    In this Head To Head feature we're pitting the Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX2 against the XDJ-RR. Both are two-channel standalone devices for Rekordbox, meaning you can spin using just a USB thumb drive that has all your music exported from Rekordbox, and you can also connect them to your laptop for spinning with Rekordbox DJ.

    I prefered going for the RR specially the mobility for my gigs in private events and plug and play at bars (moving lights, speakers and a +7,7 kg gear is a pain in the ass)... Anyways just the fact of having an all in one system make you look very very professional to common folk and will grab someone's eye for sure... and in my case makes me look as a better option for potential costumers❤

  • @LioSintra
    @LioSintra Před 5 lety +4

    I don't ask a 4 channel stand alone controller but at least a 2 channel and a 1 external line input with independent volume to use with an external cdj at the same time I work with other 2. Those two external line input of XDJ RX2 don't satisfy my needs. For exemple if I use right line and have an external cdj connected to the same line I can't use it when I want... Must play a track on left deck first and then use external cdj. They should have at least one external line with independent control. Like a controller with 3 channel mixer. I don't know if I am expressing myself in right way.

    If your starting out as newbie and you have a tidy some.of cash then the rx2 would be ok but if your needing a laptop as well the rr will be good point to start from.or if you ain't got much cash and you need a laptop and a controller I go for the ddj400 1st.

  • @soundbycloud
    @soundbycloud Před 5 lety

    I have owned the MCX for about a year now and I'm pretty sure I'm in a good enough position to give my opinion.
    I honestly prefer the MCX over both these two systems just for 4 things...
    ================================
    1: Can switch between Serato/Engine seamlessly or can use 2 channels for engine and 2 channels for Serato at the same time (It's what I personally use).
    2: More channels, which gives me the chance to show up on clubs and connect their CDJs with DVS.
    3: Bright asf screens.
    4: It's construction is metal.
    ================================
    Now someone may not like the MCX for the following reasons.
    ================================
    1: The screens are seperated, which makes things WAY harder for people who cannot Beat Match by ear (Not my case).
    2: You cannot scratch easily as on for example an RX or an RZ which those have controls for the Jogwheel, but once you get used to it you can create some amazing scratching performances.
    3: Most people that are Pioneer users and use CDJs may not like the engine standalone and how it works
    4: Hasn't got a touch screen, which to be honest I don't mind on the MCX which I am more of a knob guy.
    ================================
    I'm open to a discussion and other opinions

    Hi Joey - watching your videos - it helped me decided so I went ahead and purchased the RX2 version. Thank you - your explanations are the best !
    While I'm happy with the effects - there are a few things that happen to me that I'm unsure how to solve: ( any hints are welcome )
    - Something about the set of - tunes when loaded start automatically not allowing me to cue at first
    - I connect my laptop to the equipment, and follow instructions, controller reads and analyzes laptop tracks but music only plays from the computers speakers - ( I followed the audio instructions ) What shall I do to get the monitors speakers to play what I see on rekordox/laptop ?
    - What keys are compatible ? Meaning - if I'm to mix 2 songs - what is a chart that explains the probability of match based on KEY ?
    - With rekordboxDJ + beatbort premium ( paid ) account - is it possible to export musci from my premium soundclound into rekorbox using the USB stick only ?
    Thanks for all this !

      @digitaldjtips  Před 4 lety

      1. You can toggle the "auto start" playback of music in the Settings of the XDJ-RX 2
      2. Have you installed the drivers for the XDJ-RX2? If so, you should be able to select the XDJ-RX2 as the Output in Rekordbox DJ's preferences
      3. Check out the "Camelot System" graphic online :)
      4. No
      You're welcome! :)

    I have the RR, fills all my needs for what I want and need at home, which is to practice and keep my shit tight for work.
    The RX2 is great, but maybe too much of a luxury for home and my budget.
    I also assembled a booth for a small ish unit. RR is a great, unit yes it could be improved but then you would end up with a RX2 or something too similar to make sense.

  • @RaquelFoster
    @RaquelFoster Před 4 lety +1

    I like my RX2, but it’s very wide and weighs 20 lbs. So it’s bigger/heavier than a carry-on suitcase, and it doesn’t have any handles. It’s very awkward to pick it up by the sides. I feel like an Oompa-Loompa struggling to deliver a pizza that’s as big as I am. It’s a little scary putting it in my car. I would almost rather pack up my DJM-900 and two CDJs.
    It’s a little frustrating to look at the RX2 or the RR. They could EASILY fit full-sized wheels on the RX2 if they didn’t waste so much space in the mixer area, and they could easily fit RX2-sized wheels on the RR. Obviously Pioneer wants to reserve normal jog wheels for their top-tier CDJs. Everything else gets small wheels - except the DDJ-1000 which gets toy wheels with phone screens in the middle.

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  Před 4 lety +1

      What you mean by toy wheels? They're awesome on the DDJ-1000 (and XZ) :)

    • @RaquelFoster
      @RaquelFoster Před 4 lety

      @@digitaldjtips My first controller was a DDJ-1000. I don't think the screens are very useful, and they're tacky. It really stands out that Pioneer took cheap phone screens and masked off part to make it look rounded. The wheels function fine, but they're a little less solid than CDJ wheels. The RX2 might have capacitive wheels, but it feels crazy solid. I swear the RX2 feels more sturdy than my CDJs. I think in pictures, the DDJ-1000 looks really nice and the RX2 is kinda ugly, but once I actually used them I didn't like the DDJ-1000 and I think the RX2 is really nice. Every part of it is solid. The EQ knobs are as good as a DJM-900, and the filter knobs are actually nicer on the RX2 than on a DJM-900. Not that I think it's dumb to get a DDJ-1000. If I were going to use a controller I'd rather have a DDJ-400, though, just because it's closer to the actual CDJ layout.
