Fun fact about that drawing for "Sonic the Human" the patch on his sleeve is actually a "section ID" insignia from Phantasy Star Online, which many members of Sonic Team also worked on.
In PSO when creating your character you'll get assigned a section ID based off the hex data of characters used to make your name and your section ID would actually influence the drop weights of certain weapon types and even have some drops be exclusive to certain IDs to encourage trading online. The one on "Sonic the Human" was Oran, which made daggers drop more often but rods rarer.

Here’s something I noticed while playing the game that you didn’t mention: the story you see in game is the character you’re playing telling their side of the story and not 100% what actually happened.
When tails and sonic run into knuckles for the first time in the story there are 3 different sets of dialogue and scenes for example. It’s slightly skewed in such a way that it implies this isn’t accurate to what happened as much as it’s whatever character you’re playing as telling you what happened and thus slightly skewed.
If you’re playing as sonic for this scene the dialogue has knuckles being confused and refusing to listen to sonic while tails is kinda irrelevant.
If you’re playing as Knuckles sonic and tails are a bit more antagonistic and knuckles wins the fight against sonic (lol, okay sure... ) and then fights Chaos 4 and beats him.
If you’re playing as Tails sonic doesn’t really say or do anything antagonistic to knuckles and knuckles is a bit more antagonistic and tails beats Chaos 4 instead.
All 3 yolo soloing the boss may seem like just a gameplay aspect that tosses the story out the window. But the slight dialogue changes in every shared scene and those changes being in a way that it’s biased to the point of view of which character you play as implies that these 6 stories aren’t what actually happened.
It’s 6 characters telling you what happened, and as people do when they tell a story, also either intentionally skewing a few details of not remembering them correctly.

Classic characters (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Eggman and Amy) can be seen in the Slot Machine in Casinopolis. For some reason they used Classic designs and not the Modern ones even though it's just pictures and not 3D models. So in conclusion Sonic Adventure contains the first appearance of Classic versions of the characters in a Modern Sonic game way before Sega seperated the two universes in Sonic Generations.
Also the other thing that is often missed is that the Sonic 3D Blast music that appears in the game is based on the Demo Takes for 3D Blast (which are basically MIDI versions of the music). Main theme for Twinkle Park for example is an unused song from these Demo Takes called "Bonus Knuckles".

I have another theory that _Sonic Adventure_ and _Sonic Adventure 2_ were inspired by _AKIRA._ The destruction of Station Square (by a blob monster no less) and its flooding is very reminiscent of how Neo-Tokyo looked as it was being destroyed. Shadow is a hidden military experiment hidden away in stasis accessible via a funicular tunnel like the manga's namesake and Dr. Eggman's english voice sounds similar to Colonel Shikishima's voice in the Streamline dub of the film.

A Note about the title card jingles; the Egg Carrier jingle is used in the final game during the Egg carrier transformation cutscenes. The Station Square jingle was used in a PC demo for Sonic Adventure DX. After completing any of the demo levels a screen would appear saying, "Thanks for playing, see you in the retail version!" The jingle would play over that screen.

To be Fair automated segments were the backbone of Sonic since the loop in Sonic 1 and the automated segments could be messed with in the original adventure game just like they could in Sonic 1.
I agree that the level of On-Rails experience we have now is outrageous but big spectacle moments in at least one or two stages that only last 5% of the stage itself are enjoyable to see and it's really honestly hard to agree that the game would be better without them.
Regardless none of this has to do with my snarky crap comment, the thing I was describing was my frustration with people KNOWING something won't work and complaining about it only to pretend like they never knew doing the thing they complained about not working, shockingly, doesn't work.
