Used the version 1 for 2 years, been using the rx2 for a year now. Must say that pioneer is killing it with this series. When i get in front of a club standart setup i feel totally at home. Sound/build quality is awesome as well. And in my opinion the price is amazing to what you actually get.

I’ve never had the waveform problem you mention. Mines always bang on point and never has drifted away from the other. A lot of videos on the rx2 suggest a firmware update but I’ve never done one as it works the same as the 1st day I bought it nothing has changed in 3 years so I’ll never update it. Same with rekordbox I won’t update it because it’s never had any problems but I’ve noticed people start getting problems when they start updating it so I’ve never done it and always works 100%
I have owned the RX2 for about 6 months and I'm very happy with it. The feel and finish of the RX2 is significantly better than the DDJ-1000 and high quality. Who controls the device, do not need 4 channels
I agree with the quality however that doesn't make it better as DDJ-1000. Functions, jog wheels, effects, channels, etc are much more and better than RX2. Creativity is limited with RX2.

They had an Rx1 at a club I played at last month, it's super tight. Popped my usb out of cdj 900s and straight into it no prob. I was considering getting it but I like to have 4 channels.

This is the way I expect the new djm s9 will be. With the same size of screen and rekordbox inside. That way you'll plug your turntable with your uncoded vinyl or you cdj and done.... That will be killer stuff. What do you think?

Is it possible to record a mix from the XDJ RX2 to a computer software like audacity using the digital usb cable as an output. I have tried and installed all drivers, but audicity does not recognize it as an input. Help please

The only thing missing is a samp!er mode for djs like myself who likes to trigger samples and dj drops but still a very good controller

When using performance mode (to be able to use FLAC files on RX2, which isn't possible on standalone mode...), are there any limitations as to RX2's onboard functionalities/buttons compared to standalone mode? I'm specifically interested in finding out whether editing hotcues and memory cues/loops via RX2 hardware buttons in performance mode would actually update the files on my laptop accordingly (vs. pulling files from laptop in "read-only" fashion and not being able to edit them on RX2).
Great review. Being a long time owner of The furst XDJ-RX,I don't feel a need to buy this RX2 as the incremental functions are less worth to the price gap I have to fill. I would prefer to get a pair of XDJ-1000 and a proper mixer like DJM-750 Mark2,
Why not a DDJ1000 + 2 XDJ1000, basically same setup but with a controller attached to the mixer for a full 4 deck control for the same price granted you also use a laptop with it. But the mixer is a standalone unit as well with built in effects that are also on the 750MKII, also it can use DVS apparently

You should have mentioned the fact that when you use Recordbox DJ with a laptop, this XDJ-RX2 will play flac and apple lossless files. @DJcityTV
Have the xdj-700s and the DJM-450 and I'm wondering why I spent so much more on it vs this. Extra screen?

Mac Joseph Oh cmon everything cpu/chipset powered can crash and fail. Even cdjs can fail. Chances of them failing are quite slim but so are the laptops only if you use it for djing only.
I've had the rx1 fail on me... As well as I've had usbs corrupted when using cdjs. Laptop is yet to fail me.
Things can always go wrong when djing. Don’t think that just because you have the luxury of removing a laptop that makes you a better/real dj. Most djs have the absolute wrong attitude about using a laptop when djing. When you know your music it is an absolute benefit to have a laptop in your arsenal. Putting a screen on a cdj or a controller is the same thing, but actually utilizes less of the benefits of using a laptop.
Eugene Baek the laptop should be used but just know there is more maintenance. Virus, freeze and crashes. Rx2 is a fast set up. You are playing music in 30 secs!! But a computer has the advantage of downloading music online and using a midi for drum machines. Other than that computer isn’t stable enough to be my only source of music.
Daz Man true. But computers fail and being professional I can’t have that room for error. I love tables too but I can serve my crowd if the computer is acting up that day. The faster you can serve your customers the better
Yoo, DJ CoolHand here for those wanting Hamster Style. Just figured out the only work around. If you plug in your laptop and use MIDI mode you can reverse the crossfader into Hamster Style.
>Plug in USB Cable and click MIDI
>Put Rekordbox into Performance Mode
>Open Mixer in Rekordbox
>Click 1/3 on Channel B (Right Side) and 2/4 on Channel A (Left Side)

PS Don't even bother opening it up to try to physically reverse the controller. Doesn't work because of the fader's casing. MIDI Mode is the only work around!

One thing I miss on the RX2 is the effects EQ. Love that i can press a button and the effects doesn't affect the chosen area of frequencies!
Sadly RX2 does not have this feature. Only a regular mixer has it.
The two waveforms playing "catch up" with one another is not an error. If one track is originally a lower BPM than the other, there will be longer intervals between the beats on the absolute timeline both tracks are displayed at, but if the tracks are set to the same BPM and synced up, the beats will hit the middle white line at the same time. Thus giving the appearance that the slower track is catching up to the faster one.

7:25 is there a way to program these pads or do they just have 2 modes? the two modes being stand alone mode where the selectors do what they say and the second being when its in midi mode connected to a computer the beat jump is unrecognized at all and beat loop is now sfx buttons. is this normal? can this be changed in either mode?
pioneer make great kit, got lots of it, but only thing I don't like is their digital pitch faders example plx1000 turntable , never liked their pitch, maybe coz I'm use to technics analog pitch faders, same with lot of their Dj kit, digital pitch fader, I think pioneer focus on performance Dj over mixing club DJs, I would like better pitch in future for mixing club DJs
Go and buy one and then save some money and buy some decks to plug into the back the best of both worlds nice kit.
is there any reason to pick this over the denon dj prime 4? It seems like the prime 4 killed the purpose of this unit.
I haven't used any denon products, so I can't comment on how well it operates. But I would say the benefit of pioneer is the assurance that you have a quality controller. Pioneer are the leaders in digital Djing and most products not made by them are usually Inspired or copied. The prime 4 to me looks like a cheap copy of the rx2.
As well as this, moving from the rx2 to club standard cdjs (which is almost always pioneer) maybe more intuitive, rather than from the denon, which will have a different build and interface.
However, I can see how the denon maybe more tempting. The 4 channel mixer is what really sells it. I have an rx2 and would love to be able to plug my turntables into it and use it as a 4 channel set up. But for me the quality of the pioneer product is what puts it above other controllers.
It would look better if it had three screens one for each deck and the centre screen for track browsing and loading and slicer mode on pads.
Some people are never happy. Typical things a DJ using Serato would say when they are scared to move over to Recordbox.
I would like to move over to rekordbox least it comes bundled with lower end pioneer controllers not like serato you get serato light.some of rekordbox controllers have the thumb drive option so you don't have to use a laptop.thats what like bout it.same ad the denon engine prime with the mcx8000

Click the shortcut button (the one over the load to deck 2 button) then you can change the Waveform color
No Flac support is basically a deal breaker for me. It's the format that doesn't compromise on sound quality while still containing all the handy extra data information that the MP3 format offers.

Go with the XDJ's if you have the money, I have a pair of XDJ-1000 (mk1) and they're amazing! I can't be so happy with them, also I have them paired with a DJM-850 and I honestly love my setup :)
My one and only gripe with this controller is that you can’t switch between *Time remaning* and *Time elapsed* on each deck.

If you hold shift on the deck you want to switch and hit the time remaining button it will change on only one deck. Works for auto hot cue as well
I brought this unit. My next gripe is the laptop do I go and buy a expressive laptop or do I buy cheaper what's the best tip for to use for rx2. I'm deffintely up for a laptop that can run the services and I be a happy bunny

Just don't see why anyone would buy this instead of the ddj 1000, considering its much more expensive and you get two less channels. I guess using it without a laptop is a draw but that doesn't justify it for me
Harvey Clinton depends on your choice of play, software or hardware. The 1000 is a controller but the rx is a full hardware unit with a built-in mixer.

I totally agree with you man. I mean almost 2000 dollars for a 2 deck controller? Just get a good laptop on which you can produce good shits and incorporate it in your sets while still having the choi ce to use any mixing software.
+Harvey Clinton In my Experience you shouldn't buy an DDJ 1000, because of it's lack of quality! There is one for sure, because of it's relativ low price. 4 Decks and upgraded Jogs for just 200$ more? (Compared to the DDJ RX) Where did Pioneer got that little price? Right, build quality! And I testet them in Germany at the Musikmesse Frankfurt at the Pioneer DJ Booth and was highly disappointed by the quality of the DDJ 1000. It's definitely NOT made for the road! So please get yourself an DDJ RX, an DDJ RZ or an XDJ RX, because these units don't have an issue with their quality! Cheers!

Yes and no. Screens on 1000 are nowhere as detailed and no stand alone playback unless you buy external players. Great controller with a 750mk2 mixer built in for the price

Charles-André Richard I have a laptop but it’s shit. I bought the rx2 for €1450 with a free case (the one at the beginning of the vid). So buying a better laptop and the ddj 1000 would make it more expensive for me. But I understand you, the ddj1000 has some better features and if you just want it for in your room with a laptop then the ddj 1000 is nice. But if you just want to insert your usb and start playing then I would say the rx2. It’s also easier at party’s and you get use to the menu of the cdjs. I think that it’s personal preference. If the rx2 didn’t exist I would have definitely bought the ddj1000

Not only you can produce your own shit and incorporate it in your sets, but you can also use any mixing software you want. The Rx2 would have been perfect if it had 4 channels. With 2 decks its basically a 500$ controller with a screen. The DDJ 1000 also allows you to do B2B which I think is an awesome plus.
@@charles-andrerichard491 well to start off, is basically a nexus player with a djm 450 for the mixer. 1 cdj nexus2 is 2+ grand.
Secondly I have a laptop thats powerful, but I use my rx2 in standalone because I prefer the display and how much more simple it is to find stuff so quickly. Also keeps my laptop free for livestreams or video recording without interference of dj software running

over priced , a lot of wasted space that could be used to make extra functionality or make the jog wheels bigger , not all in one as it misses flac format , if they really want to make an all in one controller they should make a hard disk build-in so u don't need the laptop and it will hold the software and your music collection in it lets say around 1tera as a start
