jxhern22 yeah true man dc5 and ep3 are definitely best kept as weekend cars
Need to chuck a k-swapped EK or EG in the mix as well for comparison 😎 Great video mate, have only recently discovered your channel and loving the content from Australia 🙌
Thanks man! Not a fan of the older civics personally
Aside of being a Honda driver, this is a overall really nice Channel!
Cheers
Great video. Started to watch these when I got myself an auto 03 euro. Thanks to your videos I now have a manual 07 euro stock. I like your comparisons as I noticed I would reach for the keys of the accord over my 86.
Thanks man and interesting!
Hell ya man keeping the old spool Hondas alive, I have a 04 civic and 96 accord. But I've always loved the tsx/accord great looking cars.
@@carvedfromlife8949 Nice man! I used to have a 94 accord too - great fun
@@KiwiCarLife ya I seen that in some of your early vids. And just saying I don't think you over praise your car, I think the tsx/accord is just a well balance car. It's right in between boring family sedan and fun sports car.
The ep3 sound is music to my ears but the owner needs to get that beauty detailed
Oh yeah the sound is amazing aye
Just discovered your videos...and they're damn good!! Love your enthusiasm for Hondas, and as an EP3 owner from NZ, it's great to see NZ content 😊 gotta love the fact that we have so many awesome JDM spec cars here in NZ 👍
Thanks man!
Pros and cons spot on and of the 3 the cl9 is a bit of a sleeper. Like you i like the ep3 over the bunch.
Indeed
Wow. What a video. Was strange to hear such a familiar accent since I usually expect this level of quality from countries other than NZ! Awesome stuff! Hope to see a couple Toyotas in the future :)
Thanks man!
Sounds amazing
Indeed!
I love my EP3 Si. K24A2 with RSX Type-S trans. Here in the States
Nice!
All three are beautiful but I’d rate the Integra the highest, of course.
Certainly in stock form but out of the three I tested I reckon the ep3 was the best because of the engine and more comfortable seats. Too bad it wasn't facelift! They look much better
@@KiwiCarLife yeah I prefer both the dc5 and ep3 facelifts. K24 seems to be the best recipe for Honda fun.
I've gotta say it, that EP3 is rough as guts. How hard would it have been for the owner to detail it prior to the video. It looks like a diesel mechanics daily drive from his remote farm in the mountains.
He uses it every day... Had it for about 10 years I think so it's not surprising
I just got a Accord Euro luxury pack, my god what a gem of a car.
Mm yes I'm very happy with mine
@@KiwiCarLife I noticed 😅 your videos is what inspired me to buy one. I wish it was manual but it's got everything else. I can't get over how well built these cars are for the age.
Awesome vid mate. Can guarantee that DC5 will be making more than 160KW at the crank. Normal K20s make 160kw at the wheel with a decent tune and bolt ons.
A properly done k20/24 build should easily be making north of 170KW at the wheels which is obviously even more at the crank
He got it dynod at 160ish atw
I agree. Most K20/K24 builds I’ve heard of make well over the 160kw range.
@@KiwiCarLife you said 160kw to the crank in the video which is the reason for my comment
@@roge172 ahh sorry yeah I messed that up - should be about 150atw for accord, 160atw for integra and 180atw for civic (roughly)
@@KiwiCarLife that makes a bit more sense haha
Is the loud great sounding vtec in the EP3 not due more to rbc intake rather than the cams? The reason I ask is I'm looking to get that sound myself!
Definitely the cams but the intake I suppose allows you to hear it better
also that integra is preem af but kinda needs a tune ay? i reckon k24 k20 can put out way more than 160 kw, was hoping 170-175 kw
It's basically stock and running on a basemap so yeah it could probably make more but not till he does more mods. And also it's a k20a2 head which doesnt flow hugely better than a k24 head
Bro I'm waiting for you to do a Honda Prelude Review
Will be a while away sorry man! Waiting for the guy to get his car all fixed up
@@KiwiCarLife All good man, good to hear that it’s coming in the future
Prelude video is out!
@@KiwiCarLife just watched it, great video
Shifting on the accord is strange due to additional delay valve on the main clutch cylinder...I hate it to too...
I find it fine
My old EP3, traded it in to a dealer in Hamilton in Aug 2010. Ha ha it sure is rougher than I remember it.
Small world!
6:54 Acutally here in the US we have the k24a2 in the Acura TSX which is about as close to a factory big block k24 with the k20 vtec system. The 06-08 TSX motors are a top dog of them all I have one in my swapped dc integra and it pulls hard af.
Yes thank you I am very well familiar with Honda engines
Are you in Auckland??
I have a ep3 if you wanna review it and compare it to the k24 ep3 on this video 😉
I was up there to film some videos... I might be back later this year. If so definitely keen!
Great review
Cheers
Hi, I currently have the ep3 here. Thinking about doing a few video's on it. I see you say it has "jtune cams" in the description. Any chance you know anymore spec's on them or could find out? Thanks!
Oh you've bought the EP3 in this video? I'm not completely sure what cams they were tbh. Very limited details on this car
@@KiwiCarLife All good, yeah i found receipts for the work done by jtune, but is super vague as well, just says cams, springs retainers etc.. clutch is stuffed atm, but should be a bit more power in it, with a few tweaks here and there. A friend owns it
@@KiwiCarLife Took the cover off, they are "stage 2" bc cams - BC0042-2. made 171kw on my dyno with the tune that was on it..
This is awesome
Thanks
Welcome to Aukcland!
Thank you!
1:58 whats up with that lovely block of wood and zip tie hmmmm 🤔🤔
Bumper to headlight gap adjuster
@@CL9k24a3 hah yep that made it in
@@KiwiCarLife did the same thing 😄
Yk how you always say how special and good the k20as feel, did either of these k24s feel as good? If you know what I mean
Ep3 one definitely did!
Im going to buy gen 8 accord 2.0. bad or good choice? I cant find a proper 7th gen with low miles in my area
Yeah it'll be good but kinda slow
Do you know what cams the ep3 is running? That sounds is amazing 🤩 music to my ears 🤗
I believe they are Jtune cams. They sound pretty good aye!
@@KiwiCarLife yes they sure do, Also if your interested I have a CL9 Type S with ram intake/PLM headers and Yonaka catback and a ecu/gearbox flash if your interested to do another comparison between yours and a auto as its pretty comparable with mods to yours.
@@08CL9 would be keen! Where abouts are you?
@@KiwiCarLife I'm in Auckland so next time your up this way I'd be more than happy to let you take it
@@08CL9 sounds good man!
Accord is nice the other 2 are rough
They are a bit... At least they're being put to good use rather than locked up in a garage. EP3 was amazing to drive tho!
Did you take your headers off the CL9? Sounds a bit more tame
Nah just how it's always been...
no ek no eg? :(
in terms of racing feel i think honda crx is best then probs ek eg
Nahhh too old and tinny. They're single purpose vehicles
LSD makes the difference
Yeah does a bit
Cant help yourself ay mate just compare the 2 on the sides dont always have to bring your car in 😂
Why not bring it in?
Theres no downside to comparing his car really, the cars all have engines from the same family and plus a lot of his subs are CL9 owners
@@undercoverlord yeah and because most of my subs are accord owners, videos featuring an accord get more views
@@KiwiCarLife #SedanGameStrong
k20a2 is the best k series engine
Not the k20a? K20z1? K24a2?
@@KiwiCarLife yup every k series I good but k20a2 is the king for tunning
@@nikolamilenkovski1436 disagree. It's got the weakest cams of the bunch.
