  • Welcome to our brand new gear battle between the XDJ-RR versus the XDJ-RX2. The XDJ-RR is Pioneer DJ's latest Stand-alone DJ set that's got a layout which is very similar to the big 2000NXS2 Setup. The XDJ-RX2 has the looks as well, but it's his bigger brother. What's the best choice for you and is it worth it to spend more money on the XDJ-RX2?
We provide lessons on the XDJ-RR and XDJ-RX2 as well, for more info check out our website: www.djschoolamsterdam.nl
We get all our gear at Tonecontrol and we have a discount for our students at this store. Hereby the link: www.tonecontrol.nl

These days something like the XDJ-RR would have been light years ahead in DJ technology when I started DJing in 1991 with a pair of technics and a cheap numark mixer. I feel that the XDJ-RR is more than enough for proper DJing even in today's standards. You can mix and scratch properly with the RR plus add few FXs to the mix without overdoing it. In a way it is a blessing to have less than more. That way you can focus on the skills that really matter. My vote goes for the RR. In fact, I have one on order.

The biggest thing for me as a old Dj was being able to add a 1210 to the system to still play old vinyl as well I nearly made the mistake of going for the cheaper option the RR and not being able to connect a deck to it like the RX2

Thanks for a good and complete review.
Your point with the touch screen is an important detail, but not the one about the 4 pads. Since most everyday DJs only need the 4 pads.
I think it is important, given the "big" price difference on the two units, that you have to settle for yourself what needs you have and then decide whether those needs meet the extra money.
    I have an XDJ-rx 1 myself and consider an XDJ-rr, but let's see ..

    Great simple comparison

I got the rr I can live with the features it’s missing to the rx2 still a solid piece of kit
Plus you missed out one very important point the rr is much lighter and smaller and that makes it easy to carry around
Now this depends on how you want to use it but for me it was a win considering the price as well

Another important pointer for me if doing support shows is that I might pay with the clubs own mixer and only bring an usb, then the RX-2 is more closer in terms of effects and everything!
I do understand the portability of the RR but I go to the gym now so for me it's a no brainer!

I just got a second hand XDJ RX - it's got a lot of the RX2 functions that the RR doesn't. You're looking at £800 for a good condition RX, max - I got mine for £700. Compared with an RR new at £1050 and the RX2 at £1500 (although I've seen it on sale for £1259). I had to really toss up between the RX and the RX2 but the main real difference for me was the touchscreen, and if you manage your playlists well this is no deal breaker. Cheers for the review though guys, made me realise I definitely made the right decision avoiding the RR. The XDJ is all you need to play out. Stand alone is the way forward for regular DJing. Plus at home I can plug my decks in and effectively have a DJM 600 with digital add on. Watch this space!
But please tell me if there is a flaw in this plan? What are your thoughts on the XDJ RX? Maybe you should add it in or mention it in your review?

Aside of the booth input and slightly larger jog wheel, wouldn't buying the DDJ XP1 for the XDJ RR be a lot better and cheaper than buying the XDJ RX2? Thoughts?...

    • @positiefperspectief-roelan793
      @positiefperspectief-roelan793 Před 5 lety

Hi Luis, the DDJ XP1 is more a add-on controller for effects, it is really a different kind of product. We always look at products that resemble the workflow of the professional sets you find in the clubs, mainly the CDJ-2000NXS2.

Hello James, during the testing we didn't hear a significant difference in sound quality.
