  • Right Brake Disassembly Tutorial
In my previous videos CASE 580C Left Side Brake Disassembly and Reassembly, I realized that there was definitely a problem with both the left brake and the right brake. I wasn't sure what the exact problem was so I started by removing the left brake housing. What I found was a lot of rusted parts. This video focuses on the disassembly of the right brake. My next video will focus on the problem that caused the right brake failure and how I repaired it. Then sometime in January 2023, I will have completed the reassembly video of the right brake which posed more of a challenge. Thanks for watching, please consider subscribing and be safe and be blessed. :-)

Dale @ Tractor Stuff is great!! I have benefited from his knowlegde and expertise to completley rebuild/restored my 580c. Dale is the absolute go to for all things Case. Tip for putting the carrier plate back on over the spline shaft- Cut the bottom end off an Ice soda bottle. It slips over the spline shaft perfictly. The thin plastic of the bottle protects the Oil Seal as you push the carrier plate back on. Just one of the many tips Dale gave me.

Thank you for the video. I have a 580D that has an issue with the brakes on the other side locking up. It's nice to see what I'm up against! I appreciate your 🔧 wrenching!

SUGGESTION to ALL! NEVER ever ever ever begin repairs without pressure washing! (unless emergency)! First, your job will go much faster! Second, you won't end up with trash back into your machine!

Thanks for the video. I was worried there was so much more work to get that job done. Currently I have an emergency brake stuck, no pedal for the right brake and left brake gets a pedal but pushes brake fluid out of the cap on the brake case. Looks like I’ll need to take everything apart to see what’s going on.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to get the springs that hold the brake discs together in place. That's the only part you don't show.

Sorry Richard, I just went back and watched the video. I too had problems and somehow worked thru them. I don't remember exactly how I accomplished that. Sorry

I can’t mind in manual, but do you just use simple brake fluid to fill master cylinder?

  • @randyramsey458

how do you bleed the brakes?

Check out my video on the reassembly of the left brake. I think it’s around timeline 13:19. That’s what I was doing.

I made a simple pressure brake bleeder. I used a small quart sized garden type pressure sprayer, some silicone tubing and made a small steel plate that would cover the opening at the top of the master cylinder. I modified the nozzle on the tip of the pressure sprayer to connect to one end silicone tubing. Then I drilled and tapped a hole on the steel plate, threading it to accept the male end of a hose barb fitting. I used a piece of rubber to create a good seal between the top of the master cylinder and the steel plate. I drilled a hole in the center of the rubber so brake fluid would flow into the master cylinder reservoir. I connected the other end of the silicone tubing to the hose barb. Using a clamp, I clamped the steel plate to the master cylinder. Then I filled the spray bottle half full with new brake fluid. I pumped/pressurize the sprayer bottle. Then slightly cracked the slave cylinder bleed nipple and let the fluid run out into a collection bottle. It worked great. About a year later I made a new top steel plate to fit over both master cylinder reservoirs with its own threaded clamp, which made it super easy to pressure bleed both at the same time. .
