If you have the 3G 6th Gen (mid 2014), use caution when removing the bezel along the top. There is a antenna there that is essentially foil in plastic tape and can be easily damaged during disassembly.
*This is my second upgrade so I already like **Newest.Technology** Kindle Fires but the included keyboard that came in the configuration I bought blew it out of the water. I am very pleased.*
Man, you just saved my life. My Kindle has been washed by the sea. It was filled with sand. I've opened it easily with the help of your video. Thanks a lot!
@@ISI.O not away, but washed. I was at the beach and the waves got bigger. One of them hit the sand with such power that soaked everybody's towels, flip-flops, tents... And my Kindle was among these items
Excellent video. You saved the day.. I needed help as I accidentally drop my kindle into the sink (doh!) and being fully submerged it filled with water. With your video, I was able to take it apart. dry it. I now have a fully working Kindle again. Big THANKS
Big thanks on showing how to take the Paperwhite apart. My son's Paperwhite would not start and I know that I would need to disconnect the battery to get it restarted( just like my Samsung Galaxy 3, if anyone has the same problem with a Samsung Galaxy. The method to get to the Samsung battery is not exactly the same but close). Got to the battery, disconnected it for a few seconds, reconnected, put back together and now the Paperwhite turns on again.
This is a huge improvement from the Kindle Touch that I had. Processor is definitely faster, which is fantastic since I used to get impatient waiting for the page to turn on the Touch.
I have had this exact model and it has served me well for 8 years and still going strong! Lately one of the corners is starting to come apart probably due to the adhesive wearing out from age, what kind of adhesive can I use to re-secure the corner?
Is there a certain type of adhesive you must use when putting the front panel back on? or will it still stick back on okay with the old adhesive? The screen on my kindle is slightly askew and I want to to fix it. Is there a way to adjust how it ir oriented in the case once it's apart?
Great video, very clear, thank you. I was given a non-working Kindle, it won't show a light when chargiing, so I opened it up and found a ton of white corrosion buildup along the whole bottom of the unit. Do I need to reflow the power and data lines where the micro USB connector meets the m/b? For some reason it doesn't register a charge. I didn't open any of the 'cans' (metal covered sections), the water doesn't look like it got into them but I can't be sure. I could replace the m/b but I don't know if the power switch etc. need to be replaced as well. What do you think?
Sounds like it is liquid damaged. I'd try to clean the affected areas with alcohol. If that doesn't fix it you will need to replace components, but it probably isn't worth that on this unit.
I have a Kindle paperwhite 6 May you tell me something about to repair the screen? It's frozen. Amazon tell me to buy a new one but my it's only 3 year old
hi, can I ask for information, I have a 7th generation kindle. the kindle has the screen locked on a page, and it won't reset.I disconnected the battery, also the connectors for the touch screen and screen, but the page still remains on the screen. could it be a problem with the battery? thank you
nice video, but i think the most important part was missed - how to take apart screen. It is very hard to take apart without causing damage to it, especially for the first time.
My Kindle froze up a few days ago and the LED light that indicates when the battery is charging or whe it is fully charged is also dead. Does anyone know if the battery is completely dead if the LED should still work when trying to charge it?
You can buy e-ink display modules online and they'll either include or you'll have to buy a module to drive them. The driver modules are often run with an Arduino. I would look into that if you want a custom e-ink display as driving the display from a kindle with your own custom circuits would be nearly impossible, assuming Amazon used a proprietary interface to the display.
By now it's too late - this is for future reference. Get some double-sided permanent tape. When I replaced my cracked screen, the replacement screen required adhesive. The old bezel might have some stickiness to it, but why not do it right? Great video, though! I've done two repairs and these videos are a great confidence-builder!
Anyone know how to further disassemble the screen? That is, how to remove it from its frame assembly. I can't find any videos or guides on it, yet some stores sell just the screen without the frame assembly.
The screen is firmly glued to the mid-frame. It's quite impossible to remove the screen without damaging it. But if you want to replace a damaged screen, that's not a concern. Just go ahead and break the old screen. Hot air blower helps to certain degree.
my Kindle paperwhite shows a battery on the screen with no charge and a USB plug and lightning arrow next to it The reader doesnt work. Please advise what can be wrong Thanks
How to fix Kindle touch screen, its not completely unresponsive, i mean the top section works fine but just below it, unresponsive, and below it the touch works but again just below it no response. 4 sections touchable 4 section unresponsive what is the solution? Anybody please!
I have a big problem with my kindle 7th genration, the screen is frozen, I tried the root by pushing start buton for 40 sec and more, nothing, even if I took apart every peace of the tablaet ( main board batery...) it still frozen !!!! how can I fix it? thank you
Start at the bottom or bottom corner. For sure not the top. The top has that adhesive strip so it is attached much tighter. I found the plastic tool useless. Instead a tool like in this video.

at which step did you stop dissasembling the kindle and actually start drying it?

Hi! It's possible to replace original smd led to warm white smd led on kindle paperwhite 10? Tks!

Can anyone tell me where the cable of the connector is located?

On the 5th edition there is a screw hidden in the top center of the black strip. It needs to be unscrewed to lift up.

What are they using arduino or resberry pi?
How to remove display?
if the edge of the first part you are taking off has lifted by itself how could i stick it down

do you need to use glue to put it back together?

+bobwho1986 is there a video I can watch on how to replace the screen?
+saad tarabichi ... you mean like the one above? I'm not sure what you're asking.
Sean Lee but this doesn't really show how to assemble it back. and they aren't really clear with the whole screen detachment part
Does it actually contain ink?

Just need to find my flat tool.
+1 digitalworld.

mine does too ! usb come up on computer thou has green light that blinks twice
i charged it till green light was on then held the power button till it came on
I tried this but there is a plastic film on the screen that is also coming off , so I stopped.

You have to replace the screen.
coolyo
Nice video besides sometimes annoying dimming.
what about the screen?
Tony McDonald It stays together with the mid board.

You may need to replace the logic board.
Powerbook Medic can the screen still on frozen with out a battery?!! How can it be possible ?
Yes. An e-ink display will hold the image even without a battery.
Powerbook Medic thank you dear.. I'll try an other solution
Powerbook Medic the mother board or the logic board? Where can I find it? I searched on internet but I did not find any thing

Mines covered in some kind of silicone rubber junk in side the whole thing 🙄
You should really have cut out the parts where you're just unscrewing the display and mainboard. There's at least 3 minutes of that.
THIS WAS THE WRONG WAY TO DO THIS I now have a destroyed Kindle Paperwhite BEWARE
Now..what to do if after you take it apart, and disconnected from all the cables including the battery is still an image on it?
Dxcfgj
Images on eink show permanently, power is only used to change them
