That part about Pingu's dad having violent outbursts; he may have been the angrier of the two parents, but Pingu's mom was the violent one. She hit him twice.
I still remember me and my little sister watching this together years ago. When she just up and slapped him my jaw dropped.
Almost every iceberg has a joke entry included to make it creepier, but ultimately is COMPLETELY made up. Sometimes they don’t even exist on media

I never thought I'd get to see a pingu iceberg, this made me remember the walrus episode, god whenever I watched it, I was a bit scared and I always hoped it wouldn't air on TV, glad i wasn't the only one who was scared of the walrus.
That episode gave me childhood trama
Yeah, but the walking bed was for some reason even creepier to me, looked like something straight out of a David Lynch movie.

pingu was also never really that popular of a source with ironic ytpers (the kind of ytpers that include people such as spigottan and obama comedy) and i never really understood why, until now. i guess the reason is because pingu attracts more logo kids than ironic ytpers. lol.

I'm surprised the korean dub of Pingu wasn't mentioned at all. It's such a weird thing. It's technically an english (broken english however) dub made in korea that was used to teach english to kids. Some of the script is so odd it loops back to being out-of-context hilarious.

I played on the Pingu website all the time as a kid. Even though I only had access to the show via the extras on The Wiggles DVDs I had, I liked Pingu. Penguins were my favorite animals as a kid.
I fondly remember the sledding and fish slap games, as well as a shoot-em-up style game where you threw snowballs at numerous characters around a glacier.
I used to collect Pingu books when I was younger. One of the first was about Pingu taking Robby with him to school and the birth of Pinga, his sister. And one of the two penguins staying home alone.
I have them too? Still intact and well conserved in one of my bedroom shelfs

I remember watching Pingu on netflix. I remember my last christmas spent with my Tia I would watch it on my mom's ipad 1, and rushing to go get my Chatster doll out of her wrapping paper. I felt sad when it was removed, and later felt the same when SamSam was removed. This gave me a bit of nostalgia looking at all the clips. I never saw the ytp's somehow...

Pingu was one of the surreal and absolutely bonkers shows that I watched as a small thing, and I tried making him out of plasticine, often ending up as a fever dream-like blob of nothingness. I am glad he’s getting more attention this year.

Amazing video, so nice to know people still remember pingu so fondly. Here's one more thing to add to the iceberg, there are multiple words from other languages spoken by characters in pingu, pinga at one point says "My Brother" in I think pingu goes to the hospital and i think there have been some spanish and japanese words sprinkled in there.
fun fact: most of the pingu audiobooks shown at 17:00 are actually in swiss german! i remember owning some when i was little. weird to think british people grew up thinking it was a british show, hahaha....

Worth mentioning the Ice Hockey episode (season 1, ep 13) where the outro music was redubbed, the original being 'Hand in Hand' by Koreana.
The original outro is still available on VHS versions and 1 youtube version of the episode.
8:57 there's a lot of words that sound like Italian swear words, and it's very likely because the original voice actor is Italian. This started a whole genre of Pingu episodes with misheard Italian subtitles ("Pingu sottotitolato") on CZcams in the early 2010s.

They may well be german, but as a Swiss, I can tell by reading the covers that they are in SWISS german, a dialect that is so different from German that it might as well be a new language and actual germans cannot understand us. Pingu was in my childhood loads, it's got some ways to really play on your emotions, that episode where they got lost in the ice cave, I felt so sad for them as a kid, I hated that episode but was so happy when they got out at the end, they had a really unique way to touch things, heartwarming

there has been one occasion where an episode has been banned in Finland. one of which I remember is the episode where Pingu doesn’t want to stay up late.
I couldn’t find any information of why this is banned, but one could assume that it encourages the younger audiences to stay up late, since the common bedtime is at 10pm.
I used to watch pingu on my crappy video player laptop thing, with old dvd’s that I would watch over and over again. I can only remember scenes and not actual episodes though.
I remember those portable DVD laptop things (I’m assuming that’s what you’re referring to). I used to watch those on car journeys to the seaside as a kid. Good times.
