  • In my previous video "CASE 580C Should I Buy This" Part #1 and Part #2, I realized that there was definitely a problem with the left brake that prevented the loader from moving while under power. I wasn't sure what the exact problem was so I started by removing the left brake housing. What I found was a lot of rusted parts. I freed up one major part that allowed me to get the loader moving again. This video focuses on the disassembly of the left brake and freeing up those rusted parts. My next video will focus on the reassembly of the left brake. Thanks for watching, please consider subscribing and be safe and be blessed. :-)

Welcome to Case 480 and 580 brakes. You did a great job learning your way through this. The lever pin you freed up should have a grease zerk in the end of the pin. The C model was the last to use DOT 3 fluid. the later D and E models use dextron in the Master and slave Cylinders.

I have a 580C, I changed out the backhoe for a FACTORY three point hydraulic hitch then put a Gannon box scraper blade w/hydraulic rippers or scarifiers on it for weight and grading roads.

I have a 580d backhoe with a lock up wheel I need to haul back home. I figured you would be the guy to asked. Do you think it's possible for me to free the brake up on the machine without tearing it apart. I just want to get it to my shop which is 400 plus miles away

First off, I’m not an authority on the Case 580’s. I would not with any certainty be able to advise you. I had the same problem and the same question. I use another tractor to give my 580C a little nudge forward while in gear running. The left brake was my froze up brake. It freed up and I drove it home 2 miles. I hope that helps.
