I like the old one have Lan port and new one don't. In new one I like the Rca Aux input with independent volume, and both mic inputs are XLR. In old model have a trs and a XLR input, and if I want to have one iPod connected for backup I have to use 2 jack adapter and connect 2 cables for both line input and now don't need. Can use aux line input.
You're one of the reasons I bought my RX OPAZ, After many reviews I watched on here I went ahead and bought one after watching this. Best thing I ever done. I wouldn't upgrade to the RX2 though, I'm very happy with my RX, amazing machine. I recommend to anyone who was like me just getting into DJ'ing and never had a controller, well tell a lie I had the mixtrack pro II before I got the XDJ-RX, but I'd get the first edition if you're on a budget, its a few hundred quid more for the RX2 but..... nah..... definitely the RX in my opinion, not many changes really on the RX2, few things to keep the customers coming back to spend money, think that's why the haven't made the DDJ-RZX a standalone, I'd LOVE THAT MACHINE!! Good video man
Hi thx for the video... please tell me can you connect a portable hhd 1tb to the usb with your music in or only usb stick pen drive in this controller?
The controller accepts 10,000 (max recommended) Rekordbox analyzed playlist songs in each USB slot so you'll only need 128gb flash drives - no need for a portable HDD
Long time user of cdjs and now im looking for something new as i dont have working cd decks anymore :/ .Reason im not 100% sure is im oldschool and i like cds,for safety. But i also used usb with my cdj2000 when i had them. Is the Rx2 preffered over rr2? now i need to see a selling vid of the rx2 :)
I know where you're coming from Jack. I recommend the RX2. Good machine, I've had no problems at all with USB's. Good files are bulletproof on good trusted media. Make sure the files are on quality drives and you'll be fine
MY PIONEER XDJ RX2 REVIEW After years of usage of my beloved RX1 decided to upgrade an RX2 lightly after that was released. I was very excited about the new model, even if that looked almost identical to the previous one. Some background of me, i started dj-ing on vinyl, then went to CDJs. I had several Pioneer models during the years, including XDJs, CDJ 2000s and DJM800, but for my needs i found the Pioneer XDJ RX1 the most suitable. (i also owned other brands but always preferred Pioneer in the dj booth.) So, i am not gonna lie, didn’t like the RX2… If you ever had a RX1 and used it (an loved it) i really not recommend to get an RX2. It’s not gonna worth it for you and due to the new tweaks (listed in my cons below) you will probably end up selling it and going back to the RX1. You might like the RX2 if you never had a RX before, but i found this new model unnecessary and very expensive. Pioneer changed a few things which they shouldn’t do and not in the good way. Now, after a few months of home and gig usage i sold my RX2 and went back to the RX1 instead. I am not saying that you should do the same, but maybe consider this review if you about to upgrade. Pro: ---- - Better, larger (heavier) and more “CDJ-feel” jog wheels - Looks a bit more pro and serious than the RX1 - Slightly accurate track CUE-ing Cons: ----- - Expensive. - The “touch” screen is a gimmick. Only operates needle search and QWERTY keyboard, so don’t expect more and feels “dated” comparing to the cheapest touchscreen iPhone. It’s more like a car navigation system. - Re-arranged knob layout is annoying around the headphone CUE selector - Crowded and busy layout comparing to the RX1 - Track navigation knob/buttons needs some time to get use to after the RX1 - I wasn’t a big fun of the big effect knobs either. - Non-clicking performance pads are easy to touch accidentally. They should have some light feedback/response. - Sound quality is less pronounced and punchy for both output and sound records. It do sounds more “open” and has a wider sound stage, but this can be an issue if you really want to concentrate on beat-matching for example. Some notes will get lost easily and this could be even worst if you are in a very noisy club environment… (or just add less accurate headphone and you probably won’t be able to beatmach tracks manually… :S - Occasional problems with the touch screen. This is a known issue. (Needed to restart or re-calibrate.) - Not a real weakness, but little larger (in height) so you won’t able to use either your RX1 flight case or decksaver cover
there are some pros though: - track navigations is on par with 2000NX2 series - so if you're used to that, you'll fell at home in any club (as 99% of them nowadays use pioneer gear) - touch screen is exactly the same as on 2000NX2... the only player with "modern" multy-touch display is Denon's one - there is a "matching tracks" feature, as in NX2. it's really a nice addition to the digital djing (and often times overloocked by a lot of reviewers) - with enough preparation you can "freestyle" dj (no prepared tracklist) with perfect sounding mixes for me, "matching tracks" alone is the reason why you should choose RX2... I'd buy XDJ-700 if it had one, but no mk2 with this feature was released unfortunately but buying RX2 when you've already have a RX1 is an overkill, yes. not worth it. but if you have a choice which one to buy - go with RX2.
To me most annoying thing was the "tuned" sound quality. I do a lot manual beat matching so don't really rely on auto bmp counter and don't use sync either. The RX1 has a nice punchy mid bass which somehow missing on the RX2. It still sounds good, but made beat-matching more difficult and sound quality less pronounced. Pioneer also applies this this muted mid bass “trick” on almost all HDJ headphones. (C70, HDJ 2000MK2, X7, X10 maybe the HDJ 2000 MK1 is an exemption). Not sure why they do that… Maybe it's a trend. :D Good comparison review by the way! :)
I'm surprised Zoltan that you stuck with Pioneer having had a vinyl background. It seems that many vinyl dj's head the Numark direction, especially with the motorised platters. I'd be interested to know why you choose Pioneer.
Well.... i started djing on vinyls (playing mainly house music and still have hundreds of records) but switched to CDJs and never went back again. Thought i had a Numark NS7 II last year, which was "interesting", but due to reliability issues i stopped using dj controllers. (Even Pioneer ones...) I guess maybe spent to much time on CDJs and Pioneer gear and after that it's hard to get use to anything else. But for example would love to try the new Denon DJ SC5000. :) ...or else maybe Denon should do an all-in-one controller. Something similar to the Pioneer XDJ-RX, but 4 channels, 2x proper touch screens, full size jog wheels... hmmm... That would be the heaven! :)
Flash drives only through surface slots or yes if your ex hard drive has a usb connection for slots. Check as there may be an upper limit capacity for drives that can be used
The sound on the RX2 is great. I've never used the DDJ-SX2 so can't comment. I think you will be the one to judge whether XDJ-RX2 is better, after a demo. From Serato to Rekordbox, 4 Channels to 2 it's a huge difference for some to consider.
Are you also experiencing the RX2 beatjump bug? I made a video showing the issue but havn't been able to fully confirm if it's just my unit or not and Pioneer forum passed it along to the engineers but i havn't heard back in a long time
Watched your video briefly. I haven't had any issues as yet using the button. Will inform you if i have any. What exactly is happening and is it all the time?
thanks for your response! Unfortunately happens all the time with beatjump and have tried everything and it still happens :/ basically both decks are synced and you beatjump 4 or 8 beats forwards or backwards, and after tapping it for a little period of time to jump through the track, it ends up off by 1 beat, as if it did a 5 bar jump instead of 4, or a 9 bar jump instead of 8 if that makes sense. If you could test that out for me I would be very grateful! If it is only my unit then I can just exchange it
thanks man I owe ya one! appreciate it a ton this will help me a lot cause I can figure out if I have a defective unit or if it's a bug within the unit itself, Pioneer (even direct support) has not been able to confirm that and I am getting close to the 30 day return policy threshold from the vendor. Thanks again bud
Thanks again for the response, very true and I can mix easily without sync or beatjump but when I use them I can focus on other stuff besides gettin the grids lined up and keeping in phrase and everything, I've never seen any issues like this with sync or beatjump with CDJnxs2's or other software like Traktor for example. And before contacting Pioneer I tried several USBs, exported from a mac and tried exporting from my PC, all constant bitrate WAV and MP3 files from Beatport and all the grids have been corrected. The issue appears to be a timing issue where it believes (for example) 4 bars at 120bpm is 0.xxx seconds, when really it is off by just a hair. You can watch the short vid on my channel called XDJ-RX2 beatjump bug pt 2 to see that this issue happens with, or without sync on and also happens with simple 4 bar and 8 bar loops :/ only thing I havn't confirmed is if I am the only one experiencing it, and I only have 3 more days til the 30 day return policy is up so hoping I can find out if it's defective before then
Starting to dj, RX is a great introduction (keeping costs low) you'll pick up a bargain. RX2 if you want to buy once and benefit on the extras when you develop your skills. Even if later on you realise dj'ing is not for you, you can get good resale value on both Hope this helps
Exactly ... you said it! ... YOU work hard ... YOU want a hobby .. YOU want to get a RX2 ... c'mon Tom ... The next message i want you to send me is that you have just ordered your controller ... or show this message to your missus ... Deal?
dont let a jealous girlfriend stop you from being who you want to be and doing what you want to do. a woman will never sacrifice what they enjoy for a man unless there's financial or ego gain. be a man and buy what the fuck you like mate !
Great question Alberto. In that situation, i would go for the more expensive new RX2. I feel the extras justify the decision. Once you use them, it's hard to live without.
OPAZ OPAZ hmm fair enough. But im in that situation right now and I dont have much of a budget. I do have the money for the RX2 but i find it too expensive. Right now I have a pair of Akiyama CDjs and a mixer, but nothing fancy, maybe just 200€ worth of equipment. They are old af. So i was thinking into getting to another level of mixin and trying to go professionaly on this Dj world, but since I dont know if I will succeed I dont feel like paying much for that starting equipment. That being said I really trust your choosing criteria, as you showed in your videos. Im really concerned about this decission cause im at university right now and every cent counts. Im willing to pay if necessary but I cant really tell which one to choose. Other thing I want to know is the reselling price of this stuff like on 1 year or 2 how much could I sell each for? In case I wanna stop djing or upgrade for a higher standart. Thank you very much, your help is really apreciated!
It's great having high expectations Alberto as absolutely anybody could be the next big Dj and it shows your passion. Be careful not to let the high expectations overtake the passion. I am a believer in buy once. Have you thought of cheaper Serato or VDJ based options?. If you considered the RX you'd at some point be envious of the updated extras on the new RX2 which will take your performance to another level. With the RX2 you won't need to worry about resale if you think you've made the wrong decision - Dj'ing, study or paying the bills. The RX2 is current and will certainly fetch good €'s. You sound sensible, think about this as your studies and your cashflow while studying is so important. Good luck

cool stuff, I remember your video a couple years ago..
Seems like yesterday ... nice to hear you've returned
It's worth every penny - best upgrade I ever made!

Are you intrested in selling the RX 1?

If i never needed a decent backup, i too would stick with my RX
Hey, can I ask if Pioneer have improved the mic channel from say the DDJ SX (which I have and is appalling at high levels)?
I've never used an SX and never had any experience of poor mic performance on both RX models
Good Man! :D
Could someone help me, if they know how tall it is with the screen
Lookin gat the RR, man they really mascaraed my boy
Pro tip : watch movies on flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Felix Jonas Yea, I've been using Flixzone for years myself =)
One review mentioned the new jogs are tighter, so back spins are no longer possible?
Backspins and scratching are all still possible on the RX2, no difference from the RX
I have been interested in djing and the way it works since when i first seen them , but just gathering my money to buy one of them
Lots of info to get anyone started these days, best of luck

Rock Solid. No issues whatsoever!

Which one should I buy? 🤔😑
I recommend the RX2
This controller looks to me like an ancer to the mighty Dennon 5000 ..the made it with out much of thought, just to keep it up. I don't think they do much of a noise with that one, we already saw the game changer..it was the original RX couple of years a go..
My initial thoughts too niko
Hi! The sound Quality is better in rx2 or not ?
Long while ago now, can't remember sorry
Ok thanks!
do they sound the same?
Yes
Fell asleep, what was outcome
😆
it doesn't have an ethernet port How can I sync the dd j 1000 sampler with this player
Yes Tony as with the original RX. I expect because the RX2 was also intended for stand-alone use, therfore the the lack of a port for expansion.
The problem I have with these controller the jog weel are too small
Do you like more (XDJ RX) or (XDJ RX2)?
Very good question Paulo. I have been considering this since the upload. The RX does all you will ever need and i have absolutely no complaints. I prefer the four performance pad operation on the RX, simply because you can feel when you've pressed them. The touch screen extras, beat jump/slip loop etc are difficult not to get addicted to, till you find you can't do without these. I don't really even welcome the new extra AUX control on the 2 but i see its uses. Pioneer have just done enough in my opinion, scraped through to win me over with the RX2. They could have done much more but they've just done enough
In my opinion I think that when Pioneer does the (XDJ RX3) the differences will be many and maybe it has four channels. I have the (XDJ RX) and I think I will not change.
They won't produce a model with four channels it would price poeple out
I totally agree. Pioneer have a unique product here and I expect it will stay 2 channels. There is a lot of extra space there now for bigger jog wheels & BEAT SLICER/SIDECHAINE on the mixer in a couple of years time
Regarding the LCD do you think the (XDJ RX) has more definition and more brightness than the (XDJ RX2)?
you get a lot more air with rx2 :D
rx touch screen
when the RX3 comes out it will have 3 channels
I think Pioneer will tease with more FX. Touch screen on the mixer with Beat Slicer, Sidechain etc etc
will be a long while until a rx3 so just forget about it...
Talk about nitpicky, get over it, sell the 2 and just use your 1 then.
Xdj rx2 is mappable to traktor
Hey I use Traktor and am interested in RX2, does it work okay?!
Could you talk any slower??
😂
