Srb2 veteran here, just some heads up
The eight emerald is obtained in the last demo before 2.0
On green flower act 2,you gotta find redxvi who is well hidden, he will give you the eight chaos emerald if you leave him alone.
Talking about redxvi, in the 1.95 demo, if you jump many times in the house of greenflower act 1,he will be mad at you and will send you to hell that is an early version of red mountain. Quite ironic now that he os a priest that sends you to heaven
Every copy of srb2 is personalized can be a meta joke on how everybody can literally personalize their game with the wads and luas they install.
Mystic realm should have made an appearance, being a long run mod that's been going since 1.95
is it kind of a bad deal talking about Mystic Realm, due to the really bad behind-the-scene that caused the one person behind the project to get banned in the first place.
So I DIDN'T just imagine that easter egg I saw on youtube ages ago about going to hell.

The "T posing Amy" entry refers to unused sprites in player.dta for Amy that depicts her t posing
And the "SRB3 tech demo" is from a video that depicts a sonic game in the roly poly putt engine. The only level is gfz 1
the srb2 tech demo is actually called SRBX, a game SSNTails is working on.

The only thing he's been working on recently is his own original games.
“GFZ3 Circle” is *most likely* referring to the fact that in zone builder, you can see a big circle near the level itself. Not sure what else it could be referencing.
I guess that's why it's at the bottom of the chart lol.

"T-Pose Amy" is when you hit the "Custom Button 3" with Amy during the "got through act" screen
There's so much that would be deeper than all of this. To me this is the tip of the iceberg. Srb2 has been around a long ass time. For example, Invader Zim used to be the 4th playable character waaay back, and Zim's Base Zone was a popular vanilla map in Match mode even until 2.0. Idk why things like emblems and unlockable characters are even on this.
1) The Metal Sonic fight it's _possibly_ also a Meme entry (most likely), being a reference to the "Wario Apparition", and the personalized AI... just a wild-guess
2) About NSFW Addons, there is _one_ in particular... "Mod That Ruins SRB2" and "Mod That Ruins SRB2Kart"
3) This is mostly a stupid thing to notice, but Big The Cat was actually added later on by Addons made by some fans... Dunno why, but just some curiosity
4) Placeholder Knuckles is actually nicknamed "Plug-Hand Knuckles", due to how it's poorly modeled hands and the resolution, made them look like actual plugs
5) Missing versions might also refer to some levels in different versions or prototypes that got canned over the time. This includes Red Volcano, Egg Rock, Arid Canyon, and possibly the in-development levels (Dark City, and Grand Eggship)
6) The Final Demo Audio Message is also known as Meme material in the SRB2 Community (DID YOU GET ALL THE CHAOS EMERALDS?), becoming one of the most recurring jokes when they brought the Final Demo in discussions.
7) The original SRB1 Remake (from v2.0) was born as a Mod. I think this same thing could apply to the Super Mario levels, but i actually don't know that much of the game
8) To unlock ultimate mode, just type "ULTIMATE" in the menu
9) Alternative Soundtrack might also refer to a Mod done by CobaltBW (currently main composer since v2.2), called "SRB2 Soundtrack Remade" (done way before), and how it really sounded like a mix between 2.1 and 2.2, and how the major change, where the Special Stages music between this, and the updated 2.2 version. Tho, we might also wanna talk about the original soundtrack for the TGF era (the one included in the archives). And to how some song where changed over the time. For example, _Did you know that Egg Rock Zone originally had Orbital Hangar Zone music?_
10) Brack Eggman is also a reference to the fact this game is built in DOOM. The code of this boss is based in the Cyberdemon, which is referenced in Brack Eggman's code. (shoutouts to DylanDude)
11) 3D Models predate since the 2.1 era, thanks to the user "Low Poly", which created a rendering pack where you could use models in the game, also done for SRB2Kart. This became outdated, once 2.2 allowed an easier way to activate models in the OpenGL config.
Brack eggman... Can I use that?
I want to add on to the "OVA + SRB2 shared universe" tidbit, is that metal sonic has a subtle OVA reference whenever Metal dodges which is a reference to Hyper Metal Sonic's outline.
I've always ignored OLDC because whenever I read it, my mind goes "oh, they tagged this thing as 'old' so they probably don't want me to look at it"

So, about Sonikku, I don't think you know this but the reason why the artwork is bad in SRB1 is because Sonikku was in middle school when he made it, aside from "Earless Sonic", there is also a community nickname for Knuckles, that being "Plug-Hand Knuckles", meanwhile I also came up with the nickname "Sunglasses Robotnik" for SRB1 Eggman due to his glasses looking like sunglasses.
Oh, and about the secret stages in SRB2Xmas, I'll give you really easy to understand hints on where they are in case you don't know.
Emerald Coast: Have you ever considered turning around in Snow Valley (The level before Final Boss)?
Sonic's Nightmare: Look for a spring in the water after the second ramp in Emerald Coast.
Another fun fact, according to either the dev playthrough or the dev interview for the new SRB1 remake (I don't remember which one), Sonikku stated that Tails was cut from SRB1 due to having sprites so bad Sonikku just cut him out, plus in a readme file for SRB1 (the original one) Sonikku said that Knuckles also had a swimming animation that he hated so much, he also cut. The more you know I guess

I've heard what the soundtrack for Greenflower Zone used to sound like and I'm left thinking "Why is it so sad? It's only the first level. I haven't lost yet. Why does it sound like it?"

The MIDI option was what was used for music previously before the songs were remade in digital formats. You can change the synths used to alter the sound. In 2.2's original release, it still used the old MIDIs.
I remember when 2.2 released i went through the game again and seeing that dark souls reference got me really excited lol, however it actually is more than just the bonfire, the small structure its in and the stairway that leads to the entrance are part of the firelink shrine in dark souls 1, with the stairs leading to an elevator that takes you to the new londo ruins!

Anyone remembers the SRB2JTE Supervirus? I used to think that it was in the base game, and it creeped me out a bit. Then, I learned that it was in SRB2JTE, but I didn't really understand what that was. I thought that it was some kind of haunted version of SRB2.

Im highly surprised how the christmas mode wasnt mentioned for the 1.09.4 version. at Dec 25. both maps were converted into xmas theme.
Great stuff though I find it odd that Mystic Realm mod or easter eggs like SA City and Supervirus weren't included as they were quite popular at the time.
As a kid , the forums really put me off of srb2 because they were so unwelcoming and mean to everyone.
The game is great and I still enjoy it, but can’t really recommend the community/forums
MIDI music setting, plus that one Genesis soundfont (with virtualmidisynth or some shit to replace the general midi sounds) is so good
0:58 no, srb1 was not a Prequel, a prequel is something released after the original and details what happens before it. a better (and bland) way to put it would be like, the thingy before srb2 that nobody really talks about.
4:27 if you've ever done modding for srb2 you'll see that the actual name for the enemy is "stupid dumb unnamed robo fish". you can see it in slade or some builder. they probably couldn't think of a name so they just called it that
I think they were also called like that (stupid dumb) because originally it was almost really hard to get hit by them (with them only going up and down), so they didn't even know how to make them actually threatening enemies.
If you play the earlier versions you'll see that it's almost impossible to get hit by them so they're mostly decorative.

Portlegger CZcamsrs probably meant Sonic1983, another SRB2 youtuber. He made the unofficial SRB2 topdown port and everyone found out about it through Dokimoto, then Kart Krew banned him.

I used to believe that Ugly Knux was based off of a plushie that SSNTails had and made the bases of the sprites out of that like the typical fashion of photo shoots used for the assets in Doom, that would have been an interesting full-circle if it wasn't a 3D model but still fun to look at after all these years.
You probably wont see this, but there was a RVZ act 2 in some leaked Demo 2 lost stages, with custom music resembling the old theme. There was a very unfinished boss fight too, with a basic arena layout and solid coloured staircases, with non-functioning lava in the middle. Eggman isnt even there lol
Edit: With the MIDI option, you can set it to Native in settings, to make it sound like early Demo - Final Demo tracks.
And literally the entire game was in demo 2 lol

6:49 From a Video About The History and Future of SMS (Made by the creator them Self, GoldenShine) He Says that He posted the First ever version of SMS By in January of 2006 on the SRB2 Message board. Which could mean the Message boards have existed for more then 2009, possibly somewhere in the mid 2000s.
It existed since early 2000's (2003 I think.) I remember it existed back in 2005 when I first played the game.
Waybackmachine just doesn't go that far, most likely because of a change in the URL.

T-pose Amy is referring to an unused Amy sprie that is... well, her asserting her dominance. It can be found in Amy's sprite sheet.

Oh god, I remember sonicthedalek! Didnt he make a character wad series based on the enemies of SRB2? I recall one that when you taunt he would yell out "I WILL TEAR YOUR PRIDE AND JOY OUT FROM BETWEEN YOUR LEGS AND EAT IT WITH MY TEA-EEEE-EEEEE"... I miss those days, kind of.
Or maybe that was another person... its been an absolute age since my days of playing SRB2 back around...1.95 to 1.98?

The "Portlegger CZcamsrs" entry refers to youtubers who make and post portlegs of srb2 mods, one example of a portleg a portlegger youtuber posted being the "Modelos" pack, being a portleg of the High Poly models made by Jeck Jims made originally for 2.1 being portlegged to 2.2.
5:02 It's not just genesis style music, the sound of midi is pretty customizable and you can choose different sf2 files if you switch the midi player to fluidsynth on advanced sound settings though i wouldn't recommend using big sf2 files using this method, it only makes load times longer, what i recommend for larger sf2 files is if you're on windows is to install a program named VirtualMIDISynth, load your sf2 into it and on srb2's advanced spund options change the MIDI player to "Native", this is how i used to play a lot of the time using an sf2 named Arachno Soundfont, a lot of srb2 tracks sound good with it. Sadly my PC's PSU died and i haven't played much srb2 since aside from using the android port from time to time
Also if anyone's interested on how the music sounds with that arachno soundfont i have uploaded a few tracks on my channel

Srb2 destructive illusion is also deleted mod, but not that obscure to be featured in last layer, so i dont count it as lost mods. Even if it is obscure, this mod was loud in community when it released

most of these iceburg images throw in joke entries to mix into the almost-unresearchable entries towards the bottom, so some of these might legitimately not exist. Though NSFW addons is just kind of an inevitability for anything that allows mods even if there's not really much to find beyond that one that makes sky level enemies into anime girls.
