So I bought the XDJ-XZ mostly to get accustomed to the Pioneer gear after not playing in clubs for a few years. I had played on the old CDJ2000's back in the day and was all of the sudden booked to gig half way across the world for four days traight and each stage would have Pioneer CDJ 3000's and DJM mixers. The XDJ-XZ really helped to get me prepared for those sets, I used record box to export to USB just like I would do at the gigs, I practiced at home, and created playlists with cue points. And then flew to Italy and had the most amazing four sets in years because I was prepared. To be honest, I loved the CDJ3000's and the DJM at the event, but I secretly missed my XDJ-XZ while playing out. But really they are very similar if you can get comfortable on the XDJ-XZ you can easily play at a club with Nexus setup.

Thank you Jonathan for the comparison and analogy. I always enjoy your analogies. The XZ is for me because I can sell my Nexus 2 kit (CDJs & DJM) and my DDJ 1000 SRT while they have some value, purchase the XZ and put some money in my pocket. Still have a lot of the functionality within RB and Serato (once it’s Serato capability). You also reminded me that my lease is up and it’s time to upgrade to an SUV. Ha cheers.
Great analogy. One thing not mentioned in this video is the jog wheels. The XZ has full size MECHANICAL jog wheels. The other 2 models are CAPACITIVE. Not a problem for some. But if you are use to using Nexus setups and scratch with that vinyl feel the XZ is better
I've been DJ'ing years, had many pairs of turntables, gemini, technics.. I do it as a hobby though, I just like messing around with music. Currently, I've got a Traktor S2 MK3 controller and I find I'm quite limited with it. So I see the XDJ RX2 as a perfect upgrade, plus you can rock up to any beach party and slam it out from the back of your car! 🙌

Now, I bought a new Xdj-rx2 and after four days of use my experience was a little bit disappointing. For that reason I, m going to change my machine for the xz.
But in conclusion, the rx it's old fashioned (even through it's a Mini) , and the TT and the big car for my off roads trips can do the same because I love the trail running.
A tip, put battery in your watch, can be useful.

This video helped me pick the RX2 over the RX1, I thought about getting the XZ, but I think it's a little too big, and out of my skill set, even though I would love to try mixing with 4 channels one day

Can you not scan any files on the unit? Also if you make fresh cue point on unit does it save/update for next time?
I mix progressive house and melodic techno and my ddj400 does the job.but I am going to upgrade to do streaming vids and just to progress abit.but although I like the big big brother and would probably buy it.i don’t need half of what’s on it
The original RX had the lan port tho. Silly move to remove it from the rx2

With brexit now in full effect will the price of pioneer kit go up in the UK, I currently use the ddj 800 which is the controller version of these standalone systems.
Used to own the original RX and it was a brill standalone device.
Would love to see Pioneer bring out its own version of the denon prime 4 now that would be an awesome piece of kit.
Plus the xz is a two way street serato and recordbox.

i think you have missed an important point. a lot of us are club djs not mobile dj's. i have the XZ because its layout and feel resembles what most clubs have, (nxs 2000's and a 900 mixer) more than any other controller.
Ellaskins please tell me if you think that there will be an updated XZ coming out in the near future say perhaps with an updated screen that is similar to the Prime 4? Thank you .

I wanted to ask you since making this video, What is your opinion on the DDJ-XZ now. I ask this Because I recently purchased the XZ now 4 months; but do to moving to Hawaii I have yet to set it up till now; "literally pulled it out the box last week ". I've seen many demonstrate techno; but I have yet seen anyone demonstrate it playing hip-hop.

I should have watched this video before I bought the RR. Not a big deal though, I returned the unit with full refund. The RR looks nice, but it feels bad, like plastic. Now I want to get the XZ, but I see it will take some patience delivery wise...

@@ellaskins Can agree. I picked up the RR recently and was very dissapointed with everything, so returned it after 3 days.. Not so sure if I want to upgrade to the XZ as of yet.. Getting a full set of gear (CDJs&mixer) I could afford, but I like the idea of a compact all in one..
I love my xdj rr i only used it at home im afraid to take it out side might break its little bit made on cheap side for what i pay for.

@ellaskins Have you noticed any difference in sound quality? I've been using xdj-rx2 since the release and it sounds great. A few days ago my friend bought xdj-rr and we used it as the main mixer in my residency club. Xdj-rr sounded terrible. You can compare it to playing mp3 128kbps when we used only 320’s. Can You make some sound compare video and tell something about your feelings?
to a good ear you can notice the difference, BUT with loud vol in a club the general member of public would have no idea if you had a top bit of kit or low end

Just stay away from the Denon prime 4
“OMG” sooooo many software issues its mental BUT... works great with Serato dj ( but... who bought it for that!) I tell ya it reminds me of the Stanton sc4 (“but bigger) Now.. I’m lookin into the XZ for the prime4 replacement “because of course I took back”) BUT... how is the Serato transfer to the XZ ? will save all cues.. loops....crates built in Serato recordbox etc If so make a video on how to do that, but the only gripe I have with the XZ is that it is so massively big.
I'm using the prime 4 for about half a year now, and, tbh, i couldnt be happier. For me, its the best i couldve gotten. The only weak point, if you ask me, is engine prime. but apart from that, i dont see why someone should 'Stay away from the prime 4'

I think that most people are a bit unsecured of picking up the XDJ-XZ because they are afraid that it ‘ll be a waste of money for what they use it for
It seems like.. if the beginner-grade DDJ-400, had a screen & usb ports (and some more outputs).. it would be a better buy than the RR

The problem with the analogy, you are not going to turn up and play at a top club such as Ministry or Amnesia with one of these. They will have a full setup already, it will look and feel like RX2/3 or XZ and nobody is going to want you to plug in another unit. For that reason, I'm not so sure what the XZ is for - probably home use for a DJ who is out playing decent clubs most of the time?

Ellaskins, of Jonathan I have a question about the XDj-XZ‘s Quality over Time.
Personal background:
I have My First unit replaced due to an fault y USB A Port, the Right One for the Recording. The port was broken only after a Couple weeks of light use!
So i recieved max Second completely new Unit.
Yesterday, my legt Jog-Adjust knob just fell apart in my hands! I used it 2 of three times, Right in the beginning of the XZ’s Life cycle!!
Wtf....
So my question is:
What do you think about the quality of the Unit in general.
Is it only a personal problem of mine, or could it be that the whole XZ unit could be of lesser quality, than for example an CDj 2000 NXS, or other pioneer products.

RX2 has capacitive jogwheels while the XZ has mechanical jogwheels - Is this really a downside? Does it make a big difference?
Only if you have used actual CDJs, feels different
I know they aren’t but they look like toys compared to a pair 12’s and a decent mixer.
